    How much can you eat?

    I'm 4 months post op. I've lost 45 kg /100 lbs. I can eat about 1/2 cup at a time - almost 1/2 a sandwich. I have 3 meals a day - about 600 - 800 calories.

    Anyone here 360+ pre-op?

Hi, I was 196 kg /436 lbs at the start of my journey. 4 months post op and I've lost 45 kg/100 lbs. Apart from being over weight I am very healthy with no other health conditions. I had no trouble with the surgery, I felt really good within 24 hours and could have gone back to work 3 or 4 days post op. I am confident that I've made the right decision - I love my sleeve.

    Depression and Anxiety Post-Op

Hi, I have bipolar and severe anxiety. Like you, I have worked really hard on my mental health over the last couple of years to get into a good head space. My mental health is now pretty stable and I'm working and have good relationships with my family and generally happy and stable for the most part. A lot of the psych med's I've been on for the last 20 odd years cause weight gain, which is part of the reason that I was over weight. Four months ago I had the VSG, I maintained a close relationship with my psychiatrist up to the surgery and post op. The sleeve has had zero impact on my mental health, my medication hasn't changed at all, although in saying that it is pretty standard if you have bipolar that you will be on medication for life. I'm sorry I can't tell you that it has improved, but I'm glad that it has had zero impact, I did have some concerns my mental health could get worse due to the stress of surgery. Good luck with your surgery and mental health.

4 days post op, sugar crashing

I had the same problem straight after surgery, for the first couple of day. The nurses kept taking my blood sugar levels and I had to drink apple juice and glucose water to correct the low levels. My surgeon wasn't too concerned and it sorted it self out once I started on shakes and other liquids.

    Bypass , sleeve, lapband?

I had my sleeve done 4 months ago and I've lost 45 kg/100 lbs. This is the best decision I've ever made. You can eat what ever you want with the sleeve, tonight I had a Christmas party and had 1 small piece of pizza, obviously wouldn't eat it every day, but as a once off it caused no problems. I would do it again no questions asked. I just wish I had it done 10 years ago.

What couldn't you be without now?

I prepared and brought so much food for post surgery and it was a waste of time. I was on liquids for 2 weeks. After 48 hours I felt fine and could defiantly prepare a meal or go to the shops. The only thing I would suggest would be lip balm for the hospital, I always get cracked lips in hospital... Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

    Not losing weight

I had a huge stall at 2.5 weeks post surgery, it lasted for 2 weeks. I started to doubt the whole process and I was wondering 'Why have I done this???'. My stall went for 2 weeks and then it broke. I've gone on to lose 100 pounds in 4 months. My Doctor advised that stalls are very normal and your body needs them to catch up on the weight loss. Don't stress just stick with your plan and the weight loss will come.
  17. Lots and lost of water. Every time I thought about food I had more water, it got me through to the next shake. Good luck with your pre-op diet and best wishes for a speedy recovery for your surgery.

    Surgery tomorrow 12/27

Best wishes for a speedy recovery
  19. I had those exact feelings the day before and morning of my surgery. I think 2 weeks of a liquid diet was starting to effect me and my thinking. After thinking things though I new I'd made the right decision, I'd tried every diet out there and never kept the weight off long term, I needed the surgery or I was going to develop health complications as I got older. Your not alone, its normal to have second thoughts when you are making a big decision. Good luck with your surgery.

I can’t be the only one

You will lose weight, I'm 4 months post op and lost 45 kgs (about 100 pounds). I'm just never hungry. I need to remind myself to eat. It's not like dieting, it's like having a reset and starting again. Good luck!

    3 weeks until VSG (nervous!)

I was sleeved in August, so I'm 4 months post op. Getting sleeved has been the best decision I've ever made in my life. I've lost 45 kg so far and I intend to really focus on exercise in 2018 so I'm hoping my losses will increase. I also suffer from crippling anxiety (as well as bipolar) my psychiatrist was a great help in settling my mind and helping my realize why I was making this decision. Good luck!
