    Restriction??

I'm still pre op, but its good to know that we all feel differently. Perhaps you've healed very quickly?
  2. I felt like that when I made the decision in September. As my surgery approaches (10/5) I decided I'd best at least let my oldest daughter know (she's kinda jr. mom) in case something went awry (based on my other health issues). She was AMAZING & supportive; so I talked to the baby girl (33), and she was too. The other two children (who are 41, 35) are not "feely" kids, and so no conversation, although among themselves I'm sure they will. My husband is wonderfully supportive & encouraging, and as I've gotten more comfortable , my closer friends now know. So lots of support where I rather thought I'd be on my own a bit. Grateful for good friends & family. AND for all of you here. You guys "get it"
  3. One of the difficulties with walking is that not all neighborhoods/towns are walker friendly. We live in a very safe area, but streets are fairly narrow & sidewalks non existent in the best walk close to home. Our friends from Spain walk everywhere, or bicycle because there town is set up for them, not so much for cars. And our downtown area is not walking. So that leaves going to the track at the Y, which in the South is hot! So treadmill, low traffic times HOWEVER I'm resolved to "step it up" post surgery.

Oh my! In what way are you feeling unprepared? Be glad to try to support you bit. Mine is the 5th.

How did you choose your goal weight?

Julie Norton, what a great advice. I just think I will know what "feels" right, as long as I use the tool of the sleeve correctly. It's not like I'm looking to wear a bikini @ 65. I just want to be able to play with my grandchildren!
  6. Hoping you've had some good news today; hematologists are awesome, and often blood gets out of balance (along with the rest). I randomly (to me) have all my potassium "fall out" and end up with IVs. Then it's good for another 18-24 months. So praying for a good fix, and accurate results with a plan to move forward!

    Calling all October sleevers!!

Pretty sure your body forgives you, and it sounds like your spirit will too! I'm sure you will do well with your surgery. I don't care for the pre op, but it tastes much better than it did when I started, no hunger. I imagine "other" food would be gross tasting, and your share certainly helped me! Thanks for being so generous! Are you from Butte MT? I have family all over the area there, although we are in NC.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

My surgery is week from today, 10/5, at 9:15. I have pre op this am. I am OCD/over organized and working on populating my take every where calendar with enough info to get me through to regular foods on 12/2. Of course, regular means a bit different. I am NOT sad to let go of popcorn, although I love it. It's an indigestible food & with colectomy, not a great idea any way, lol

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

Thanks for your post. My BMI now is 31 (pre surgery), but has been as high as 40, and as low as 24 in the last 7 years. Myriad of health issues, plus hitting 65 and as my friend said, I need to control my body with this great tool, as my body has controlled me too much. Had pen heart surgery, which failed within 6 months. So glad no one is saying I'm too light weight for surgery. Health really is so important, and I want to see grandkids grow up!

    Calling all October sleevers!!

I started on 9/21 for 10/5 surgery. It's okay. I was put off by the fact it tastedtoo salty, because I live in a "salt free" cardiac world most of the time. I got used to it, and it's not so bad. I am doing the Optifast800 which is 3 shakes, 1 "soup" and a bar. So not lots of choices. I do add a bit of pepper to the soup. I had a mild headache the 2nd day, which went away. I've been drinking Crystal Light and decaf Constant Comment Tea, and water. By Day 3, I felt fairly good but was also just coming off surgery for kidney stones a few days before, so not sure if some of that wasn't the kidney stone recovery. I think its very do able. I'm quite determined to have my liver as small as possible for surgery. I've also lost about 14 lbs. I am sure you will do well. Great success to you on your decision!
