My doc said weigh once a week. You’ll drive yourself crazy. I panicked because I weighed and was down to 202 (morning weigh in) well I went into dr office and weighted at least 4lbs more. I have to remember that I am succeeding and I’m taking this on one pound at a time!!

I did. It was bad, bad from both directions up until a little less than two weeks. I can have good days and bad days. Mostly air/belching. I think I’m causing that by eating too fast.

I took a week off initially. I had surgery on Tuesday 9/12 and tried to go back on the following Wednesday. Big mistake. I lasted three hours and went home for the rest of the week. I was exhausted! Take your time! Heal!

HI everyone. I had a Lap band to a Mini Bypass revision on July 5th. So far. I have lost 23 pounds, but somehow I keep feeling that it should be a bit more. after some difficulty in the first two months with my eating. With a lot of food rejection, I now feel that I can eat quite well. I can eat a small size of fish, or one whole very well cooked and soft chicken thigh. I avoid carbohydrates to maybe one dry diet cracker in the morning with cottage and s bit at lunch (at the most have half a potato or a spoonful of carrots or zucchini with the protein) and concentrate on the Protein. I walk a lot on my job (I am a tour guide) sometimes for two whole hours.. I try to drink enough ( I usually mix Water with sugarless ice tea powder, as flavoured water goes down easier for me )
I completely avoid sweets, Pasta, bread, and eat very little fruit. Also I am not experiencing any cravings really, and because I am eating protein 3 times a day I think that I am getting enough protein and still the weight loss seems to stall. Or am I being unrealistic?? Or maybe I am doing something wrong? Last week. I was at 24 pounds less, this week it came back to 23., I am starting to feel frustrated with this up and down effect!! I would really appreciate some feedback from those of you who went through this before, and how you managed to overcome this! For the record, as this might be an important detail, I am 61. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read and answer. All the best to everyone.

I think we are in the same boat. I’ve posted asking the rate folks have lost weight. Tuesday was 4 weeks post surgery. I can say though I’ve not been quite as good as you. I have had some breads here and there. But I’m not sure at what rate folks will lose weight. I started at 222. Morning of surgery I was 217. I’m down to 196 as of today. My sister doesn’t remember how she actually lost the weight but she remembers plateauing several times. She’s four years post surgery and has jus recently lost a few more pounds. I know slow and steady is good but I hear all these stories of dramatic weight loss very early. I guess my 25 is dramatic for five weeks total

For those that have had gastric bypass, what did your weight loss look like? Did you lose steady and gradually? Did you lose a lot then plateau? I was 222 the day before I began my liquid diet. I was 217 the morning of my surgery. It has been about one month. I’m currently at 196. I wanted to know if this is normal or truly what others experiences were/are like.
And forgive my signature. I can’t figure out how to get back to it to update it!

10/12 will be one month! Other than horrific gas pain at times I'm healing and losing weight pretty steady! I want to know how long this gas lasts. Can you give me your input?

So bypass was 9/12.
Follow up is on 9/30.
At this point I am down 21 lbs. I did weigh Sunday and was below 200 only to weigh again ( feeling really bloated this morning) and discovering I was at 203. Probably not a big deal but I have a few questions.
1. Is this normal? Weight fluctuation?
2. I should be on puréed foods. I'm still having a lot of bloating. I know I'm eating foods of the wrong consistency (and I AM CHANGING IMMEDIATELY after talking with one of my supportive mentors) but I want to know if I've done real damage or if this is where the bloating is coming from.
3. There are very little limitations on my puréed diet but it does say no raw fruits and veggies. I've found some purée recipes I wanted to try. Some call for bananas/avocado...would you try them and make sure you steam the veggies and fruits before purée?
Any advice I can get would be appreciative. I can promise you I am going to make changes immediately.

I will say that I did have spasms within 24 hours of surgery. Oh boy was that horrible! Most of my left side was affected. I thought the bruising came from those!

I had bypass. Yes. I received three separate shots in my abdomen of lovenox! Two on this side and then one on my right side. The one on my right did not do what the left has done.
And yes travelergirl, I'm so dang uncomfortable.
The site is smaller and the bruising is beginning to turn its many shades of glory!

Well it went good. I had a lot of nausea. I was throwing up threw yesterday. I think my pain meds were causing the issues. I've got a really nasty bruise where I had a several muscle spasms. Tuesday was rough! It's gotten better. I'm walking a lot but I still have a lot of pain full gas.

Best of luck. My surgeon told me that the lap band became really popular and many folks without proper training and procedures under their belts were doing the surgeries. Research shows it is less successful but I think a lot of things factor into that.

Today is the day! I'm scheduled for 10am. So much to get to this point! Good news is that I'm already down seven pounds, and I survived a week of a liquid diet.
Thank you for all the support and questions answered along the way!

This was such a good post for me to read! It was like several of you were inside my head! I had kept my circle of trust very tight until a coworker stalked my calendar. I thought my appointment was marked as private. [emoji849] So then came the questions and the unsolicited advice. This is the only reason I didn't want to tell my coworker's. I know I'm part of their gossip when I'm not around. But you know what? It's okay. I'm doing this for me, my children and my health. To hell with them if they think I'm making a bad choice.

I had to have an EGD as part of my approval process. I have 38% body fat so didn't hit the automatic qualifier (for my insurance). My liquid diet prior to my EGD was a veggie broth and a chicken broth. I was told absolutely nothing red. It was so doable. I go in for pre-op on 9/6 with surgery set for 9/12 at 8:15!!!

This is what I needed to see today. I'm 2 1/2 months out and all of a sudden, this monthly cycle has made me feel ravenous. I seem to be eating constantly this past week even if I'm not fully hungry. I have no idea whats wrong with my head right now, so I came here looking for some motivation to get back on track. I'm 100 pounds down, though haven't dared weigh myself this past week for fear of what I will see. Tomorrow is a new day and I cant wait to keep working toward that 1?? Goal. Anything below 200 is my goal at this point.

I go in for bypass on 9/12. My sister is three years post op. She too said she had days like this. Where she felt hungry a good portion. She said she ate more at those times too. She also said that she would have days where she wasn't hungry. She is bw 120-125. She has lost 100 lbs. I think what you're experiencing is very normal.

So I found out today this was my registration appointment t and that my pre-op is 9/6. This means only five days on a liquid diet. I'll take that!!

Nice work. I am sitting at 220 right now. I go to my pre-op today to learn about the next two weeks before surgery!! You seem to have really done well with this! Did you have an exercise routine?

I'm originally from NC! I'm from Greenville! Please keep us posted. I really want to know how folks are making it thru two weeks on a liquid diet! I know I have to!! Would love to hear any of your tips.

Yes. I started at 222 and was down to 217 the morning of my surgery. We aren’t going to have those “woah, you’ve lost a ton of weight” gasps that some may get. Slow and steady.
