  1. Hello,
My surgery is scheduled for 11/27; I am currently on the 2 week pre-op diet. I am 5'3" and weigh 254; during this whole process, I found out "mild fatty infiltration". I meet with the surgeon earlier this week and he informed me that if they find my liver is too fatty and in the way, then they may not be able to do the bypass and may have to go the sleeve route. I really want the bypass not the sleeve so Just wondering if anyone ran into this issue and if they had to have a sleeve rather than a bypass.
    Thanks for reading.

Hi! I had fatty liver and I follow up the pre op diet and even with the fatty liver I had the bypass. My surgery was fast less than an hour and the doctor told me that when you follow all the instructions is not a problem but if not there are cases that can not be done laparoscopically but open!
    Good luck!

  2. Yes I did but I had several problems eating Protein in the first 2 months. I could not eat any then I supplement with Liquid Protein but even with that I had problems to drink eat and keep it in my stomach.I had several exams and went to the emergency room twice and even been hospitalized once. Now I am eating 40 grams of protein that I know is low for other people but it is a lot of effort for me! I will continue trying to eat more protein and maybe the stall will finish!

  3. I had mine around the same time and I have had two stalls lasting a week or more. Most people suggest increasing Protein and lowering carbs. Protein first. I just stuck to my program and trusted the process. I had further surgeries and that caused small stops due to Fluid Constipation etc the last surgery was last week. Just starting to move again. I've lost about 100lbs since Aug which I'm happy with. I wasn't quite so happy about constipation and kidney stones lol

    Thanks for answering!
I am following the program but I was constipated too and went to the ER and gain some weight without eating anything!,, I think it was something that they put on my IV that has a lot of Proteins and Vitamins ( they call it the bariatric fluid) . I will be more patient!!!
    Thanks

  4. I had my surgery on August 14,2017 and my weight was 235.

At my second month check up I was 200. I just begin with solid foods 2 weeks ago.My weight at my 3rd month check was 195... (no more weight lost!!!!

I am not complaining about how much I loose because my hw was 250 and now I am 195 but I need help to go out of the stall.I am eating only 30 gr of Protein a day and around 36 to 40 ounces of Water .

    Thanks

  5. I have the same problem! I tried to drink a lot of Water but I can only drink about 40 punces a day and I my surgery was 8/14/2017. This week I decided to have a bottle of water or crystal light near me all the time to see if I can do it better...and I can!! My intake go to almost 60 ounces! But I was drinking little sips all day! I stop only 45 minutes before meals to be able to eat!!!

  6. I had the same issue! My family doctor recommend the bypass , my surgeon too but my gastroenterologist said that the surgery was not for me!!! And if I really was going to get it was better to go for the sleeve!

i had to see by myself what where the positives outcomes and the negatives!!!

I have diabetes , need to lose weight, Barrett and cholesterol... I decided to go for the bypass. Why? Because I can stop having pills for all and if my barrett begins to show cancer ...I still have my stomach to repare my esophagus!!!!

Now 2 months later I have no cholesterol, no diabetic pills and no more acid reflux and I loose 50 pounds!!!

And if you really want to lose weight this is not the easy way!!! You have to learn to eat healthy with the sleeve or the bypass!!!

If you learn and Follow the rules you will be ok.

    Good luck!!!

  7. I’m about 3 weeks post op. Every time I eat I puking it up with 5-10 mins. No matter what it is, how slow I eat, or how little bites I take I always throw it up! Seen my doc a couple times, got sent to hospital for fluids. Other then that they want to wait and see what happens. I’m suppose to be on soft foods but can’t even keep down the puréed. I’ve tried but it’s the same result. Doc mentioned a few things they might to but again they want to wait and see if it’s just swollen in there or is something is closing or whatever. I’ve tried everything they have suggested but no luck.
Please someone tell me this isn’t my new normal! Spending more time in the bathroom then with my kids. Has anyone had this? Did your doc do something to help?

    Hi! How are you doing?

  8. I have that! I am 2 months out of surgery and I am still drinking and having baby food!
Sometimes even purée foods make me sick.I was on the ER once on my 3rd week because I can't or drink enough. I follow all the instructions and now I am drinking 32 ounces of liquid and 4 to 6 ounces of food daily. I am feeling better and the doctor said that some people are slow than others! But if you continue vomiting you need to check with your doctor because they need to do some exams to see if there is a problem

  9. I am 6 days post op . I feel like the area around my incisions are huge. It’s like I have 2 guys and upper gut which is like firm and bloated, and a lower gut that’s just chub from before. It’s unflattering and discouraging. in general I just feel bloated. I think I may be constipated as I hear that is common. But I’m not really sure because 1. I’ve never been constipated before and 2. I haven’t eaten anything solid so I don’t know what I would be moving out. I drank some stool softener in attempts to rid this feeling. Any other tips? And when should I be able to see this bloat go down. Am I expecting too much too soon? I go back to work Monday and I’d like to be past this bloat stage.

Hi! To feel better you have to walk! The more you walk you will be less bloated!!!

Having surgery on November 6th and I've bought Premier Protein for my pre op diet but was wondering if their are any better tasting ones?

Hi! Premier was the best flavor and more Protein and I love it before surgery but after surgery i did not be able to have it and I tried all the brands availables in Houston....one month after surgery I am having premier again.

That is exactly how she has been feeling. Last night we where in the emergency room and they didn't find anything wrong. I just called the surgeons office and left him a message so that first thing in the morning we get to speak to him about the issue once again. Unfortunately his office is over 4 hours away so it's not like just a drive to his office around the corner but, she does have an appointment with him Monday so maybe we'll need to make it for sooner. I just needed to know that maybe some people have actually gone through it like she has, that way it'll give me some assurance that is somewhat normal.

I went to the same hospital i had the surgery and they said eas dehidratation and malnourished...with the iv i recover perfectly!

i hope she feels better soon!

  13. Hi! Yes, it is totally normal! That happened to me too! Even when was not only for the weight!!!

i was diabetic, overwight and with Barrett !!! The worst thing it was i can not have pills for the diabetes because I had reactions...I did not have other way but I was thinking do I need to do it???

It is a difficult but you will feel better after a while... it is not an easy way!!! You have to learn to eat again!!! But you will lose your weight!!!

Now I have my sugar levels normal and I lost 37 pounds since my surgery!!! I just have 2 months !!!

Lots of luck in your surgery!!!

  14. Yes, I had the same problems ...I can not eat and drink very little.
I did not want to eat because the nausea. At the end of the 3rd week I wake up very dizzy and weak...pain and I went to the ER .They give some "bariatric packs"(vitamins , Protein and minerals).I was there for the whole day and when I return home all was different.I begin to eat and drink better....
The nausea comes and go but now I can eat more and drink what I need!
All of us are different and when I felt super bad was because I was not eating and drinking enough. Take her to her doctor!

  15. Hello everyone. I need your help. I already had my surgery about 3 months ago and are feeling great at this point but, I have my wife who had hers about 3 1/2 weeks ago and she's still having a hard time. She's experiencing bad nausea, stomach discomfort and some vomiting. She's hardly eating anything because of how she's feeling. She has contacted her surgeon and he prescribed some nausea medication but, even with that she is feeling the same. She has an appointment set to see him next Monday. What I need help with is knowing if feeling this way is normal? I myself didn't go through that but, has anyone experienced this?
