August Sleevers-How are you doing??
it's normal, I stalled for two weeks (weeks 2 and 3). Got very downhearted. Was really struggling to eat enough calories, have now managed to up it to around 800 a day and have lost a further 15 pounds. 36 in total. Just going into week 5. Don't let it get you down, it will happen - how can it not?

Anyone from Great Britain
Thanks so much I appreciate you taking the time to go through this with me. I seen my doc 5 years ago and asked for help, he said he would look into it but didn't. I nagged him but got no where. In the end I have had to pay privately, even though I had a number of ailments that supported me getting it done on nhs. I went to Nuffield hospital in Leicester, they were very good, though the anethnatist was an ignorant pig!! I didn't have too much pain afterwards and got out the next day. Suffered a bit from sickness and gas but it all got better but now I have a pain in my left side that comes and goes, it gets worse if I walk too much, it's like toothache, not so much in my stomach or where incisions are but more in my side where my ribs are? I must admit I didn't really stick with puréed stage and have gone onto soft foods quickly. If I eat too fast I suffer, usually have to make myself sick! At moment I'm struggling to eat 800 calories and trying hard to get protein in. I've lost 35 pounds so far. Hairs ok, but have got some great thickening shampoo that really seems to be helping and doc is going to put my vitamins on prescription. I get that taste too, doesn't make me throw up, just a horrible taste and end up sucking a sugar free mint. I will get the book and thanks for the tip on clothes. I will take your advice. My husband did buy my a lovely size 16 dress for my birthday as an incentive. Otherwise, I've picked up a couple of things in the sales but will hold off as you suggest. Thanks again, lovely to talk to you x

Not feeling so good today, I have a constant pain in my side that's getting me down, I see the consultant next week and will check on it. My weight stalled for over a week, but started again and I lost 3 more pounds this week. Seemingly stalls happen a lot, reading up on it, it seems that if your not eating enough protein and drinking enough water then it can happen. Some people suggest upping calories for a couple of days then reducing them right down and it shocks the body into moving again. I tried chicken tonight in small chunks but ate it too fast and it got stuck, God did I feel ill. ? Will try the m&s soups. Hope your feeling ok as well. Xx

How do I stop eating so fast?
Done it again today - ate too fast (not because I was hungry, I just forgot) and then had to make myself sick as it hot stuck and I felt so ill. I've ended up only getting 500 calories and 29 grams of protein in by eating two protein bars.

How do I stop eating so fast?
If I forget and eat too fast then it comes back up! I really wanted some bread yesterday, just a couple of bites- big mistake, I forgot that bread swells! Had to get rid of it!

This might sound horrible but you can chew just don't swallow ?. Yes finished injections last Friday. I did them myself in my tummy. What vitamins are you on? You know that you can get them in prescription? I'm on soft foods and have discovered naked noodle - like pot noodles but nice. Lots of good flavours such as curry, Thai curry and lemongrass. I/2 pot does me at the moment, but it helps if your missing spicy foods. Good luck.

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
I don't feel the need to pee, before if I needed to go, I had to go straight away! Now I go to the loo because I feel with all the water I'm drinking, I must need to pee!

I'm eating a lot of fish, eggs, diced chicken and protein bars. I Have just gone into week 4. I think the dumping was because I ate something too fast and it came back up. And another time I ate an oaty choclate buiscuits. I ate it then ran to the toilet and lost it immediately. Still eating 6 smallish meals a day and looking forward to eating normally 3 times a day. Have you drank any alcohol? I had a very small glass of wine and was ok.

Grits? Lots of beans I've never heard off. Sweet gravies? It's not that I haven't heard of them. Americans seem more creative in mixing different things together! Hey ive been on a cruise and have seen/tried American cuisine, it's just different!! My plan was/is out of hospital within 12 hours, sipping water first day, then one week of clear fluids but to include, tea, coffee and by end of first week to have started protein drinks. 2nd week - protein shakes, broths and lots of fluids. Week 3 - puréed foods and week 4 - soft food with High protein diet, to eat every 2 hours starting with 2 ozs and trying to increase to 4 (struggling!). After about 6 weeks - reduce meals to 3-4 high protein meals, and keep within 800 to 1000 calories. Have discovered dumping ? (both ways) so even if I get hungry and fancy something tasty, my body soon tells me when it's had enough!! Eating lots of fish and now have an aversion to eggs! Long for a fillet steak (just an ounce) but scared! Will leave it for a few weeks.

Extreme tearing pain in abdomen post op
I'm still getting sharp pain in left side, it comes and goes, worse in morning or if I sit too long. It feels like I have a big gaping hole in the side of my stomach and I want to press my hand against to get some relief. Pain killers helping. But guess it's just one of thos things that will go with time. Otherwise I'm doing good. On soft foods now and have managed to increase fluids which I think was causing a stall. I've now managed to lose another 3 pounds. Down from 304 pre op to 271.

Anyone from Great Britain
Hi, i just wondered if anyone else on bariatricpal is from Great Britain? Thinks are slightly different for us brits, for one - I haven't found a British support group and some of the procedures are slightly different. In Britain we tend not to tell anyone if we have had any surgery (stiff upper lip) Plus you guys eat foods I've never heard of! ? Im not complaining, your support has been great, but sometimes I feel very alone.

Help, Please.
I was told that I could drink tea and coffee without sugar. It was all part of meeting mt fluid needs which was more important.

Is this what regret feels like or is just a phase?
Thanks for that light at the end of the tunnel x

Help, Please.
One thing that my psychologist told me to do was buy a beautiful dress 4 sizes smaller as an incentive, which I have done and it hangs on the front of my wardrobe for me to see each day. I intend to drop at least 6 dress sizes but to get to this dress will be such heaven.

Help, Please.
A very harsh response to someone asking for help, care and compassion is far more helpful. The forum is to encourage and support - not to show off! Keep going Elise, all of a sudden you will start to see results, you have plenty of time still, one day at a time. It's worth it in the end (I hope). I'm 4 weeks post and currently on a platuea and getting frustrated, but I know it will come right in the end. I took thistle milk to reduce fat in my liver and it really helped.

I had a hernia too but was home following day. Used a hot wheat bag to break up the wind which helped. Good luck on Uluru journey

Extreme tearing pain in abdomen post op
Me too and have been told the same. Hurts like hell, especially walking but hopefully will pass soon, was told to wear compression pants as it might help and rest a bit.

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Sleeved was on 8th August. All going well, but quite a lot of pain in left side past couple of days, nurse had told me it's normal and just the muscle and stitches mending and to wear big knickers and rest a bit!! I started soft foods today and found out what happens if you eat to quickly or too much. Wont be doing that again!! That hurt! Have lost 35 pounds since I started the journey.
