    November sleevers here

I'm today at 1pm. Long morning so far. I'm starving and kinda weak/tired from clear liquids only. Have a pretty decent headache. It's 7:30 am and don't need to leave for hospital until 11:15. Think I'll quilt a bit and keep my mind off. My husband is making sausage and eggs and I am having hard time with smell I'm so hungry LOL. I'm not nervous YET. Just want it over with. I'm keeping positive.

    November sleevers here

Question...for those that have had the surgery already and those that are close. Does your surgeon put a Scopolamine patch behind your ear before surgery? My dr does. I've used these before for air and sea sickness. I wonder if he does it because of the nausea?

Yup you are a November sleever LOL What a difference around the world with the "diet" and even all over the USA. I will be on liquids ONLY for 3.5 weeks. Then I will be on puree foods for 3 weeks, then soft foods for 3-4 weeks and then start small meals. So your puree potatoe and cottage cheese that you ate after a week, I cannot have for 3.5 weeks. Though I will like the full liquid diet so much better than this clear liquid diet. At least full liquid has protein drinks which fill you up. Course I have not been sleeved yet. Two days. Thanks for sharing your story. I think all of us "pending" are curious and even nervous about what to expect. Everyone's experience is so different. Continued good luck to you!!!

Oh good luck with your journey you two Nov 1 sleevers! Keep posting how things are going. I go in two days. Right now, I'M STARVING. My gosh I hate nausea so bad. I think it's the pain meds and nothing in our guts for a few days before surgery. That's what vitamins do to me when I take them before I've eaten. Stay strong!!! Sounds like maybe the worst is behind you! I think that all newbies struggle with getting in the protein. We have limited volume but alot of protein and water to get in!!

what are your other apps? I'm pretty much open to anything that will help. I use my fitness pal to log food. That one is helpful because it has the bar code scanner and eventually remembers your favorites. Shouldn't be too hard when I'm 3.5 weeks on liquids hahahaha

    November sleevers here

The only reason I am worried is because I NEVER EVER EVER take time for myself. To eat or drink. Sometimes I eat a can of chicken right out of the cabinet, standing at the sink. I work out of a home office for a firm and have for over 10 years. I'm VERY VERY hard on myself. I'm a "perfectionist" with everything except ME. So I'm last on the list and I need to make myself FIRST on the list. I never have my whole life and I'm 56. So that will be struggle. So I'm not nervous about eating or not eating in front of people or people knowing or asking questions. I'm very buffered from that. But not taking the time because of an insane job with constant deadlines.....yes....I'm extremely nervous about that. I don't want to get sick or end up in the hospital because I don't stop to drink or stop to get my protein in. The only thing that I heard is that we may be pretty darned tired after only a week. So here's to US managing our damned jobs! LOL! Oh and yes....I'm one of those that barely eats during the day and then pigs out at night and goes to bed 3 hrs later. HENCE THE WEIGHT. So yes, I have a whole lotta work on ME to do. Good luck to you

    November sleevers here

I get sleeved in 2 days, 11/8. I was not nervous at all but starting to be. I'm a planner and I keep going over my planning, my "recipes" to get in enough protein etc. I'm concerned about drinking enough water. It's not that I can't or don't already (I typically drink anywhere from 80-100 ozs day now) but I drink in gulps. Like a cup or more at a time. Then an hr or so and another huge gulp. BECAUSE OF WORK. It's so intense and I could be involved in something and just ignore everything else. I've tried to sip sip thru the day and so far have failed. I have a week off of work after my surgery and I'm hoping to "learn" the sip every few mins process. So that when I go back, I'll have that under my belt so to speak. There is an app called HY that I'm hoping will help me. I've set it up to remind me every 15 mins. I just need to NOT IGNORE IT!!! The nurse that is in charge of me getting to surgical point and afterward told me that any readmits are due to dehydration esp in the first week or so. We are getting IV hydration in hospital, so once released, it's all up to us. So that's my fear, I'm definitely NOT going to be a readmit because of hydration!!

Jeez those pain meds in hospital are amazing. They prescribed me Oxy as well but I picked up sugar free liquid Tylenol and if I can help it, that's all I'm taking. They told me that energy would be low. We are on very low calories so body is dialing it back so we "survive". I've heard that after a week or so, energy levels will pick up and I guess the more protein we get in, the better for healing and energy. good luck!!!
  16. One thing that I found out in my last meeting before my surgery (Nov 8th is surgery date!!), is that we can become lactose intolerant. While most of the better protein mixes are made with whey isolate, some are not. I'm ALREADY lactose intolerant and have been for 20 years, possibly my whole life. I have to be careful. Premier Protein premixed chocolate upsets me big time. The vanilla not so much. I too bought the Genpro medical grade and tried it, it's fine. I need to pick up Unjury Chicken. The protein mix that doesn't bother me at all is Muscle Milk. I use the Vanilla Creme. Mix up a scoop of that, a tablespoon of PB2, 1/2 banana, and 8oz of Fairlife (lactose free) skim milk with ice. It's truly heaven in a glass. After surgery I cannot add the banana til after Nov 29 as I'll be on full liquids only till then. Banana is a puree food on my diet. I also use plant based protein mix and had my dietician look it over as well as the nurse that ran our life skills class. It's fine and meets all requirements. So if you have become lactose intolerant, maybe try a plant based. I've tried so many and the pea proteins just suck. The one I like the best, and it's grainy not smooth like Muscle Milk is, is Garden of Life Raw Fit. I've tried the chocolate, vanilla and Marley Coffee. LOVE that Marley Coffee! I will take a scoop of that, mix a little water with it to turn into a kinda paste, then add a small container of 0% plain greek yogurt (you could use vanilla). Mix up good. Eat it. A scoop of the Raw Fit is 28 grams protein, 1 gram sugar. Added to the greek yogurt, that's an additional 20 grams protein (I use Fage). If you make a shake out of it and use a cup of Fairlife skim milk, that's 13 grams more of protein. ONE shake, that may take you all day to drink, will have 61 grams of protein. BAM! OR If you use 2 scoops Muscle Milk (32 gr protein), 1 cup Fairlife (13 g), 1 container plain greek yogurt (20 g) and 2 tablespoons of PB2 to add peanutbutter flavor (5 g protein), you have a nice delish drink, that usually DOES NOT upset my sensitive gut, for 70 gr protein. All these are low sugar. If it takes all day to drink, you have your protein in. Adding in a TABLESPOON of Genpro medical grade no flavor adds 30 additional grams. While all these higher end protein mixes and esp the medical grade are pretty expensive. When you think about it, one of these shakes I've mentioned will probably be our MEALS for the day, makes it inexpensive compared to what we COULD be eating. Good luck! I hope some of these suggestions help because It almost sounds like you have a lactose problem now.
  17. It's just too bad, isn't it? I would love to tell my husband's family and my family, but I don't dare. But...here's the thing on that one. Throwing a baby shower at my house for my son and wife Dec 23. I would imagine that I could be down a good solid 25 lbs by then. There are sure to be questions and I will be on puree foods then. Sooo....we'll see. It's a big family party with men and women. So maybe with so many people I won't be noticed. My daughter and son and daughter in law and hubby know. That's it. My daughter is going to help me think of some party foods that would be ok for me to eat too so it's not as noticeable. That I'm not really eating. I really don't want to have to announce at this party. If anyone has ideas on puree party foods that I could serve AND eat, I'm all ears! LOL!! Good luck to you Yvetted53, I hope you have at least one support person. If not....lots of great people on this site to bounce stuff off of.
  18. First....OMG on the the Gyno...a DR no less. Shows how absolutely uninformed the medical community can be let alone the average person. I've said it before and I'll say it again and my surgery is not till Nov 8th.....this is and will continue to be one of the hardest things I have done for myself to lose weight. And I've done it all. At least this one will work and not stop working and bring friends! CONGRATS...I'd say MASSIVE congrats on your success! my goodness....4 months post op and at your goal weight? oh my gosh. I figured I wouldn't reach my goal weight for a year minimum! Good for you!

My surgery was just scheduled today for Nov 8th. I need to use mine because my insurance "rents" it and I need to be compliant with it or I will have to pay for it. Starting Jan 1 I would need to rent it myself for $80/month. I said NO WAY IN HECK. As soon as I can bring it back I will. I will talk to my nurse who I will meet with like the week before surgery. I will ask if I truly need to bring it to hospital. If I do, I do. But yup after that. Last night I didn't wear it. I was extremely tired and went to bed late due to work and I said...screw this LOL I will be 100% compliant with everything else. And I'll probably be compliant with the capap from now on too. Last night was my rebel moment hahahaha
  20. I'm going to def look into this. Thanks for all the tips and info!!
  21. The vitamins come in a powdered disc like thing. So each day or 3x a day, from what I read, you turn it on and and GO or whatever and it dispenses water to mix with the powder vitamin from the disk as a 2 oz liquid. So you put your little cup under it, and drink it down and have your liquid vitamins for the am. So yes you fill with water. I don't own one, only the research I've done. They have a FB page.
  22. I read a review that another bariatric surgery person did on the Tespo. She really liked it, Felt it made her more compliant but she still had to take extra vitamins outside of this because Tespo's vitamin packs did not have enough like calcium B-12 etc. Do you need to take additional vitamins in addition to? That person gave a thorough review but it wasn't dated. She was in correspondence with Tespo and Tespo expressed great desire to work with the bariatric community. I can actually see more bariatric people using this than non. Since that review could have been a year or two ago, I didn't know if they have "upped" their vitamin packs or made bariatric specific ones. Sounds like a good idea. It's more expensive than vitamins, so I think I will wait and see how compliant I am with the chewing and swallowing pills. If not, I will do this as I want to keep my hair, bones and teeth long term!!! To me...put it next to the Keurig. Shot of vitamins, shot of coffee! win win!
  23. wow thanks...they actually gave you BRANDS I like that! Thanks again!!
  24. I'm curious about this as well. We really didn't get recommendations, just take multivitamin, calcium and B12. But what we take, they recommend chewable, sublingual or gummies but that's the extent of it.

I have mild sleep apnea and sleep study figures I can get off it once I lose a bit. I don't honestly care, I'm taking myself off it within 2 weeks after my surgery. I HATE IT.
