Buyers remorse indeed. I had that same moment of breaking down and crying in my kitchen. My husband soothed me and told me I could do this and comforted me. I didnt realized how much food truly consumed my life. I ended up telling my surgeon and getting involved in a local support group and that has helped. So has this forum. Knowing others have felt what I have felt, and pushed passed it.

I eat Greek yogurt for Breakfast every morning so I have to switch my lunch up or I would lose my mind. I bring a number of different items. Sometimes I do little Protein packs with meat, cheese and nuts and put them in a container. I will sometimes make a sandwich using the Very Thin bread by Pepperage Farm or leftovers.

I try to start mt day with a protien shake. For lunch, I usually eat a packet of low sodium tuna. I pack a little bit of mayo and relish with a sprinkle of seasoning in it to go along with that. I love plums, and muscadines when in season. I also pack pickle spears, lightly salted cashews, and a cheese stick (or some variation) just about everyday. I keep Jerky handy too!

I'm curious, whats in your lunch box?
Being sleeved put the brakes on eating out as much as I use to. So, I've found myself packing my lunch waaaaay more than I use to.
I bought a bag that I like and some colorful Portion Control containers. Which helps a lot.
So what have you done to help with packing your lunch? What are your favorites, must have's, cant stands and OMG-I-wish-someone-would-have-told-me-sooner! for your lunch?
Just trying to eat with an open mind and new options.

You mentioned a key point which was the lack of access to heating or cooling elements. Something we dont always think about right away. And what a cool way to workout!

There was a whole rack of little 6oz baking ramekins at Kohls on clearance one day so I bought them out. Haha. I use them for cooking things as they make the perfect little 4 oz controlled sizes. I LOVE ricotta bakes. (Eggface recipe) with little cut up pepperoni, spinach, and a teaspoon of pizza sauce (which has way fewer carbs than Pasta sauce). I bake 6 of those and use them for lunches and dinners during the week because they reheat quickly. I also make chicken salad with walnuts and dried cranberries, I eat that with a fork or on lettuce wraps. I also really love cucumber Tomato salad with red onion and that blush wine vinaigrette in the fancy bottle. I forget what it's called. Sometimes I throw feta cheese in there too.
Mostly I snack all day (5 small snack-meals instead of 3), and I know that's considered bad, but for what I do for a living, it works well. I just prepack a lot of steamed veggies, fruits, nuts, cheeses, and deli meats and sort of make little plates with those that take 10 minutes to eat. Oooh, and kalamata olives. Ok, now I'm hungry....

ChelleBelle35 reacted to Introversion in Calories In, Calories Out
When people use apps such as MFP, Baritastic or AcalorieCounter.com to track caloric intake, it could be said they're believers in the 'calories in/calories out' principle.
Since a considerable number of people on WLS forums use these calorie-counting apps, it could be inferred that they adhere to this train of thought.
I don't track, measure or count calories. Tracking and calorie-counting is a reminder of the dieters' mentality. Humans are the only members of the animal kingdom who track intake.
I maintain a lowish body weight by focusing on real, unprocessed food 70+ percent of the time. It's impossible to overeat broccoli or steak. It's easy to overeat crackers and donuts.

My doctor is advising low carbs too! I'm six weeks out and still not allowed to eat any raw veggies or fruits. I really miss having a salad. I wonder if it's because it fills you up and doesn't have much nutritional value??? I have been able to eat cauliflower, green Beans, peas, but everything needs to be cooked until it's soft or canned. The canned veggies are awful Just not what I'm used to, I guess. I had a small piece of eggplant parm and it was great!

Everyone's doctor is so different and everyone seems to tolerate different things. My doctor has advised no beans or broccoli for 3 months after surgery because they cause gas which can be very uncomfortable. Other people have posted that they have no problems with those! I think the best thing is try a small amount and see how you feel after it. You may have a very different experience than another person. They always say to introduce one new thing at a time...and I would recommend just having a few bites. It's a learning game for all of us

If you're measuring carbs or sugar, watch the bread and butter pickles. Loaded with massive amounts of sugar.
I am not sure how much in the store bought variety, but my dad makes them home made and I have witnessed the pounds of sugar going into a batch first hand.

    Keep your head up Sis!
This is a journey that's affects all of us differently. We have the surgery in common but where it leads us to in our lives and how we feel about it is as individual as you get.
Have you ever hear the saying "Eat the meat and spit out the bones."? That what you have to do with the negative comments. Take whats good and leave whats not.
I respect and applaud you for sharing your ups and downs and being raw. Its doesn't always invite the kindest of people, but you put yourself out there anyway. You continue on knowing that you are helping the person who feels just like you do but is afraid to say anything for fear of being judged and called names just like you were.
I will be one full month sleeved on the 14th and let me tell you, things have taken a turn for the positive. Im eating and drinking much better and I no longer dread my decision but am beginning to be aT peace with the new me. And yes, I do like watching the numbers going down on the scale. But I certainly didn't feel that way 3 weeks ago. Now, I find myself motivated to try eating in a different way.
I said all that to say, be encouraged. And I hope that things are looking up for you a bit.

Im 4 weeks out as of Thursday and I have been able to tolerate lettuce, pickles, olives, tomatoes and green Beans with ease.
I have really come to like pickles and I was not a pickle eater before. bread and butter are my favorite, then the straight up Dill.

I'm not vegetarian, but after weeks of shakes and puree, I wanted veggies too when I was able to have them. At 4 weeks I was on a soft diet. Cooked carrots and green Beans were very good and I tolerated them nicely. Things that didn't agree with me that early were lettuce and broccoli. I don't do any quinoa yet as I can't imagine if I accidentally eat too much and then it expands after it gets to your stomach. Just make sure you focus on getting your Protein in first, you probably won't be able to eat very much at one sitting. I'm just past 3 months out and I still supplement with Protein Shakes or Protein Bars on a daily basis.

This week I packed a lunch box with a variety of items for the week- string cheese, cheddar jack , plum, hard boiled eggs, grapes $ Protein Bars & a Protein shake
I leave it in the fridge at work and eat from it each day. Yesterday my boss gave me a peach so I ate that, grapes and a cheese stick for lunch. It's not super planned or measured but it's been working for me.
