This is my first post. I was sleeved in Orange County on 12/7. I am down 25 lbs as of today which basically puts me at loosing an average of a lb a day. I stalled from week 2 to week 3, but seem to be loosing again. I am no where close to where I want to be, but so thankful I am not where I was.

Wondering if anyone has hit the gym yet? I am eager to get in and put in some work. Walking is great, but I get so bored. Obviously no weights until cleared, but thinking bike and other cardio equipment.

Also, what are some of you go to puree/soft foods favs? I just started phase 2 last Thursday, so I am still getting a feel for what I can tolerate.

Lastly, anyone take Probiotics? I am looking to start one in hopes that it will make me far more regular.

Hi Protein_Princess, some of my soft foods favs are red Beans cooked extra long until i can smash with a fork, broccoli over cooked, green beans, lentils or whatever beans you like just make sure they are over cooked, Taco bell re-fried beans (this helps me think I am going out to eat)! Hopes these are some ideas you can enjoy!

Hi December buddies! I didn't have a chance to read all posts but wanted to check in and say hi. I am 3 weeks post op (sleeved December 11, 2017). I hit the dreaded "three week stall" last week, as I haven't lost anything since Christmas. However, I am down 34 pounds from my heaviest, and 28 pounds since starting my 2 day pre-op liquid diet. I'm also down 17 inches so far!

My doctor said to be careful with working out, and no weights yet. His concern was I wasn't getting all my Protein in. However, I have upped my Protein and I'm now hitting between 60-80g a day. I'm wondering if anybody has started doing cardio yet? I'm anxious to put in the work to break this stall, although I know time is necessary as well.

I'm on pureed, and eating a lot of tuna salad and egg salad since my plan allows those without actually being pureed. I just have to cut it up really small! Everything is going really well so far, and I am allowed to start "real" food Saturday, woot!

Happy New Year! Here is to a healthier and happier year for all of us.

I am in the same boat...three week stall....I have lost 36 pounds all togher and 23lbs since surgery! I am still not comfortable eating tuna, chicken, or any meats yet but doing well on chicken salad, tuna salad, and Beans. Egg salad sounds good, will have to try that as well. I have not been able to get all of my protein in so I ordered some Liquid Protein since i have trouble with trying to eat and get enough in. Good luck!

I’ve been lurking awhile, but I decided the other day to create an account with the intention of posting, but I easily get distracted and didn’t. I’m doing it now though because I’m just super stoked that I’m down 18lbs! I’ve been struggling the last several years, yo-yo-ing and could never lose more than just a couple of pounds and dumb Water weight. It was time I take back my life and feel good about myself again. I turned into a hermit, only leaving the house for work travel. It was sad and it sucked because I remember enjoying going out and seeing friends and doing stuff.

Anyway, all has been going well. I’ve been able to add mushy chunks to my meals now. But I’m having a really hard time with getting enough liquids in. My drink is warm by the time I finish it, but it being warm does not make me want to finish it. Im going to use this as an excuse to finally buy a yeti tumbler. Haha.

    Oh, stats, I’m 5’-3”

    183 lbs day of surgery

    165 lbs 3 weeks post-op

That is super fantastic, 4 weeks out and have lost 22 pounds. My HW=236, SW=226, CW=204 and I am super excited. Good luck on our journey!

  4. So I weight myself and have gained about 13lbs since my first doctors appointment on Sept 26. You guys I feel terrible. This week I started a week early on my preop diet to shed weight faster and get used to having liquids in the first few stages after surgery. Did this happen to any of you? I guess I kept telling myself “oh you’re not gonna be able to eat this again for awhile so just eat it now” and it stuck with me since. I feel so bad

I did the same thing I started eating everything I knew I would not be able to eat freely again as my one meal and still lost 10lbs when I weighed in for surgery Monday. My HW=236, SW=226.1! Don’t beat yourself up and just try to get back on track! By the way surgery went well for me!

  5. Hello! I'm new here just looking for some answers I hope to find...but I'm 5'6 and weigh 260 pounds. my BMI is a little over 40, I believe. I have sleep apnea, but no other comorbidites. Unless IBS or stomach problems count? I have medical, since I am low-income, under LA CARE. I was wondering if anyone here has had this procedure done or know if it is covered by this insurance? Also, how could I start the process? unfortunately at the primary doctor I currently have, it takes so long ti get an appointment, so I was wondering if I could start elsewhere? Thank you everyone!

Yes, I just had surgery done Monday. I am 5’6 and my HW=236 SW=226.1 with BS and High BP and insurance covered!

  7. I told my husband and my two teen daughters and two very good friends. That was it. Didn't tell my mother, my sister or anyone else. When people ask how I lost the weight, I stick with the truth -
I have been working with a medical team
I write down everything I eat
I eat between 60-100 grams of Protein at day
I drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day
I work out for 9-10 hours a week, including 5 hours fencing, an hour of Pilates and strength training.
    It's been really hard work
I pretty much don't eat bread, white flour, sugar or carbonated things any more.
    All of that is true.
I told my office I needed to have a procedure and left it at that and implied, without saying anything, that it was "female" surgery which stopped anyone from asking more. (Besides, legally, they can only ask how long you will be out per your doctor and whether you will have restrictions when you return.). My girls were 17 and 13 when I had my surgery. I told them this was something that was not discussed outside our family - ever. They haven't said a word, as far as I know.

Thanks and this is very helpful!
