    Try this, @kharvard15 ... Complete Five-Day Bariatric Reset Diet The Five-Day Pouch Reset is a "reset" diet for people who have had gastric bypass surgery and might be starting to regain weight. Step 1 Drink only liquids for the first two days of the five-day diet. You'll need to drink at least two litres of water in addition to low-carb protein shakes. You can drink as many shakes as you want; the point of the first 48 hours is to take a break from your eating habits. By getting all of the nutritional needs from liquids, you'll be forced to pay attention to how often you were eating, snacking or simply grazing. Remember: The goal during this phase isn't weight loss, but mentally re-setting your habits. You can't make your pouch smaller through changes in diet, but you can learn portion control. Step 2 Eat only protein the next three days. On day three, you'll eat "soft protein" such as eggs and cottage cheese. On day four, you'll eat "ground meats" -- such as meatloaf and hamburger. On day five, you'll eat "solid proteins" such as chicken breast or a piece of fish. Limit condiments, such as salsa or mayonnaise. Foods should be as dry as possible -- which will help you gauge how full you are. You're allowed to eat as much as you'd like and as often as you like, but you must stop eating 15 minutes after you start. Do not sit and eat for longer than 15 minutes at any point during the final stage of the diet. Step 3 Do not drink any liquids 30 minutes before eating or with your meals. Liquids can help push foods more quickly through your pouch, allowing you to eat more than you should. Many facets of the five-day bariatric pouch reset diet are similar to the post-op diet followed right after surgery. Tips Plan ahead because the diet restricts the types of food you can eat. Make sure you have the foods you need on hand. The goal of this diet is to make you conscious of your food choices and stop mindless eating. Warnings According to the National Institutes of Health, "bypass surgery alone is not a solution to losing weight. It can train you to eat less, but you still have to do much of the work. You will need to follow the exercise and eating guidelines that your doctor and dietitian gave you."

    Low sugar/low carb ISOWHEY (110 cals per serve) ... about $AUD1.05 per serve when bought in bulk. Medium sugar/low-med carb ALDI (190 cals per serve) ... $AUD2 per single serve off shelf. Low Calorie/Low Carb Optislim Rapid (106 cals per serve ... $AUD1.63 per 21 serve pack. ISOWHEY is a clear winner. (IMHO)

    7 to 10 weeks is normal in Australia. 1st Appointment: 17th July Date Announced: 4th Sept (7 weeks after 1st appt)) Operation Date: 12th Oct (12 weeks after 1st appt)
  4. Monday ... weigh-in day for this (nearly) 62yo male. Check in mass 20 weeks and 4 days since my gastric sleeve op on 12th Oct. BMI down to 43.16 ... Post-op Loss 20wks+4days 24.7 kilograms 54.45 pounds 3.89 stones A happy result. Not the biggest loss, nor the smallest ... but in median area.

    Fortunately (for me) I am not easily seduced by the smell of warm greasy 'meat-air' and the smell of fried potatoes. Also immune (to the point of vomiting) if I smell fresh doughnuts/donuts.

    6lbs away from knowing I made it...

    Well done to date. I was one of the outliers on here back in July last year. I began at 191.8kg (422 pounds) some time back. Despite the fact that Australia went metric 46 years ago, I still like to check my numbers in pounds and stones as well. Check the RED figure in the table ... I fell under 300 pounds last week. Yeah, that will be a great day ... hopefully early 2019 for me. Good luck maintaining your downward trend.

    By all means, go vegan. That is a worthy aspiration that more people should consider. But, please, your opening statement is only minimally correct. ADJUSTED: "Global warming is real and partially due to the proliferation of the consumer meat industries as well as general industrialisation and misuse of privately owned fossil-fuel driven transport." That's a lot closer to fact!

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

    129 days elapsed since surgery = 18 weeks, 4 days = 4.25 calendar months. Down 22.4kg (or 49.38 lbs) since surgery = 1.2kg per week average (or 2.66 lbs) - - - 129 days elapsed since meeting my surgeon Also known as 31 weeks = 7.07 calendar months. Down 38.6kg (or 85.1 lbs) since July 17th, 2017 = 1.24kg per week average (or 2.74 lbs) I truly had no expectations except to lose comfortably on a regular basis AND to leave my morbidly obese life well behind by my 63rd birthday (June 2019). I hope I'm under 84kg (or 182 pounds) by then ... 91kg lost (200 pounds).

    Ditto. I have to pay close attention to: i) putting down my knife and/or fork and/or spoon between each mouth-load. ii) putting smaller amounts on each forkful/spoonful. [My dietitian suggested using only teaspoons and cocktail-forks.] iii) sipping my drinks AND putting down the tumbler/water-bottle/container between sips. [My dietitian suggested using drinking with a teaspoon from a wide-mouthed cup.] It is very easy to lapse into forgetfulness. It's best if I eat at the breakfast-bar or dining-room table with the TV off and no newspaper or puzzle book open near me. OLD HABITS DIE HARD but I am getting so much better.

    While not an out-and-out BAN, a majority of bariatric surgeons swear a jihad on commercial breakfast cereals. They are poor nutrition overall ... ** USUALLY TOO MUCH SUGAR; ** USUALLY LOW OR ULTRA-LOW FIBRE ** USUALLY TOO FEW COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES ** USUALLY TOO HIGH IN GLYCEMIC INDEX They add to the bread and pastry problem for obese/overweight people. - - - EXCEPTIONS: *** Small serves of rolled oats *** Small to medium serves of steel-cut oats. *** A handful of brands of wholegrain breakfast biscuits made without sugar. The liquid in these should be in the preparation ... NOT in the serving. - - - I find the crockpot version of steel-cut oats ideal - high fibre, filling, integral (optional) milk or skim milk. Would you like the recipe? Just don't add sucrose or milk at the table while serving.

  13. Have a little bit less of the food ... then, after 15-20 minutes, slowly sip room-temperature water. Repeat after another 15-20 minutes.

  15. My typical night out with friends now is very different to ten months ago. 1. I order and eat SIX NATURAL OYSTERS and a 150mL (5oz) glass of white wine at my Tuesday event. This is regarded as an entree. 2. I order "Salmon Cakes with Vegetables" at my Sunday event. I eat one (of two) salmon cakes and nibble at under a third of the vegetables. I accompany that with two tumblers of water in the two hours following. 3. At my Wednesday gathering, I order a deluxe hamburger with hot potato chips (Australian term for "French fries") and garden salad ... and I eat the meat patty, the guacamole coating, maybe two (or three) hot chips out of about 30 and I pick at some cucumber and cherry tomatoes. I leave the bread roll on the plate with 75% or more of the chips and salad. - - - This is an amazing new skill for a man of 62 years who grew up in a home where plates had to be cleared of all food. It was regarded as an insult to the father/breadwinner and the mother/cook/chef to leave anything on a plate. I'm pleased that I can, AT LAST, pass on what I feel won't fit in.

    In Australia, "White Castle" is a brand name for very effective cleaning products.
  17. The best thing to do at McDonalds is to order wisely. 1. Order the Sausage and Egg McMuffin for breakfast with no cheese, no condiments. Then eat only the meat and the egg and give your dog the bread. OR 2. Order the $2 McDouble after 10:30am with no cheese, no condiments. Then eat the two beef patties and give your dog the bread. Using both these clues, you can satisfy the protein needs of your diet FAIRLY HEALTHILY and not eat the sugar infused bun/bread.

    Stop fretting. Your 14 pounds (6.35kg) is okay. 2kg per week post surgery is good. Consistent eating and relatively high protein consumption will see you on track soon ... losing more weight.

    Personally, I allow about 225 - 275 extra calories for every 75 minutes I swim.
