    I regret this surgery

Queen Tiff, I think you're brave to share and not suppress your emotions. We all were told this would be hard, but learning it and living it are two different things. I'm 2 weeks post op and I too have had my fair share of "what the heck did I just do?" I get it, and I hope you can focus on the positive support you've received on this thread and let the haters stew in their own bitterness. So many of us stand with you, hoping and praying your heart and mind are comforted by the knowledge that you are strong and brave to have taken this step. You will have highs and lows, but I think in the long run, you will overall be happy with the new you. Take time to mourn the losses--whatever they may be for you. It's important for your psychological health to let those feelings have a place. Stuffing them will just marinate them into some other negative explosion. We don't have food to regulate us anymore, so it's even more important to feel the feels. It does feel like we will never indulge in our favs. But I can tell you, watching my mom who had the surgery 10 years ago, she eats any and everything. Yeah, she gained probably 30 of her 90 lost back, but she's still much healthier and enjoys life. I will enjoy life. You will enjoy life. This mind set has helped me as I served my family desert and I ate my fudgesicle, made them lasagna tonight and I had a ricotta bake--this is just temporary. I will have those things again, just not today. Wishing you peace of mind and hydration!

    Scareddd

I was sleeved two weeks ago. My pain was pretty minimal. In the hospital, I was pretty much painless as I was on the magic drip. I came home the next day and took Dilaudid for one more day. After that it was Motrin and Tylenol for about 3 more days, and I was well controlled (and I'm not exactly a whimp, but I don't have a high pain tolerance). I have 3 kids at home. Although my pain was minimal, my exhaustion was more debilitating. My husband stayed home that whole first week. My kids are older (6,10,14) and in school, and I was still pretty wiped out just getting them up and out to school and back the second week. This week (third week post op) is much better. But then again, I'm not lifting babies and toddlers. I did do some light housework about day 12--picking up toys, clearing off counters, and my large incision where they went through my abdominal muscles were pretty sore. But a dose of Tylenol took care of that. With your kids being 1 and 3, if you stay home with them, my advice would be to have back up for at least two weeks. I'd be concerned with you lifting them even beyond that point. Your surgeon should have a good idea of when it's safe for you to lift and carry kiddos. Having said all that, I do think it's totally worth it. I wish I had done this earlier--not only for my own health, but for my kids sake, too. I know a higher energy level would have benefited them, would have made my mom-life easier. Plus, with your kiddos being so young, they will be unaware of what's going on. I've had to be very strategic in how I have presented this to my kids. I don't want them to think that fat=surgery. I've worked hard to make sure they don't have the same dysfunctional relationship with food that I have, and shielding them from this somewhat traumatic event has been heavy on my mind. I wish I had done so when they were younger.

    Anyone jealous?

I'm two weeks post op...the "easy" part of this journey is fresh in my mind. If she says, "the easy way" one more time, give her my number. I'll tell her just how "easy" it is.... But in all seriousness, it's none of their business. We've been so judged by society based on how we look. No need to bring on more judgement of how we've decided to take control. I only told a few safe people. (My in laws don't even know.) If I had to tell ppl I was having surgery, I would just say it was for some digestive issues--which is true. Only one person probed deeper and I said, "it's weird to talk about because it's kinda personal." People probably think I have some bowel issue, but I don't care. When my weight loss starts to show and ppl start to inevitably ask, I plan on telling them "I just started taking care of myself. High protein, low carb and lots of walking." All true. My nutritionist also suggested to just deflect and ask them questions about themselves as people generally like to talk about themselves and will soon forget about your skinny butt. You get to take care of you right now. You've lived under the scrutiny of a culture that discriminates against the obese. You don't owe anyone an explanation. If they don't like it, that's in their yard, not yours. No one should make you feel bad for your decision to take care of yourself. Is it extreme? Yeah. But it's also brave and courageous.

    Hot Flashes and diarrhea

Try stopping the IsoPure. I wasn't using it at first, but then added it and I started experiencing your same symptoms. Once I stopped I felt so much better. Hopefully that's all that's going with you. A call to your surgeon is still probably warranted.

    How was recovery?

My pain is very minimal. I'm at Day 13 post op and was off all pain meds at like 1 week. (Off narcotics day 3). I had no nausea miraculously. (Usually anesthesia and I don't agree.) GI on the other hand, it took about 10 days for my intestines to figure this all out. I had some diarrhea (like QUICK get to the restroom NOW kind) mostly days 5-10. I was able to control it with one dose of Imodium. But I figured out it was my Isopure Drink that was causing it. Once I eliminated that, I have been a-ok. Taking a probiotic too has always helped me stay regular in previous weight loss attempts.

    How was recovery?

"...a lot under 5..." Yes, AT least three weeks for you. Talk to your surgeon about lifting recommendations. Yesterday (day 12 post op) I did a lot of bending and picking up toys, straightening up, light housework really, and today, my abdominal muscles that were cut were definitely feeling it. Everyone is different. I tend to be a moderate to quick healer and was active pre-op. But I am still having to force myself to slow down. Luckily I have an amazing husband who is very hands on with the kids and gives me the freedom to take it easy when I need to. It'd be much more difficult without the back-up.

    How was recovery?

Sleeved on 8/14... my surgeon says Day 15 for purrees/soft foods. [emoji31] Cottage cheese never sounded so good. Tuesday I will dine like a queen with my hummus and ricotta bake. Watch for fireworks. There WILL be a celebration.

    How was recovery?

I was sleeved on 8/14. I'm a stay at home mom, so similar job to you [emoji6]. I would say two weeks should be fine, 3 if you can swing it. My pain was not prohibitive of me taking care of the kiddos, but my exhaustion was more of the issue. I'd break into cold sweats walking them into school last week (1 week post op. Im feeling WAY better in terms of energy starting at like at Day 11) Personally, as a mom, I wouldn't want anyone who had this surgery to be in charge of my kids until at least 2 weeks post op. If you nanny for active kids, forget it. Go three weeks. There's still so much to get used to. Take this time to focus on you and forming new long term habits. It's been a challenge for me to focus on slowly hydrating myself, slowly feeding myself, getting my protein slowly in while ALSO caring for my kids (6,10,14). I don't know the ages you nanny for, but I was advised to not lift anything more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks. As a mom, I know that ain't happening, but you should give yourself at least three weeks before you're picking up babies/toddlers and such. Best of luck!

    STALL BROKEN! HELLO ONEDERLAND

Very inspiring! Well done and I hope to join you someday. For now, I'll continue to drink bone broth and read everyone's success stories as I'm only 7 days post-op. Thanks for sharing [emoji4]

    Hungry!

Hey all! I was sleeved on 8/14, 5 days out, and am definitely feeling true hunger. Like stomach growls and empty tummy feeling. Is this typical? Don't most sleevers not have true hunger pangs? Is there any hope that the "hunger" will go away as I continue to heal? Thx! HW 289 SW 283 CW 272 GW 170

    Hungry!

I've never had heartburn so I don't know what it feels like. I am on Pepcid for acid reduction 2x a day. The hunger doesn't hurt or burn, but maybe it could still be reflux. I don't see my surgeon until 2 weeks post op. I'll bring it up then if it continues to happen. Thx
