I was May 9, 2018. Anyone try super firm tofu? It really upset my stomach. Anyone had that experience with tofu?

I was sleeved the 8th... I had pan-fried extra firm tofu Thursday night and it was all good for me. I didn't have very much of it though, just a couple of thin slices. I was planning on having more next week, so hopefully it's still good!

I am Day 5 post op. Just wondering when everyone started to get there energy back?

I bounced back on the morning of my 6th day post op. I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow and I feel really good, energy-wise! Just keep swimming, you'll pull through this :-)

Its definetly getting better but still got some tenderness around my stomache and sharp pains if I take in anything too fast. Have you started on any "soft" solids yet? Please tell me you have and its a dream...I never realized until I had surgery, TV commercials is overly saturated with food driven marketing. I hate it. Im also getting real tired of this liquid diet too..

Just fyi, theres a great high Protein, very low sugar Ice cream brand called "Enlightened Ice cream"...Its devine! I picked birthday cake at our local Sprouts market...Just fantastic. Its basically a Protein Shake in the form of ice cream but man it hits the spot. Birthday cake didnt have any chunks in it but only sprinkles that melts in your mouth so it was perfect.

No soft foods yet, lol, still on liquids. My next appointment is on Thursday and hopefully they'll okay me to move on to puree then!

I will be flying four days after sugery. My doc is not concerned. I wonder why there would be any need to wait? Its not like going up in the air is going to undo your stitches.

Prolonged sitting (or laying), particularly in a confined space like an airplane, puts you at risk for a blood clot. Having surgery also puts you at risk for a clot, which is why we do things like take anticoagulants, get up and walk around frequently, and wear those booties while in our beds after surgery. A 6 week break from flying is pretty standard for any type of operation when blood flow has either stopped or slowed.

I have a question, don't mean to get off subject but I was sleeved on the 8th and down 8lbs already. Did anyone get the glue on their incisions? If so, did you pull off the glue or did it fall off? I had my one week check up yesterday and the Dr told me that I can pull it off in the shower. I did manage to pull 2 of them off but Im scared to do the rest.

Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I was sleeved on the 8th as well. My glue is holding on pretty well and I haven’t been tempted to pick at it. One of them is nearly off, but as long as it’s still coving the incision, I’m leaving it alone.

You’re lucky you got a check in today! I don’t see my doctor until the 24th, but I’d love some reassurance that everything is on track right now!

I just had my operation on 5/11. The first 2 days was brutal and had to stay in the hospital an extra night. Be comfy, take your deep breaths, and walk so the trapped gas can pass...

I had a rough first night which meant I had to stay for a second, so I feel your pain! It gets better and better every day to the point where I barely remember how bad it was that first night. Okay, that's a lie, I can't forget that, lol, but it doesn't haunt me anymore lol! Best of healing and luck to you in the upcoming weeks. If we have bad hospital stays, we deserve easy recoveries!

Anyone have it 5/7 or near wanting to see how everyone is doing?

Im wanting to get as much support as I can from this site for my husband as he won’t get on here lol

Good luck to everyone on their journey!

May 8th here... I'm hanging in there. I gave myself a goal of walking 5,000 steps every day this week and 7,500 every day next week.... we'll see how that goes. I really really really wanted to go back to work tomorrow and Tuesday for a training workshop, but I don't think i'm ready yet. I'm still hoping I can make it for Tuesday. Three of my incisions are under my boob, lol, and I can't go anywhere until I'm ready to put on a bra!

  8. Thrilled to hear you’re doing so well!! I was sleeved on 5/8, so I’m only 4 days out, but I’m doing better every day as well.

My first night was rough because I have orthostatic hypotension, which I didn’t know about until I tried to stand up to go to the bathroom and nearly fainted. Once the doctor gave me the okay to get off bed rest, I started walking the hallways of the hospital and felt sooo much better.

I’ve been home since Thursday and things are continuing to improve! I have no desire to eat anything. I’m sitting here now while my family is eating pangang curry (a favorite of mine) and it’s no big deal. I know I’ll have it again someday, but right now it doesn’t control me. Unfortunately I can only have Water, Protein Shakes, broth, and jell-o, so my diet is pretty bland, but I’m not hungry and I’m not having cravings so it’s all good.

How are your incisions healing? I think mine are fine. My dog greeted me with a gut punch the day I came home so I was a little worried about that, but everything down that seems okay. Right now I’m rushing for everything to just heal so I don’t have to worry so much.

I'm sorry you are having a painful start. Ask if you can have addition pain medications and nausea medication if you need it! For the first few days my support team kept me mostly pain free with sufficient medication, morphine and then endone when I was able to swallow the tablets. But everyone's body will respond to the surgery differently.

Thanks Taoz, you have been really motivational for me. The pains are due to gas, so I don’t think meds other than gas-x will really help. I want to get up and walk around but my body is soooo not ready! I’m feeling better right now, so I’m pretty happy!

  10. Update: everything still hurts but I’m a little more upbeat about it haha. The two times I’ve tried to stand, I’ve nearly passed out so I’m on bed rest for now. About 5 minutes after my family got here for a visit, I started vomiting and peed myself lol. I’m taking toradol right now and I can take scheduled Tylenol but honestly the pain I’m in is from gas I think, so Idk how much that would help.

My mantra: this won’t last forever, this won’t last forever...

Hi, I felt exhausted, wiped out and headaches also. I read a post where someone said her dr said to get electrolyte sachets from chemist and it would help. Just be careful to get sugar free. I think a lot of it for me is the fact I was eating lots of multigrain bread and suddenly stopped. I find I'm craving cakes and hot chocolates suddenly which is unusual for me.

Thanks for the tip! My doctor said I can put anything in Water as long as it’s zero calories, so I just bought some of those packets... hopefully that’ll help. It’s killing me right now because I’m trying to get a ton of work done before I have surgery so I don’t have to worry about rushing back.

I’m not having any specific cravings.... everything sounds good to me right now! I can barely watch tv because EVERY commercial is about food!

Im scheduled for may 8th, I agree a little scared but ready for the new life style change not being over weight is going to be a wonderful step forward. Anyone here in the Denver area?

Yay! Finally another May 8th-er! I'm not in the Denver area unfortunately, but I am excited to have a buddy to go through this with... best of luck to you!

  13. Technically my 2 weeks doesn't start until Tuesday, but I figured I'd start today because lbr my liver could probably use the help. My doctor gives us a completely liquid option or one that allows lean Proteins and veggies. Friday-Monday, I'm doing the meal diet, then starting Tuesday I'm going all in with liquid. I figure if I can commit to my doctor's recommendation, I have no business having surgery.... easy to say on day one, right!

  14. I got my approval letter from insurance on Friday and it says Date of Admission: 4/10/2018.... so does that mean I have surgery that day?? I haven't heard anything from the doctor yet. I'm super excited to have my surgery, but I thought I'd have a little more lead time lol. I finished my classes and pre-insurance submission stuff on March 7th and I thought I'd have a minute longer before I went in! I'm supposed to be at a conference for work that week :53_cold_sweat:

  15. I would double check that, AnisaLeah. I’m going through the program at Yale and they schedule six nutrition group seminars and one individual meeting with the nutritionist, but that can be completed in the same month as one of the group seminars. I started in September and I’ve done two group seminars and my one-on-one session so far (November group seminar is in two weeks.)

  16. Hi, I am on Husky as well and just went to the initial seminar tonight. Can you give me an idea of how the process went for you? Do you have co-morbidities? How much weight did you lose over the past few months with the exercise and nutritional counseling? If it's too personal, you can leave out details, I'm just really interested in knowing what's in store for me and what the time frame is like. Thanks and good luck with the submission!
