I like Muscle Milk too, but yes the chocolate is just tooo much - so I mix it with vanilla or just regular milk.

I'm 11 days away from the sleeve - I have a small pile of "going to goodwill" cloths already. but I know what you mean. It's hard to let them go. I have another few that I know I will not be able to wear in a while, bums me out. But I try to focus on all of the TJ Maxx gift cards I've been getting from friends and family, because they know i'll need to get new stuff! I try to think of my 'fat clothes' as helping someone else in my position who need something to wear until their WLS comes along. Stay positive!

It dawned on me this morning that I typically sleep on my side. If you have had your surgery, what side did you sleep on? I have trouble staying on my back due to lower back pain. Could you / did you sleep on your side? How'd it go?

JUST got back from several appointments, one of which telling me about my pre-op diet. Not too bad really. Kind of close to the way I've been eating already. shakes, some fruit, Protein. don't have to d a 'liquid only' diet until 2 days before. lots of material to read just so i'm up on the events as they will unfold. woohoo! tick tock tick tock!

Do they tend to test that for everyone? or only for admitted smokers?

Great news!!!! My surgery has been moved up. No longer June 5, it's now May 29. This means that my current insurance will still be covering me AND they've sent me my approval letter. All duckies have lined up in a happy little row. I'M SO EXCITED !!!!!!!!

seems to be the $10,000 question. Everyone asks me how long it will be before I go back to work. My canned answer is - the first week, forget it. the 2nd week, I might work from home (also a desk job) and hopefully by the 3rd week feel well enough, not only to work, but to drive a car and climb the stairs to my office. I'm lucky to have a good employer, they're fine if I work 1/2 days once I get back into the office.

my company HR guy and the rep for insurance is working hard to fast track me to approval. the surgery is covered, just have to get those pesky papwork people to move it fast. worst case scenario, my surgery gets pushed back a month or so. sad but not the crime of the century. fingers crossed!

I just found out that my insurance through work will be changing RIGHT before surgery. My date is June 5 - insurance changes over to a new company on June 1. I'm working with our insurance rep to make sure there's no delays but man-o-man i'm nervous now! anyone else go through this? going from United Healthcare to Cigna. I did find out that my surgeon is IN network, but awaiting news on approval. ugh.

I have checked out menus whenever I go out now, and look at them with a different eye - with surgery coming up I would still like to join friends and family at restaurants. I see most places have Soups, salads and small sides. no worries.

I would "like" to lose 80 lbs. but i'd be thrilled with 50-60. When I get there, I think it will depend on how healthy I am and how I feel as to how accepting I am at the weight I get down to. I'm not stressed about it, but when discussing it with friends, family and co workers, the "number" always comes up. So that's what I say to people.

my surgeon, while I have a surgery date now, wants my A1C down about a 1/2 point and said we'll do a test about 2 weeks before surgery. the reason is because the higher your A1C, the higher chance of infection afterwards. He did say that if it was too high, he would 'give me more time to get it down'. meaning I could have my date pushed back. so i'm working HARD to get there and not have any delays.

Had a home sleep study over the weekend. WORST. SLEEP. EVER. I had this head band thing with sensors on it, and it also took audio. So I couldn't sleep in my normal bedroom, because my husband also snores and his noise would come out on my test. Also couldn't use white noise machine, or have the tv on. So I slept on the couch. The thing kept falling off of my head and hitting me in the eyes and nose. the tube that goes up your nose (yes up your nose) would then fall out or push up. I couldn't move or it would move. I took it off to go to the bathroom even though they said don't take it off during the test. No way I was going to wear it in the bathroom. This thing was invasive enough as it was. Finally gave up with it after about 3.5 hours. Woke up with an amazing head ache and feeling like I had a hangover. Jeez. How in the world do people sleep with a complete cpap on their face??? i'm concerned about this part of compliance. what if I cant do it?

I'm in New Hampshire - so I cant answer for OH. but, I have my appointment with my surgeon next month. I'm GUESSING i'll have a date with in 2 months. but it does depend on his schedule. As far as insurance - I call them constantly and make sure they have what THEY need. So far so good.
How would you have reacted?

wow, that is a surprising thing for a nurse to say - I think I would have said something to the effect that my DOCTORS know better what is right for me. and left it at that.
