I’m sorry that yesterday was tough. I hope today is a bit easier. On a side note, I think you are an excellent writer. You crack me up!
Another person recommended a book and I just started it. It is very insightful and offers some good tips. You should read it. If nothing else, it’s a good destruction and reinforces the positive changes you are making during this Pre Op phase.
    Keep up the good work!

Finally decided to post after 16 months after my surgery! It sure has been an interesting ride. I can say that most weight loss is attributed to what happens in the kitchen more than in the gym. However, working out sure makes you feel a lot better! I also had Tummy Tuck and removal of about 10-15lb of skin in December 2017, about 10 months after surgery. I started at 350lb, Surgery weight was ~325lb, Tummy Tuck was at ~195 and my one year mark in February has kept me at about 175lb. 13 months after my surgery, I had to get gall bladder removed because I was having ugly gall bladder attacks and they found several stones. They attributed it to severe weight loss in small amount of time. Also, for those at the beginning, my best advice is to not allow yourself to get discouraged with stalls because oooooh my, how I loathed them! Just stick with the magic number 6 and don't consume more than 6g of sugar in any sitting or with any beverages. Stay Focused. Be Grateful Everyday. Appreciate your wonderful body at every stage,

I was given cottage cheese from the hospital the day after my surgery! I have eaten it every day so far since then (5days) and have had no problems with it

Make sure you differentiate between diarrhea and just looser stool. When all you have is liquid going in, liquid is going to come out.
Diarrhea is more frequent bowel movements throughout the day and a feeling of not being able to hold it.
if you’re having one or two bowel movements a day, I would say that’s normal (according to my team).
I also learned I can’t handle milk based Protein cause I was having the worst diarrhea with that. Hope you feel better!

I’m not anxious for any “scared” reasons, I just hate waiting lol 😂 I’m ready (and super hungry 😂) I just can’t believe this is really happening...I find my story different than a lot of peoples and I often wonder if I belong...but there are a few like mine. I cannot wait to be the old me!!!

The wait is over and here I am in love with my pouch. The worst part about this was the 2 week preop diet. Don’t let anyone talk trash about it being just as hard post op. Right now i have no hunger no desire to eat and there’s nothing hard about that lol. Anyhow just wanted to give everyone out there that is still in the process some hope. I’m literally in cloud 9 and often catch myself with a big smile thinking wow I really just had a bypass!

Sojourne reacted to Newme17 in Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis
I know this was mentioned before here in the Vegans/Vegetarians forums and I wanted to maybe start this thread for all things pertaining to the book that Dr. Garth Davis authored, Proteinaholic. So far I'm on chapter 6 of it and I'm just amazed with how sound it is and all the studies that are out there to support why we don't need such a high amount of Protein, and why it's a culprit of obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.... There's just so much to talk about if anyone wants to get into discussion. Now, this thread IS NOT going to be for debate. I do not want anyone coming on here advocating high protein and what they "know" and debating with any of us who are or evolving into plant based, vegans or vegetarians. I want to share the things I've learned from the book and if anyone wants to challenge those, READ THE BOOK FIRST, and then you can come and talk about it. If you don't or haven't read the book, feel free to read the things that will be posted...and do your own homework to find these facts/truths out for yourself. I literally don't have time to do a protein ping pong match...so don't start one. You will be ignored.
Okay, with that said and out of the way, the first thing I want to mention is that Dr. Davis actually dispels the myths about protein and why our bodies don't need so much. It is not an opinionated book, it's a science/fact book. It makes TOTAL sense. He is quite comical too. The parts where he plays out his doctor/patient dialogues hit me the most...because I can relate to how I was educated about protein being what we all need. I had the same mentalities as he did regarding it, but after I started watching documentaries on plant based diets for the past couple of years, I've slowly become open to all the health benefits of eating plant based. But now, even though I knew plant based is great for the health, I didn't know that the protein component was/is what was causing so many problems in my health, my husband's, etc. Now, I've got science and truth to understand the premise of protein. The history of why, what Dr Davis talks about, we western society pick apart whole foods and live based off of macronutrients. Now, it just boggles me why we do that. The other thing that rings true and is nice knowing, is that he is a bariatric surgeon too. He knows what he's coaching/telling his patients. He knows that he was not a nutritionist, didn't know a single thing, but the one hour of nutrition studies in his school days, but he took the time to dive into history, studies, reports, etc to bring light to why western society is so unhealthy, and most of it is based on animal protein.
    Wow.
    Read the book!

I looked to see if there was a thread created for healthy vegan/vegetarian recipes. I didn't see any on the first page, so I created one here. Notice I noted HEALTHY...because we all know there are unhealthy ways of eating vegan/vegetarian diet. We can share our meals and pics (if you have any) with all those who are looking to follow a whole foods plant based diet. Happy sharing ya'll! Don't forget to follow the thread!!!
