  1. I've done Optifast in the past. However, they didn't have us use Optifast pre surgery. They recommend Boost because they sold it at the hospital, but said we could use whatever Protein Drink that we would stick to. I did the Boost for three weeks pre surgery. It was cheap, it was also sickening sweet, but you can do anything for a short period of time.

if you could start on a weekend or a non work day, that can be helpful. After about the third day, your hunger and cravings should diminish greatly. After a week, people eating around me didn't bother me any longer.

    Good luck on your journey.

  2. Oh gosh! The one thing I worried about, wrinkles! My full face before surgery looked pretty good, but now, not so much. I notice mostly around my mouth and cheek area. Also my neck. I'm considering Botox because it is a good preventive for wrinkles, placed in the proper spot, it can also reduce wrinkles somewhat. I'm 60, so I figured I'd have wrinkles when I lost weight, just wasn't expecting so many. However, I'll take the wrinkles over being morbidly obese.

I agree. For me, losing 167lbs has completely changed my life. It's truly amazing. I had my surgery October 10th 2017. So, we are surgery sisters. 20190411_131926.jpeg Screenshot_20190506-105533_Message%2B.jpeg

  5. Usually, once you are approved for WLS, you are in. That was a concern with one of my coworkers as well. However, we both have Kaiser and they told us once you are approved, you can have the surgery even if you want to wait for a year to have it. They will not kick us off the program. It was our choice. They want us to be fully ready for the surgery.

  6. Hi PNW people. I’m in Portland, Oregon. I’ve only just had my primary care physician put in the referral. I’m a complete newbie. I’m with Kaiser. If anyone has some tips for me as I start this journey I’d welcome them.
Hello, I also had my surgery with Kaiser Sunnyside. It's a wonderful program. My tip would be follow the program as much as you can. The bariatric team is so nice and helpful. I have nothing negative to say about the program. Well other than disliking the Boost drinks, but that we don't have to do for very long.
