  1. Research is a wonderful thing. I wouldn't worry about the food thing, everyone is different with the band. As you have probably read the band are very individual. I am able to eat small quantites of almost everything. Losing 60 lbs in six months is better than any food. I just went shopping today and for the first time slipped into a regular size 14. WOW, no womens department! that is a GREAT feeling. Wish you luck on your journey.

  2. I have flown several times since my surgery, be aware that altitude affects your band. I get tightness in my chest when in higher altitudes. I write this now on vacation at a ski area and the elevation is 6900 feet. It has been harder to get thing through on this vacation, as I normally live at sea level. The first time I flew this pressure scared me, but my surgeon said that altitude can affect the band. Be aware of sitting too long like the other post stated due to blood clots. I hope your travels are well.

  3. the band is only a tool, if you are not willing to change your eating habits, you will not lose weight. I believe that some people think that this is something magic. You will gain weight if you do not eat the correct things, or lose very slowly. You have to be willing to do all the hard work. I had my band 8/26, and have lost 27 lbs so far, but it has been hard work! Good luck to you in your search.

  4. I use EAS it was recommended alot on this site, I got it at sams for a great price compared to GNC etc. I use one scoop of Protein One cup of light vanilla soy milk (it is thicker and sweeter than skim milk with the same calories) I use 1/2 of a FROZEN banana (I freeze them when they are extremely ripe, like the ones used to make banana bread) and I use frozen dark cherries from the grocery store. It is really delicious. If needed sometimes I add one equal or splenda. I have tried other fruits but I do not like the seeds especially when I am drinking. Hope this helps.

  5. I also have PCOS and I am losing at a good rate, buy like Mindy, my body cannot tolerate any CARBS, unless they are good carbs, NOTHING WHITE. I also eat NO sugar. I am aware that these bad things go down easy, but the band is not easy, it takes thought and preparation to eat properly. PCOS and CARBS are VERY BAD, especially for belly fat. Try going on a high Protein and good veggie diet, and eliminate carbs totally except for carbs in dairy and see what happens. If what you are doing is not working try something else to shock your body. But, you are doing wonerfully, just know that you probably would have gained weight instead of losing. I just know for me CARBS are out.

  6. If you google 2008 lap band conference it will take you to coach cher's website (she is one of the people that have a pic and stories at the bottom of the home page of lapbandtalk) On her site it has all the information. Anyway, I am going alone, and hope to meet some of you there, there appears to be some great information and this is the first one.

  7. i agree, you need Protein at each meal, that is what keeps you full. You need egg with that WHOLE WHEAT toast. You should not be eating alot of white carbs (pasta, white rice, white toast, white potatoes, etc) They have alot of bad carbs. Stick with protein each meal then fill with veggies if you have any room left after your protein. You can do this, remember why you had the surgery.

  8. I agree with the above post, but my preop diet was 2 weeks. I had a Protein Shake for Breakfast with 4 oz fruit, for lunch I had a lite and fit yogurt and an ounce of nuts, mid afternoon another shake with fruit, dinner 4oz Protein, 4oz veggies and 1/2 cup of startch (only good startch, nothing white) before bed I could have another protein shake without fruit. Hope this helps, I lost 10 lbs in two weeks prior to surgery.
