    Stevia....yay or nay?

I have used Stevia forever (or Truvia) and the NUT said it's fine. However, I found doing the post op that I really like tea (de caf) better without anything than with Stevia. I think our tastes do change along & along the road.

On a train to Crazy Town

We get on the crazy train at birth on my family, lol. My surgery is 10/5. I've found the pre-op quite okay, and am down 14 lbs. I've had surgeries, including open heart, double mastectomy, and removal of most of large colon. That said, my doctor's patients, whom I've met, say Tylenol did the trick, and walking got rid of has pains. I've found lots of amazing recipes for all phases of the post op on Pinterest. That encourages me that I can create and enjoy my post surgery foods, and be a part of life. Perhaps moving past words like "horrible" you could find adventure, new ideas, new possibilities with amazing health. What could you do with better health? A trip, dance lessons, horses.... We go where our mind does! Wishing you the best! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Calling all October sleevers!!

Anyone else thinking of making their own shakes? I start my pre-op diet on the 9th. A few people I have spoken with say they get sick of everything they can eat being sweet. That there are to few "savory" things to choose from. Yes. I have gotten unflavored protein powder to make my own, which means I can do my flavours. My NUT is very supportive & has recipes. Also Pinterest has lots, broken down into phases. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Not a magic fix..............

Any type of bariatric surgery is simply a tool. It is not a magic cure for being overweight I'm older, all comorbidities, fairly low BMI. My surgery is 10/5. Your comments echo my thoughts precisely. I hope some of the folks who are trying to figure out how to "cheat" or do things differently than the drs advise, read what you've said. It's a lifetime commitment. It's giving yourself the best new life you can Thanks for sharing. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Irrational fears about surgery

I've had a lot of major surgeries, and am still nervous as 10/5 approaches. That said, it's about a 45 minute procedure, most pain is from gas and largest endoscopy site. But my dr says Tylenol & walking. Before surgeries I do visualisation. I meditate rather than ruminate and fear goes away. Praying you find peace in the process Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

  16. yes its very scary because its basically distrupted my life I don't drive as much as I use to or when I do want to drive I have to In NC if you have a seizure you are mandated to self report. Must go 6 months seizure free to drive, or lisence is revoked, insurance& possible jail. Does your Dr know you're driving? Just be safe, please. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I have access to all my blood work/test results on my PCP's website, where I can print them out. Does your office perhaps have something like that? Where we're at you can print a complete "Lucy" Record, which is everything.

I'm having surgery 10/5, at 65. I went through menopause early (surgical), and yep, did have a little (I mean little) bit in the middle. However, I ballooned up due to other health issues. We cannot second guess what may lie ahead for us. But I have a lot of "ologists" who think this is the best way to get control of my health and to enjoy it. Prayers for a wonderful outcome for you!
  22. I honestly hadn't thought about what I'd do, so glad the topic came up. I would like to go to Spain with my husband next August, to see friends/family there. I would like to walk the pilgrimage from Zaurauz to Loyola...see Vega painting in Barcelona, museums in Madrid. The weight walking has been an issue, but the bigger one is an abhorrence of flying! So good to have the next goal in mind.
