Able to eat more than I should

Junior Guru, thank you for asking these questions. I have to answer no to some of them. I eat my meals too fast and I take my liquid in too soon after or before I eat. I have some changes to make in order for me to see the progress I want. Since I made this post I have been doing better. I can still do better and will do better. I am down 50 pounds since my surgery in September. Thank you, everyone, for responding. Your advice is well taken and appreciated.
  11. Hello everyone, it's been awhile! I pray everyone had a beautiful holiday season. I feel that I can eat too much with my sleeve. I make myself stop eating, because I know I shouldn't be eating much, but what scares me is the fact that I can eat more. I have read people saying they can only take in a few spoonfuls and I can eat an entire meal. I am really worried about this. I am losing weight, but not how I feel I should be. Anyone else feels that they can eat more than you should?

Able to eat more than I should

I was so ashamed and thought I was the only one going through this. I did some research on resetting your pouch and read some very encouraging things. I read it can be done, the stomach will shrink in size because of the lack of solid food you will be taking in. I'm also going to talk to my surgeon about this and see what he has to say.

I think I need to reset my pouch. Starting tomorrow I'm gonna go back on protein shakes and liquids for about two weeks, just in case I might have stretched my pouch.

alexandrannz when you say it took you over a year to work up to eating about half a meal. I'm assuming you were eating much less from the beginning.

Able to eat more than I should

Hello, I had it September 19, 2017. I have lost 44 pounds since I had my surgery, but I feel like my pouch can take in too much.

    gastric sleeve scars

Hi guys, it will be three weeks tomorrow since my surgery. What are you guys using on your surgery scars to fade them? Mine feels a little raised and hard. I hope it isn't scar tissue.

    gastric sleeve scars

@Danny Paul, thanks for sharing that information. I wouldn't have thought of doing that. I think I will contact my dermatologist, he does cortisone injections.

    gastric sleeve scars

Started using bio oil last night and will get some mederma scar cream today. I never had keloid skin, I sure hope this isn't the case. I go back to my doctor next week. I will inquire about this. Thanks guys!

    September 2017 Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

@NZFinallyFree, glad to hear everything is going well for you and I pray it continues to do so. You're right, I think every doctor has their own set of rules...well it looks like it anyway. I go for my one week post op tomorrow and boy oh boy do I pray he tell me I can try something other than the liquids, but from what he has told me already, I highly doubt it will change tomorrow, but a girl can hope, right?

    September 2017 Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

Hey everyone! Good to see everyone doing so well. I had my surgery the 19th, last Tuesday and my doctor told me to continue clear liquids for one week post op, then full liquids starting the second week, then on to pureed, etc. He said I must follow this if I don't want my staples to come loose. I have also seen videos and read on other sites that the stages getting back into food is very important not to be rushed. Mannnn, what I would do for a little oatmeal right about now. I have been on these liquids since September 3 and to say I am about to go crazy is an understatement. But the good thing is I'm healing much faster than I expected and I'm not hungry, I'm just tired of these liquids.

    Early Morning Sleeve

Hey guys, got a call and my surgeon wants me at the hospital @ 5:30 a.m. instead of 6:30 a.m. Please say a little prayer for me and all our friends going through surgery. Can't lie, feeling a little scared, but I know God will see me through. Goodnight all and Godspeed on our new journey.
  22. Hey guys, just a quick question. I get sleeved tomorrow and I have been reading some of the post about pain meds being your best friend. I have a very low tolerance for pain meds, they make me feel sick and nauseous when I eat, so I know not eating and taking them is going to really upset my stomach. Have any of you experienced sickness from pain medicine, since we're basically taking it on an empty stomach?
  23. Only told my husband and my two daughters, not my son, he's too opinionated. Didn't tell sisters, brothers, other family members or any friends. Don't want to hear their two cents worth.

    Today is the day

Prayers going up for you dear. God Bless you and the Hands of your Surgeon. I'm right behind you. My big day is tomorrow! You Got This!!
  25. Hello to all my bariatric buddies. I just can't believe it's that time already...SURGERY TIME! Two more days! From the time I gave sleeve surgery a thought, to getting my surgery date, it only took four months. I started second guessing myself, asking, did I really think this through, do I really need the surgery, did I do everything I could do to lose the weight before making this decision, am I ready to give up the pleasures that junk food and those delicious sweets bring me...YES, YES, YES AND HELL YES!!!! I have been fighting a losing battle with weight for over 20 years. My health has paid for that losing battle. I made this decision for me and for nobody else. Yes, I love my family and want to be here for a long time for them, but the decision to have this life changing surgery was for me. I pray everything goes as planned and I can say I am a success story and if that happens it goes without saying I will be here for the family I love so much in the way I should be. I am an author and have these great novels I want to present to the world, I have songs I have written and want a great talent to sing my songs, but with all the added weight I don't have the energy to do the foot work it will take for that to happen and I have been so embarrassed to speak in a public setting because of the weight. I pray all that will change and I will get this second chance at life. A life filled with adventures and not being afraid to show myself and my talents to the world. Good luck to you all on your journey to a healthier life.
