    popsicles, yes or no?

It's summer here and there are a few hot days coming up, I think I'm going to get some sugar free Popsicles. Thanks for the suggestion Best wishes for your upcoming surgery.
  2. Hi, everyone is different. At this stage I don’t get hungry at all. My doctor had advised that this will change in time and I’ll need more calories .

    I am New Here!!!

    Welcome
  4. That’s a lot of food. I’m 4.5 months post op and eat about 1/2 -of that.
  5. Hi, for the first few months I was having about 450 calorie a day. It wasn’t enough once I started exercising/weights my NUT advised I increase my calories to 600 -800. I feel much better since increasing my calories, more energy and enjoying life more. I’ve had a few stalls, that’s just part of it. I’ve lost 48 kgs/105 pounds total inc 2 week pre-op liquid diet. My surgery was 21 Aug 2017. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Exercise After WLS - Friend or Enemy

Exercise has so many many health benefits besides weight loss. Most Doctors recommend exercise - I’m not in support of his views. Each to their own - best wishes for your weight loss journey.

    Looking for friends

You’re not alone. I had my surgery 4 months ago. By far the best decision I’ve ever made.
  11. Congratulations, you look great

    So scared

Obviously there are always small risks associated with surgery, and your surgeon would have discussed these with you... but you need to consider what your risks are if you don't have the surgery, heart disease, joint replacement, cancer, diabetes etc etc. Maybe you can have another chat with your treating Doctor's - I found my GP very helpful when I was freaking out about my surgery. Best wishes.

    Almost time

You got this! Best wishes for a speedy recovery
  16. Sorry to hear this, sounds like you've been to hell and back. Could you see a different therapist? You might find someone who you 'gel' with better and get better results. Good luck.
  17. If you're not comfortable in telling your surgeon, maybe this isn't the right surgeon for you? Do you have other options? Best wishes for your surgery.

    Hair loss

I'm obviously not an expert, but it sounds reasonable to me that being in pain from a back injury could be putting stress on your body, which in turn lead to hair loss. A herniated disc is a miserable injury and very painful, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Hang in there, everyone loses weight differently and at different speeds. It is frustrating if you're not getting the results you expected but you have lost 48 pounds in 4 months - which is a great result! Best wishes for your weight loss journey

    Medication and Slow Weight Loss

OP, my Psych changed my meds when I questioned if my meds were contributing to me not being able to lose weight. My anti-psychotic was changed from Quetiapine (which apparently is VERY weight gaining) to Asenapine (which isn't weight gaining). My SSRI was changed to Fluoxetine. My Psych said that Fluoxetine can aid in weight loss in some people, I'm not sure if this is of any help to you. I noticed your in the USA - I have no idea if you have the same medications or any idea how your health system works I just wanted to tell you about my personal experiences. Of course everyones Doctor has a different opinion and everyone is going to react differently to medication, so it might take a bit of trial and error which can be frustrating. Best wishes in finding the right combination for you
  22. I had a stall 2 weeks post op. My Dr advised it is common as your body is adjusting to the reduced calorie intake. The stall passed in about 10 days and the I dropped a lot of weight. [emoji2]
  23. You will feel the restriction when you progress to denser food. Great work with your recovery [emoji3]

Support please - surgery on January 11th

Same as the above posters, surgery was easy. The pain was nothing - the stomach pain felt like I had done sit ups the day before and the incisions felt like a paper cut. The gas pain is annoying more then anything. I came off all pain killers with in a couple of hours as I didn’t want to be hooked up to the machines and just wanted to walk around. I was tired for about a week. Best wishes for your surgery.
