  1. How incredible you are seeing a goal of renewed health come to life right before your eyes. You should be so proud to have made the decision to use this incredible tool to get your life back. You are a hero for sure. AND, you look very cute! Love your hair color.
  2. Been struggling with that question, so very glad you asked. I think it depends a great deal on your health issues (besides weight struggle). When you are healthy, you have shiny hair, good nails & energy. Been a long time for me. I "should", according to the sadistic weight charts, weigh 125. I have no clue where I need to end up. So setting short term goals along the way is a fantastic idea. Also, you are very brave about the skin reduction surgery. Totally get why we would like that. I think, my overhall health & surgical history as a factor,, I may have to be ok with a bit of saggy baggy! But that's okay for where I am in liife. Best outcome to you!
  3. Best thoughts from an MDD sufferer for life. Do not do this without your psych folks on board. Remember that you may well have withdrawal (which could include diarrhea) so being very stable with your weight & eating would make your coming off meds very much more successful. Also, remember to have those handy things ready: a daily plan, a plan or cognitive therapy tool in mind for your predictable changes. If you have not had cognitive therapy, its a wonderful tool. Helps enormously with both depression and anxiety issues. I am a licensed health care professional, but retired. Will be holding prayers and good thoughts for you.
  4. My doctor does early admit, late discharge. So one night. His staff swears that it's not painful, except gas and slight wound pain. And he does scopalamine patch to control nausea, which lasts 48 hours. You will be okay! And the infection thing is correct. This time of year you also will start getting flu & pneumonia people. A 45 min surgery, planned, is not as weird as your surprise gallbladder!
  5. Prayers for a great recovery. I waited, a couple weeks ago, with incredible pain -- had a very large kidney stone resulting in surgery unexpectedly. How glad we are that you got in and are going to be great. And kudos on 11 weeks!
  6. Just stay the course! You are doing fabulously! And when you go in, remember its only about 45 minutes and you're changing your life in a positive, long term way. Take a lot of slow deep breaths while they get you ready. I find (surgery pro here) that if I have a song (ear worm) in my head that makes me calm, or for me scriptural verses, I breeze through the surgery getting ready. You will do well, and we'll all be here on the "other side"
  7. I feel a bit better (day 5 surgery 10/5). My loss is almost 14 lbs, which surprised me. I am a bit light headed, not when driving or sitting, but walking. But then again I was before this its just a bit more. Not hungry, which I am grateful for. Stomach quite growling. No constipation, yay!
  8. Great job soldiering through. You must feel good to have completed half marathon! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Buffalo Bill, I do think everyone's doc has their own protocol. I have known (by blood work and biopsy) fatty liver infiltration. Maybe your doc is certain you are in good shape. You should be able to ask his bariatric nurse, or coordinator, if this is his usual or just your situation.
  10. So great to hear. I get that you're not that big comment, but I am obviously not at a healthy weight, nor is my body doing good things. Grateful for your input.
  11. Wow. I have some few "small" clothes, and they are sadly back in style. We have good thrift stores here in NC And I have a sewing machine and mad sewing skills. But you can only alter so much. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. My BMI at my first appointment was 33.6, which is lower than many having procedure. I have 5 comorbidities, besides being 65. My adult weight has been as low as 135 and as high as 240. Dr. says results are still great at the BMI. Any one with experience? Been on pre op 4 days & down 13.7 lbs. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. You look both fabulous and happy Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. The headache faded for me. I don't have broth option. 3 shakes, 1 protein bar, 1 pre me xed protect n "soup". Sugar free Jello, Crystal Light. Tea W stevia Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. So glad you decided not to....the risk is just not worth the relax. I'd suggest hot tea and a warm bath, or aromatherapy. But my go to would be Xanax, lol.
  16. Thank you! My dr routinely does the patch, which I've never had before. Also Zofran & another IV antinausea med. So tickled to hear patch is effective! Thank yoy
  17. My dr said it's about 90%. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. I've got 10/5 surgery, and only concern is nausea afterwards. I have had a lot of surgery, and usually an issue. Any tips? Thanks Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. I'm 65 and scheduled for 10/5. I'm doing two week pre op, and hanging in. I'm excited about surgery, nervous about recovery & nausea. All tips appreciated. i Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

  22. I've lost mine twice with chemo, and once because we have hereditary alopecia. Mine came back in very very curly, and of course, the color was different. Lighter than my black (it's now naturally white in the front, salt & pepper in back). Not looking forward to hair loss again, but this time I've got some extensions, and it is heartening to know it sounds like it grows back!
  23. Gosh, I understand why that might discourage you. Anyone would feel badly. I do think if you can get some assist with the liquid protein or ketone diet that you would lose much more quickly than you imagine. Does your insurance company & the facility have a coordinator who can help you figure out the best way to go? Don't give up.
  24. Oh please don't jeopardize your prep with the red wine. My BMI is low, but have had the fatty liver in the past, regardless. If your surgeon gets in and things are "right" he/she won't proceed. It's truly not worth the risk. That said, you are an adult, so make the choice you are comfortable with. I've had to have a lot of surgery. and just feel strongly that the prep is there for a really good reason, besides torment1
  25. I haven't lied, but that said, although weight has been a serious issue for me, I'm older than a lot of you and my issues are co-morbidty following failed medical & surgical plans. So while the weight loss will be way more than welcome, it's not primary. I am still 50 lbs over my "normal" weight, but also down from 240 to 196. I had to get cardiologist, neurologist, gastro approvals as well as GP referral, and because my BMI is on the lower end, we neded up self pay. I don't think it should be hard to have this done, since we all know health is the one thing we really have to have. Yeah, like I said, I'm old! 65.
