You aren’t going #2 because you have no food going in. You can do Milk of Magnesia or Miralax, but the only thing that will really work is when you are able to get more food in. And drink your water! The Constipation was the worst part of the process.

I think the reason I took three years to make the final push was because I was worried about my husbands response. I totally understand. I think my husband is ok because with it is because of my fatty liver and diabetes and the possible good side affect with those health issues after VGS. The only negative thing he said was last night when I had mentioned how stressed I was getting and he asked if I still wanted to do it.
I am stressed mostly because I am a worry wart and it is what I do.

    Keep moving forward.

Thanks for recommending this. My old deep fryer is just sitting on my counter and I know we have broken up but I haven't thrown him out yet. We should get an air fryer. Everyone seems to like them a lot and kids LOVE fries. Wondering how it does with chicken wings. At 2 mos out, I found I could still enjoy one chicken wing baked in oven (my old recipe) and eaten with hot sauce. What a delight that day was.

I thought I was hungry post surgery too, it ended up it was acid indigestion. It's just our nerves send the wrong signal. I started on Prilosec and it went away.

Phentermine is a horrible idea IMO. I'd talk to your surgical team if I were you.

I second peppermint tea. Honestly, marijuana works amazingly well for nausea, far better than zofran. I have to take a medication that shrinks a benign tumor in my brain and it makes me horribly nauseated. Medicinal marijuana works so well. You can get it without a lot THC so you won't get high just the medicinal support.

I am not saying much to most everyone either. My in laws are awesome but say the wrong stuff often and don't need it. Also we have two family members that have that gluten allergy the bad one (can't spell the name of it ) and that is all they talk about at family dinners I don't want to hear it. And I am so glad I NEVER said anything because as long as it took for pre op it would have been a 10 month nightmare.
It took me three years to make this decision and it is mine alone. My husband is supportive my kids know and only five others three of which have had VGS done.
Work is awesome however just have gossipers and can't wait to see the rumors they spread.

A few months ago I met a nurse who has a twin sister and both had VGS and she had said people who have not been in our "fat" shoes have no clue how difficult is and she was so very supportive. It was awesome to hear her story. Her biggest issues with peoples attitudes are the ones who have no clue she use to be big and talk crap about fat people.

Thank you! I haven't told anyone. Just my support group here. Thankfully I have you all!! I hate confrontations and just didn't need to deal with people telling me what they think I should be doing. Only I know what's best for me.

same here. my mom, husband and a couple very close friends know, but that's it. My family would have nothing good to say and frankly it's none of their business. so you're not alone my friend!

I'm still early on in the process, but I've only told my parents, my husband, my best friend and my cousin (who is more like a sister). I'm wishing I hadn't told my friend because she sort of tried to talk me out of it. Even though she had Lapband back in 2010. I don't think I'll be telling anyone else honestly. I'm sure people will find out. It is what it is, I just don't want to have to explain my choice to people. I'm pretty good about being like "cool bye" when people give me their unwanted opinions. I used to do network marketing and heard crap all the time from judgy judy's and let it slide off my back. This is a bit more major though - and I know a lot of people would be judgmental. I actually had a hard time telling my husband to start - he's very judgmental and I knew his initial response was going to be negative. He's come around now because it's more of a health decision than anything. I think it's a personal decision whether you tell people. It truly depends on the people in your circle, how you handle criticism, and the level of trust you have in people.

I my husband and children know and one close friend who has had the sleeve. As a matter of fact I just went through this big ordeal of how to hide the surgery over the holidays. I just don't want to listen to it. Once I have to come out and tell them that I did something I will. I have already decided I will let them all know that it was a personal decision and it was hard enough making the decision without having to hear everyone's opinions and horror stories.

I'm jealous! I started my pre op diet yesterday. It's 12 days of liquids only (2 prepackaged smoothies per day, sugar free jello/pudding- 2 allowed per day,- and the BIG MEAL- a can of broth-based soup).

This is then followed by 2 days of Clear Liquids only. I'm a little nervous to see that the thought is inexperienced drs require this level of pre op [emoji52]

I am not going to lie- I'm miserable and trying very hard to NOT think of how hungry I am or food at all. I have a 10 year old so it's hard when I still have to prepare her meals. I'm really, really trying to stay positive.

    - No idea what I'm doing but I'm here!

I'm telling most family, a few selected friends and just two trusted colleagues.
There has been discussion amongst friends and workmates and, inevitably, many people including some long-term fat/obese people who go on about 'cheating'.
I don't want their negativity and 5h1t. Surgery is my considered choice after over 20 years of losing every dieting battle (about which I used to feel too much shame).
We are, after all, fighting fast food, advertising, mass-produced high-sugar, low-nutrient cr@p and I was too slow off the mark.

I am not telling my family either. My wife knows but no one else. Really not in the mood for well-intentioned yet ill informed advice from the family. Even if the flip side is correct and they full support me 100%, I dont want it to be a constant topic of conversation. Other people thrive on support from family and friends and that was works for them. But for me, this forum and my wife is all the support I want.

WillownWind got a reaction from ZinNH in Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
Went to my first consult in December 2016. I was told I had a six month waiting period. At the current count I am at 25 Dr appointments in (was given bad advice by my primary physician, I will go over that later). After three cancellations due to all pre-op requirements delays......
Finally have a solid date!!! 09/22/17
