  1. Well, I am thrilled to see your entry. I am going to have the procedure with Dr. Kuri in TJ also. I am also very anxious about the emotional eating. i eat fine all day long and then graze at home in the evening. i am a recovering addict and know the feeling of helplesness and hopelessness of the addictive eating. I have only a glimmer of hope in the procedure but know that that's all I need to get started. I didn't know how I wans't going to drink and drug when I got sober but God put in my life the people and support that I needed. I trust that this is happening even now with the eating:thumbup:. I get banded on 4-24-09. How about you?

Hello and congradulations on your path! You will do awesome! I actually had surgery last June... I am very happy with my decision. It certainly hasn't been easy and I have definatly broken some rules, but I am learning and it is getting easier. I still struggle with eating for health rather than just shoving food. I think it will always be a struggle for me, but it is worth it. I feel so much better than I did nearly a year ago. I have lost 65 pounds and have 40 or 50 to go. My faith has undoubtably gotten me through the tough times... I know that God will not give me more than I can endure and that through Him all things are possible (even saying "no" to that awesome chocolate cake that is calling my name!!)

I will be excited to hear how things go for you. Dr. Kuri is awesome; the entire Mexico experience was really good!

    Good luck to you!!

  2. So, I am 7 months out and have lost 60 pounds.... I am totally thrilled about that. But, then a few days ago, I had a tough day. Seemed everything was getting stuck. That night I had horrible reflux, which continued the next day. My chest hurt, my throat hurt, and I couldn't eat anything. Yesterday, my chest and throat were a bit better, but I still couldn't eat anything (even a shake was too much) without feeling it in my chest. So, I went to the dr today and felt I needed a complete unfill and he put me on previcid (I think - haven't picked up the scrip yet). He wants me to stay unfilled for TWO MONTHS!!

On the one hand, I almost immediatly felt better and after I ate some good protien, I felt so much better. On the other hand, I am scared to be unfilled for two months. What if I go back to my old ways. I know it took 7 months to lose that 60lbs, feeling terrified I could gain it back in 2!!

  3. I haven't posted on here in forever... but I do love coming on the board and reading about all of your success'!!

I have lost 54 lbs as of today! I got my third fill the first week of October and it has been a really good restriction. I have been consistantly losing 2 lbs a week since then.

I had a non-scale victory the other night. I was looking for a t-shirt to throw on (it was dark in our room and my son was asleep). I grabed one that I thought was mine, it was a little big and nice and comfy. Well, when I looked in the mirror, it was my hubbies! When we first got married I would wear his t-shirts around the house. I remember the day I put one on and it was tight and uncomfortable.... I am sooo happy those days are gone for good!:tongue_smilie:

  4. Just got back from TJ for my first fill. I have a 9.75cc band and recieved 1.6cc. He actually gave me more and then after the floura. he had to take some out. Had to swallow that nasty pink crap 4 times!!! But, other than that it was very easy and pain free. I can definatly tell a difference. I could eat a lot of anything for the last week or so. Not any more!

  5. Hey fellow Jazzy Juners!!! I am curious if any of you are tracking your food intake and how many calories you are getting each day. I am tracking on The Daily Plate and seem to be averaging 800 per day. I am on full liquids right now. I feel like I should be getting more, but I am eating (or should I say "drinking:tongue_smilie:) when I am hungry and stop when I feel full. I am also getting about 50% from protien, 30% carb, 20% fat. But my dr. recommended about 2200 calories. Thanks for your input... Jill

  6. Jilian, I really like the New Whey Protein bullets. I mix them with crystal light, and it's basically just like drinking crystal lite. You can also just take a shot of it without adding it to anything (it's sort of the consistency of Jello before it sets). I think the 3 oz size has 42 oz of Protein and around 180 calories. That could be a great way to get extra protein in. I would make up a big glass and sip on it throughout the morning.

    Good luck!

Thanks!! I will give it a try. My body is definatly not used to so few calories!! :frown: Jill

  7. I was banded on June 10th and have been doing pretty good. No gas pain --thank goodness, although I definatly have a lot of gas:blink:!! My incisions are doing well and the swelling seems to have gone down a little. However, I can't seem to get more than 600 or 700 calories in. I wasn't too worried about it until today when I walked in my house I got really light headed. Pretty close to passing out. I am drinking high protien shakes (26 grams per 8 oz) and going for the higher protien Soups. I just can't eat hardly anything without my stomach feeling really tight and uncomfortable and there are only so many hours in the day! Any suggestions for high cal, high protien foods. I am on full liquids for the next two weeks. THanks, Jill

  8. June 10th was my surgery date in TJ with Dr. Kuri and I am finally home. Everything went very smooth with the surgery. Dr. Kuri is wonderful as is his entire staff. I am very happy that I decided to go this route. As I said, the surgery was very smooth--no problems at all. However, for all of you that had out patient surgery, I don't know how you all did it! I hardly remember the entire day. I did get up and walk twice, but then I passed out again!

I have been hungry, but am filled up with very little Clear Liquids. Tomorrow I start on full liquids...at this point I don't care if I ever see a bowl of Jello again!:rolleyes2:

  9. This is such an awesome group! My name is Jill and I am from Nevada. I am a stay at home mom to my 6 wonderful (okay, not always wonderful!:)) birth, adopted, and foster children. My husband and I have been fostering for 8 years and it is time for me to take care of me! I need to be able to keep up with my kiddos and every pound is making it harder! I can't believe I am leaving tomorrow for Mexico and then Tuesday is "lap-band day"!

  10. Okay... I know that I am an emotional eater and that I eat without thinking. However, I really seem to be out of control right now. It's like I know that this surgery is coming up and I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO EAT AGAIN! Which I know is untrue and I should be cutting out the sugar now to make it easier later, but what I know I should do and what I am doing are completely different. Anyone else really struggle right before surgery?

  11. Hello! My name is Jill and I am very excited to be having my lap-band surgery in 2 weeks! I am having surgery in Mexico with Dr. Kuri (any Kuri patients out there?? I would love to hear about your experience!). My best friend and I are having the surgery together. We have been planning for a couple of months now and I can not believe it is so close now. I am feeling very comfortable about the surgery, however the first weeks after, have me pretty nervous. I am definatly an emotional eater and I do love sugar -- I have started a high protien diet and am slowly cutting back on the sugar. I have also been seeing a councilor to help deal with the emotional aspects. Still... I am concerned, but definatly more excited and motivated than anything else!
