Wow. Scary. All I keep thinking is I can't wait to go out to dinner. It sad but true! I will hopefully be able to not overeat. Thanks for sharing your experience.

My mom was only able to stay a few days too. She made some extra meals for my family and froze them. She finished all my laundry and left me in good shape. Congratulations on your date!

the good, the bad, the ugly

It is so hard to say how you will feel. The woman I roomed with didn't need one pain pill however, I am two weeks out and I just had to take one. I had a lot of gas and it was painful, but most don't have that. I feel confident that what ever you experience week one should be over week two. I did start to experience a little hunger between 8-10 days out. Not terrible but a little. Now I am on pureed and not experiencing any hunger. I am eating three small meals. My port site is still healing so I can't answer that question, but I am sure someone will. Good luck! -
just starting the process

I just followed the insurance requirements. It seemed like I would never get approved. I was in shock when I got the call that I was approved. Just follow the requirements. The six months went fast! Dee -
Protein Shakes - Is it just a american thing?
StarbuxQueen replied to Caroline4678's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Medifast Official Site | Quick, Easy Clinically Proven Weight Loss And there is a bunch of opti fast auctions on ebay. They seem high. I would ask your pharmacy or Dr. first. I love having the protien Soups and shakes for emergency use. For example, I went to work today and ended up getting stuck there longer then expected. I was starting to get very week and hungry. I had a shake with me and I had 1/2. It revived me and kept me going until a few minutes ago. Dee -
Sorry ignore the last post. It was in response to a post on another thread from the UK. Dee

yes, I was starting to get hungry before I started mushy's. I started having a pureed soup once a day around day 10 and that helped. I am not too hungry now on mushys but I have a feeling that will change. Where do you live. If you are close, let me know if you need anything at surgery time. I will be adjusting to my new fill. I can't wait! Good luck with your surgery.

Hi, everyone! This is so cool. Has anyone else had surgery through Dr. Barba? I live in East Windsor which is only about 10 miles from Bradley. I work at Starbucks in Enfield, CT. I am having a really tough day because I started mushy's yesterday and my scale hasn't moved in 3 days. From another thread I can see others are having the same issue. My food intake cut in 1/2 or more. I making such better choices. I went from a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast to 1% cottage cheese and fruit (smashed of course). I am walking which I never did. It seems so odd that my scale stopped moving. I am going to hang in there and hope inches start coming off. Thanks for all the great CT responses!!!

Thanks. I am trying to not be upset. It is so strange. My food intake has cut in half; no even more. I am walking, which I never did. It really doesnt make sense! The food I am eating are such better choices. From a bagel and cream cheese to 1% cottage cheese with fruit. God, please help me through this stage!

Thanks, but I don't understand why? I am eating under 1200 calories. I am loosly keeping track.

Would It Kill Me....
StarbuxQueen replied to wickman2617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I think this is getting out of hand. The last posting really hurt my feelings. I am struggling to get out of this post op phase. I am emotional and we were just trying to discuss and get through it together. A few of us at the same point in our lap band journey. NONE of us would ever wish to harm wickman2617. We just stated what we did. None of us suggested wickman2617 go out and get some steak we just stated what we did. I agree Dr. should be contacted. I know I just stated that I made a pureed veggie soup and had it once a day at day 10. I certainly hope I caused no damage. And frankly, I wasn't as anxious and stressed until this thread. I have contacted my dr. and he said I am fine, but I do need to calm down. -

I don't think so. I was banded the same day and I am down 21lbs. My scale hasnt moved in the last few days, but I am now on mushys and I believe my body has to adjust. -
The only thing I have heard is you must wait a year. Safety for you and the baby. I am looking forward to getting this weight off and having a thin pregnancy.

Protein Shakes - Is it just a american thing?
StarbuxQueen replied to Caroline4678's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wish I knew. I got mine from my Dr. I did see some listed on eBay and there are other brands that are similar. I know some have used medifast which I believe you can order on line. Have a great day! -
Hi, I live in the Hartford area. I was banded on 3/25 by Dr. Barba. I have been very happy with my Dr. and his staff. I have my first fill with Dr. Barba on 5/1 and then fills will be done through his PA, Jason. Just introducing myself. DEE

What were your insurance company requirements for approval?
StarbuxQueen replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Insurance & Financing
My nutritionist walked me through. She had all the insurance info for me. All insurance companies are different. I had to be on a low calorie diet for six months. My friend had to follow a low GI diet for a short amount of time. I had to document behavior changes. I was required to have a phyc exam. I had to see a pulmonologist(sp) and maybe another - cant remember. After I completed it all, I was approved. I found all the requirements at my insurance companies web site. I searched the articles for lap band. Good luck -
So is it safe to have a soda occasionally? I am dying for one!

When I first started thinking about LapBand I started to pray. I asked God for peace if this is the route He wanted me to take. I proceeded with as long as I felt a peace. I believe God was with me all the way through. I am now 2weeks out and down 21 lbs. Good luck.

I will be banded on April 30th!
StarbuxQueen replied to Bethannwd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was just banded on 3/25. I feel great although I had discomfort due to gas the first week. I cannot feel the band at all. I can feel the port sometimes but I think that is because I am still healing. -

THANKS! I am doing well. I am still struggling with some gas pains. Nothing severe. I just started Mushy food which is exciting. I am looking forward to my first fill and then I hope to really start dropping some weight! -
