  1. When I was in the hospital every time I dozed off I would have a bad dream, and since I've gotten home (surgery was 9/11/17) I've had 2 horrible very real like dreams. I'm not one to hardly ever dream at all, so this is really weird for me! I thought maybe when I was in the hospital that maybe it was a side effect to the pain medicine, but I haven't been taking any pain meds since I've been home. The only medicine I take is the antacid they prescribed, and my vitamins. This is so weird! Has anyone else had this issue??

    Intense chest pain

Yes, I had the same thing, and same surgery. It took about 3 weeks for the chest pain to go away. However now that I am on more puréed and moving toward solid foods if I eat something that doesn't agree with me I will get a pain in my throats and chest. That's a warning to me to slow down or back off what I'm eating and eat something I can tolerate better at this point. I keep telling myself that eventually I will be able to eat more regular foods, just not right now. It will get better. Try to eat slow and take smaller sips and bites of your foods and drinks.

    Clothes for hospital and after

I have a Lularoe Carly dress with comfy leggings that I wore to the hospital and a long sweater, and then discharged in the same outfit, since I didn't wear it very long. While in the hospital I was in a hospital gown the two days I was there (one night). I didn't even take a bra because I didn't want it rubbing my incisions trying to put it on and off. As a matter a fact, I didn't wear a bra the entire week I was home. I just wore my Carly's, which look like little dresses/night gowns, and are so comfy. Putting a bra back on for the first time to go back to work I had to be very careful not to rub the incisions. I only took a week off, and did fine going back to work. Best of luck to you!

    Sleeve too small

Not sure how anyone would know their sleeve was too small unless like you they had to go in for another surgery and that surgeon could see the results of the sleeve. I've been told if you continuously eat things that you shouldn't be eating and overeat on a regular basis that that can stretch out your stomach. It does seem odd that he would even notice something like that. Congratulations on your weight loss!!
  5. This is so awesome! I think I will do this! Great idea! And you look amazing!! Congratulations!!
  6. Am I going to feel sick to my stomach the rest of my life? It seems like every time I eat something I start feeling sick the rest of the day. I hate this feeling!

    Sick to my stomach :(

Yes, I'm trying hard to not drink while eating and not drink until my food has settled. Good luck to you too!! Hope you feel better soon!

    Sick to my stomach :(

I've always been one to inhale my food, because especially at work I don't have but about 10 min to eat lunch. But I have slowed down a lot since surgery. It very well could be eating too soon after drinking water. It is mostly since I started trying to eat softer foods instead of the liquids and shakes. Also, are the protein shakes considered a food, and are we supposed to not drink with the shakes and do the 30/30 rule with them too? It's hard to not drink while eating. :-/
  9. I have osteoarthritis in both knees and am 3 weeks post op. One of the main reasons I did the surgery was to help with my knee pain. I am down 25 pounds (I lost 14 prior to surgery), and now my knees hurt so bad even laying in bed. If I turn a certain way in bed or walking my knees have this horrible pain that shoots through them. The pain management Dr. had told me the next step was knee replacement, but I didn't want to go that route, if possible. He had also said getting the weight off would also help my knees. Has anyone experienced more knee pain with losing weight, and does that pain eventually go away?

    Relief for knee pain

Thanks for the info! Good to know! Yeah, I just can't afford to be out 6 + weeks from working to heal either. I've had the euflexxa gel injections and they didn't really help. Was just a battle dealing with the insurance co., because the Dr. coded it wrong. Huge headache! My knees seem to hurt more, at night while in bed now. Had not even thought about the anti-inflamatories being out of my system, but that's probably why I'm feeling more pain now. I tried taking a Tylenol cut into many pieces today and I felt so sick to my stomach all day. I'm 28 pounds down since 2 weeks before surgery, so I've still got a ways to go to get to that magic number. Best of luck to you! Please let me know, if your knee pain goes away! I hope it does!!

    Healthy beverages besides water.

Where do you get protein water, and how does it taste?
  12. Mytimenow17

I feel like I can eat too much

My Dr says the more protein you take in the less hungry you will feel.

    This didn't work for me

I had my 1 month post op appt. yesterday and told my Dr. I've been so hungry! He said I've got to take in more protein (shakes!) I was barely getting two is daily, and he said I need to be getting 90g of protein daily, where I was probably only getting about 60 g on a good day. I was also very sleepy in the evenings, and again he said Protein shakes! So, I've done that today and actually it has helped.

How do I stop eating so fast?

My Dr says the slower you eat and chew your food the better and easier it is for your body to digest the food you eat, which is better for your system, and also helps with weight loss.
  15. Bless your heart! So glad they were able to fix the problem! That's scary! I was in tears my first night in the hospital. Just stressed and feeling all alone.... I was just happy I was doing something for me, for a change, instead of always for everyone else. It's time for me now. Good luck on your journey!
  16. Congratulations on taking the first step to have the surgery done. As my Dr. said protein shakes, water and vitamins!! Whenever I start to see a stall, I back off on everything except the shakes and water. I have horrible knee pain, and hoping that will eventually get better! It does make it very difficult to walk, or even to be motivated to walk, but any exercise you can do at all will help you towards meeting your goal. Any exercise is better than no exercise. The pounds will start coming off too if you exercise, and stick to the diet. Best of luck to you!
  17. I had my Drs appt, 1 month follow up yesterday. Dr. Said I'm doing good. I've lost 27 pounds since August 25th, 14 pounds since surgery on 9/11/17. I forgot to tell the Dr. that I get brief chest/throat pain while eating certain foods. I'm not sure if this is something that just doesn't agree with me or what. I chew the food up really well, and it is soft to begin with. My throat and chest also makes a gurgling sound, which feels weird. Has anyone else had this issue? Also wonder if it could be because of the hiatal hernia repair I also had done at the same time as my sleeve? It does make me slow down even more with eating, like a warning...

    Pain in chest when eating

Thank you so much for your comment! Good to know it will eventually go away. I've really not felt too good today. Kinda sick to my stomach all day.

    Calories per day

At my Drs. Appt. yesterday, 4 weeks post op I specifically asked how many calories I should be eating. He said not to count calories or I'd burn myself out on trying to figure all the stuff out. He said just focus on getting in my protein -90g daily and at least 64oz of water daily. He said don't worry about calories overall. He also said the apps that do the calculating for you are great. I do use the Bariatric app for keeping track of my intake of everything, and it is very helpful!

    Sushi

I just had my 4 week post op appt. yesterday and my Dr said no pasta, bread, or rice for at least a couple more months. He said it can cause blockage in my esophagus. He said I should not even be eating the noodles in chicken noodle soup. Breads and pasta have always been my love... but no more.

    Triple Digits, Baby!

    Congratulations!! That is so wonderful!!!

    This didn't work for me

Bless your heart! Hang in there. I've heard of some people losing slow, but as long as it is coming off. Actually the slower it comes off the longer you will be able to keep it off. Just don't give up. Stay positive. Hugs!
  23. Is anyone still having this issue, the area above my main incision is still somewhat hard and somewhat painful. I am 4 weeks post op.
  24. Thank you! It's weird that the pain and hard spot is above the incision. Thanks for the info!

    Starbucks Egg bites

I am 4 weeks post op and just tried this morning to eat a little bit of scrambled eggs. Huge mistake! I chewed them up really well, but each bite (could only handle 2) hurt so bad going down my throat that I couldn't handle it anymore.
