1. Maryvsg87 - I don't have too much advice because I don't start till next week but have you considered nectar for variety? I've tried a few from the variety pack (https://www.google.com/search?q=nectar+protein+sample+pack&oq=nectar+protien+&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0l5.4783j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) and they are really good. Premier are great too.
Your positive attitude is awesome! Good luck to you today [emoji4]

Awww thank you I will give them a try.

  2. I find the shakes to be too thick for my pallet so I added about 4 ounces of unsweetened original or vanilla almond milk to mine too thin it up and make it easier to get down.

You can do this! I know it seems difficult. But just get through today. Keep hydrated. Drink your Water. Each day is a new day. So just keep doing one day at a time.

    Good luck!

Ok but I don’t know if I can add any milk because I’m doing the clear liquid and Protein diet... I’m going to ask on Wednesday when I go to sign for surgery!!! Yes thank you so much one day at a time! [emoji3]

  3. You can do this! It's truly the definition of mind over matter. When I was just a few days into my liquid only diet, I thought about the reason we have to do it. My Dr. wants my liver as small as possible so it's easier to get to the stomach. I definitely want to make his life easier when he's operating on me! This thought process really helped me through. I'm 11 days in and I can say it gets easier! Just take it one day at a time [emoji4] oh and get the caramel Premier Protein shakes - they're heaven!

Thank you so much definitely thinking about my liver.... I don’t want any complications anything to make it easier for the surgeon! You are awesome and you are going to do awesome!! Can’t wait to hear you on the other side!! Yay [emoji3]

Hey all! I saw my dentist last week and thought this would be a good place to share what I've learned. Hopefully it helps you research, prepare, or prompt a conversation with your dentist. :)

Apparently, tooth decay and tooth loss after surgery is a common thing. There are a bunch of reasons for this, vomiting, Vitamin deficiency, etc..

I'm pretty fond of my smile and I refuse to let this happen to me!

I hate Water and my nutritionist said, try True Lemon - it's natural and safe. But, what I've now learned, from a dental perspective, is that it's full of citric acid which will eat away at my tooth enamel. So I have to suck it up, drink the Water, and add the True Lemon as a treat. (Totally derails my water after surgery game plan - but I will have teeth)

Haven't had a fluoride treatment in I can't tell you how long, but now this will become part of my 6 month check up to better protect my teeth. Also, I was instructed to use mouthwash with fluoride.

This is some of what I learned. Not saying it'll apply to everyone but it's something to think about.

    Thank you for information.

I have neither ... but I guess that depends on the state and hospital, for example; I have Metroplus to the hospital I’m going it doesn’t required any supervised visits or certain weight lost, just 2 weeks of liquid diet and the pre op check up, but for another hospital it required me 6 months supervised diet.
Best way I check different places and seminars.

    Good luck !

“There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits.” —Michael Phelps

i agree with this I myself have metroplus and mines didn't required supervised visit but it did require GI: Endoscopy, cardio, pulmonary, sleep study, chest x-ray, PFT because of the pulmonary, psych eval, 2 support groups and nutritionist 1 visit. But that varies per person and per state and per insurance. I would say call and ask the insurance maybe they can better help you. Also what city, state you are in?

  9. Hello there! I'm doing two weeks pre-op, I started three days ago. I'm wondering if any of you that are on your pre-op diet can eat colleen 5595 My surgeon has two options for us. The first option is a regimented solid food diet of 1200 calories or less. Essentially I'm eating five times a day. Three meals and two Snacks. The second option would be two Protein drinks as meals with a third meal a regular lean protein with a non starch veggie. I was worried at first, too, since everyone says they are on liquids for two weeks, but I am content to follow my doctor's orders.

I say follow your doctor’s orders and what you feel that’s right. I myself am following my doctors Pre-op diet but I’m adding 2 extra weeks because I feel like I need to. It won’t be harmful to me in fact it will be better for my health and I believe if I do this he would have better access to my stomach. The pre-op diet that you are following is the normal pre-op diet which is what we all are doing is just the “how long” that changes. I don’t think there is a right or wrong just as long as we not going crazy eating whatever “greasy, high in fat, high in sugar” kinds of food right before surgery.

That being said I am excited for all of us for making a lifestyle change to better our health.

What do you mean by eating food five times a day? I just started today and I’m having basically liquids till the day of surgery. shakes, teas, broths, maybe I’ll add Jello but I don’t know yet.....
