  1. It's a huge life change, and I'm finding the pre op has made me clear that while nervous, this is the best health decision I could make. And having struggled with WL for a long time, my successes didn't stay very long. I do realise it's a tool, not the end game. Try writing down why you wanted it. Then right down your concerns. Compare them, think about them, and maybe talk to a close friend. You'll know what's right for you..

    Pureed food ideas

Took your advice & made homemade beef & chicken broth to freeze in 3 Oz containers from Dollar Tree. Also baby spoons. Made a list by week about what I need on hand, and got some things ahead. Feel more optimistic! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hello Macon Ga

Not sure I understand. If you are approved for surgery, usually you have about 60 days to start the process. Here in NC, once you have consult & processes, clock stops. I would call BCBS and ask directly for peace of mind. Be sure to note date, time & who you talked to, as well as what they said. Congratulations! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

Day 3 on this pre-op diet

Oh my! my headaches disappeared by morning of day 4. I hope you are feeling better. I take 5 mg of melatonin about 30 minutes before bed. But you have to be laid down in the 30 minutes, or it kind of wears off, IMHO. I have 8 days to go

    Might need another surgery.

dreamingsmall, so glad to see your update. I've had many colonoscopies, and all I can say is "good drugs" and it's not bad at all. That being said, its normal to be a bit scared, and when you already feel punk, it's even more understandable. You will continue to be in prayers. Healing & peace be with you!

    Lower BMI

canuckmd, so glad you've worked out the details and are on your way. I am finding the preop do-able, albeit a bit boring. Giving the surgeon a clear surgical field, with minimal risk for liver laceration is well worth being food-bored I hope you do well! Please keep posting

    Lower BMI

My BMI at my first appointment was 33.6, which is lower than many having procedure. I have 5 comorbidities, besides being 65. My adult weight has been as low as 135 and as high as 240. Dr. says results are still great at the BMI. Any one with experience? Been on pre op 4 days & down 13.7 lbs. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I've got 10/5 surgery, and only concern is nausea afterwards. I have had a lot of surgery, and usually an issue. Any tips? Thanks Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. Sounds like post op for most things. This will be my 12th surgery. Medication is slow getting out of our systems sometimes. Also, events are huge & we do sort of go, uh now what? As a gramma, it's the journey not the destination! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Popcorn

I agree! I have surgery around the same time as you, and I think it will be a slide to bad habits. The RD suggested baked tortilla chips as a substitute. I thought that was a great idea. Just seasoned a bit. Maybe a bit of asiago. Sometime after 12/2 when real food can be a thing. That said, I need to focus on high nutrient value for long health! Pureed food ideas

I'm on 10/5, but a good recipe is pumpkin soup. You make it with Libby puree, chicken broth (you could use bone broth), a little thyme. At the end, add a bit of f Momat free plain Greek yogurt. It's easier than butternut squash, lots of vitamins. I think post op Iight add unflavored protein powder. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
