    Anyone from Great Britain

Grits? Lots of beans I've never heard off. Sweet gravies? It's not that I haven't heard of them. Americans seem more creative in mixing different things together! Hey ive been on a cruise and have seen/tried American cuisine, it's just different!! My plan was/is out of hospital within 12 hours, sipping water first day, then one week of clear fluids but to include, tea, coffee and by end of first week to have started protein drinks. 2nd week - protein shakes, broths and lots of fluids. Week 3 - puréed foods and week 4 - soft food with High protein diet, to eat every 2 hours starting with 2 ozs and trying to increase to 4 (struggling!). After about 6 weeks - reduce meals to 3-4 high protein meals, and keep within 800 to 1000 calories. Have discovered dumping 😂 (both ways) so even if I get hungry and fancy something tasty, my body soon tells me when it's had enough!! Eating lots of fish and now have an aversion to eggs! Long for a fillet steak (just an ounce) but scared! Will leave it for a few weeks.
  2. I'm still getting sharp pain in left side, it comes and goes, worse in morning or if I sit too long. It feels like I have a big gaping hole in the side of my stomach and I want to press my hand against to get some relief. Pain killers helping. But guess it's just one of thos things that will go with time. Otherwise I'm doing good. On soft foods now and have managed to increase fluids which I think was causing a stall. I've now managed to lose another 3 pounds. Down from 304 pre op to 271.
  3. Hi, i just wondered if anyone else on bariatricpal is from Great Britain?  Thinks are slightly different for us brits, for one - I haven't found a British support group and some of the procedures are slightly different.  In Britain we tend not to tell anyone if we have had any surgery (stiff upper lip) Plus you guys eat foods I've never heard of! 😂

Im not complaining, your support has been great, but sometimes I feel very alone.

Hello, I'm from the UK and have just come across this forum. My operation was 7 August and today I started week 4 of the post op diet :)

I hear you. I am not from GB, but my Grandmother is and she is somewhat taken aback that everyone knows I've had surgery. Be you, break the mold, be the the light in the dark for someone else hiding in the "stiff upper lip" closet...lol. Kidding, really,,,how people communicate their surgery decision is completely personal. I wish I knew more about British foods so that I could maybe help. Just out of curiousity...what kind of foods are we eating that you've never heard of?

    Help, Please.

I was told that I could drink tea and coffee without sugar. It was all part of meeting mt fluid needs which was more important.
  5. Thanks for that light at the end of the tunnel x

    Help, Please.

One thing that my psychologist told me to do was buy a beautiful dress 4 sizes smaller as an incentive, which I have done and it hangs on the front of my wardrobe for me to see each day. I intend to drop at least 6 dress sizes but to get to this dress will be such heaven.

    Help, Please.

A very harsh response to someone asking for help, care and compassion is far more helpful. The forum is to encourage and support - not to show off! Keep going Elise, all of a sudden you will start to see results, you have plenty of time still, one day at a time. It's worth it in the end (I hope). I'm 4 weeks post and currently on a platuea and getting frustrated, but I know it will come right in the end. I took thistle milk to reduce fat in my liver and it really helped.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I had a hernia too but was home following day. Used a hot wheat bag to break up the wind which helped. Good luck on Uluru journey
  12. Me too and have been told the same. Hurts like hell, especially walking but hopefully will pass soon, was told to wear compression pants as it might help and rest a bit.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Sleeved was on 8th August. All going well, but quite a lot of pain in left side past couple of days, nurse had told me it's normal and just the muscle and stitches mending and to wear big knickers and rest a bit!! I started soft foods today and found out what happens if you eat to quickly or too much. Wont be doing that again!! That hurt! Have lost 35 pounds since I started the journey.
  14. Hi, I was sleeved on 8th August and totally understand what you are going through. I so wanted to chew anything and shamefully I did, but didn't swallow!! Protein drinks after a time get so boring but it will pass. I have been on puréed foods for a week and have been told I can start soft foods next week. Keep it in your getting there, and in 3 months it will be so worth it

    5 days out Incision hurting

About 4 days after op it hit me, couldn't walk! But by day 7 it was getting better. Now day 11, I'm up and about and practically pain free just the odd stabbing pain now and again
  16. Hi, I had sleeve 5 days ago and felt that I was doing great, but once the hospital drugs wore off and I went home the pain in my left side has got so bad that I dread walking. How long should I expect it to last?
  17. Spoke to my nurse who said it is normal and all is ok and it's the wound in my stomach plus the stitches that are giving me the pain. I was hoping it would start to ease up by now. Not really having a problem with gas that I can't control. Thanks.
