  5. Yeah, you're so right! When I was 148 I was so small. I also have to keep in mind that there's a weight that maintaining, like 135, may be way too insane. I wear a 6/8 at 145/150 and I would be SOOOOO happy there! Heck at this point, I'll take a size 16!! You look so good!! I am so impressed!!!!! 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Hospital bag

I got my period too, and you're so lucky you brought your own pads bc the hospital ones may be left over from the 60s!! I was glad to have loose pants and underwear bc of that! Prior to that though I was commando with the gown. I also brought my facial cleansing wipes which was nice to have. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Pasta and Rice substitutes

I buy those too. They are so good! I make them with marinara sauce and my husband and kids don't know the difference. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Hospital bag

I brought underwear, loose fitting comfy pants, a tank top and my bathroom bag. I didn't wear a bra home bc my incisions seemed high and I didn't want the pressure of the wire. I also brought flip flops-easy to slip on. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Bariatric Advantage

I liked the cream of tomato soup and the chicken noodle. The shakes aren't fantastic so I added some 100% coco powder-no sugar- to the chocolate and a bit of organic maple syrup-non processed-otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it down. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Pasta and Rice substitutes

If you go on Pinterest and search spaghetti squash recipes, there are SO many! It's pretty high fiber so I when I heal and make it, I'll go super slow. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Pasta and Rice substitutes

My girlfriend who is a pasta-holic says that the only thing that actually works for her, "fools" her pasta love is spaghetti squash. There's about 7grams of carbs in a cup. Be careful with the lentil stuff. I once purchased lentil crackers and just a few gave me such painful gas, I couldn't leave the house!! [emoji15] I imagine that kind of gas with our pouches could be horrible! 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Nausea after surgery?

Do you have zofran? If you don't, call your surgeon and tell them you want some!! It'll save you! I take it in bed before I get out in the morning and it seriously is a game changer. I think you can take 3 a day. They just melt in your mouth. You'll be less nauseated once you've gotten all the pain meds out of your system as well. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? Nausea after surgery?

I have always been very sensitive to nausea from anesthesia. Knowing this, I spoke with both my bariatric surgeon and anesthesiologist and they were both wonderful. The anesthesiologist should call you before your surgery and when mine called and I spoke with him, I told him all about my history. Knowing all that he took all possible measures to make sure I would be ok. The first day, however, as I expected, was still pretty bad for me. I told my nurse immediately and was given meds through the IV which helped. I was also given a transdermal scope before surgery and wore it for 3 days. I also left the hospital with a zofran prescription. That stuff is a life saver!! It's easy to become nauseated from anesthesia and the addition of the narcotics for pain, especially since we have nothing in our stomachs to absorb anything. Personally, Vicodin makes me sick as well so I took percaset instead since I did well with it after my c-section. Vicodin has a tendency to make people nauseated. Make sure to ask your surgeon to write you an rx for zofran and have it at home when you get back. It dissolves in your mouth and seriously is a game changer and this coming from someone who is hyper sensitive to nausea! Hope that helps! 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? 9 days postop...

Omg I'm so sick of protein shakes too. I need to get them down tho. It's 3pm where I am and haven't had one yet and I have to. Ugh. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Last Day of Purées!!

I start purées Monday and have all the stuff in my fridge for the ricotta bake. I'm counting down the seconds bc protein shakes are starting to make me depressed. I'm 2 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks puréed and then two weeks soft. Even if I can only handle a bite of puréed, I'll take it! I have some homemade bone broth and am thinking I'll just head to Whole Foods and grab a couple things in their premade case and purée with the bone broth. Maybe purée some of their soups. They have all the ingredients listed so I'll splurge and get a few of their things. Dreaming of not just living on protein shakes and protein waters! 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? 20. Last night I took my kids to a birthday party. The spread she had was insane-make your own sandwiches and tons of amazing salads and fruit, dips and veggies and then she has 10 pizzas delivered and the good kind too, no cardboard delivery, the uber delicious kind. I'll be two weeks on Monday, haven't even graduated to purees yet and the only reason I didn't take a bite of something is because I physically can't because of healing. I left the party. I couldn't take it. Am I hungry? Possibly bc I'm living on liquids. I went home, had my fat free Greek yogurt with monk fruit sweetener and was absolutely full, couldn't even finish the yogurt. I am freaking out bc what happens when I am all healed and can take a bite? Will I be satisfied if I have a piece of cheese and a couple veggies at a party like this? Omg-it was so bad last night and I am terrified I am going to fail. Any words of wisdom? I think I'm going to pursue hypnotherapy. 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7

    Stressed about approval

Hang in there! If you've done everything they require, and I'm sure your md has made sure bc they won't submit until all papers and such are in order, you'll be fine. The insurance coordinator at my bariatric surgeon's office told me it could take up to a month. It's so tough waiting-I called the insurance coordinator too many times. I know she rolled her eyes every time my number popped up. We didn't schedule mine until I was approved. Worst case, you push your date out a week but I know how hard that'll be. Hang in there!! 5'7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: ? GW: 150 Fantasy GW: 135 Sleeved 8/7
  22. Hey everyone! I am one week and one day post op and still on full liquids. I went from being totally constipated which I know is normal anyway post surgery, especially abdominal, to now the total opposite. [emoji20] My liquids are the same, I haven't introduced anything new: same soups/broth/protein drinks. I'm struggling to get all my water in and now this. Ugh! Is this just my body adjusting?? Anyone else have anything similar? Thanks guys!

    5 days out Incision hurting

Having the exact same issue! I was sleeved on the 7th and my largest incision hurts, especially when I'm trying to fall asleep and just can't find a position that's comfortable. I spoke with the bariatric nurse at the hospital on the phone the other day and she said it's totally normal and Tylenol should help. I'm still on liquids so she said to take the liquid one. And you're so right, the head game is the worst!! I'm so terrified of failure too. We can do this! We have to!!

    Can sugar substitutes be avoided?

I've been having such bathroom issues post surgery and I think it's from all of the artificial sweeteners in these protein water/zero calorie/zero carb drinks. When I was on my diet roller coaster I always hated how weight watchers pushed diet sodas and sugar free stuff. I purchased some granulated monk fruit sweetener for post op to add to my plain Greek yogurt and I seem to tolerate it well. Someone in my bariatric support group told me that she totally tollerates maple syrup and honey-never had a dumping episode with either. I cannot wait to be healed enough to get rid of the artificial stuff in these protein waters. For now I need the liquid and protein so I'm going to hang on for a little longer, but like you, I've avoided them for so long and definitely feel they're sending me into bathroom fits.

    TIPS FOR HOLIDAY

I'm two weeks behind you but thought a lot about this too. I went to a party last weekend and no one noticed or said anything about me not eating and just drinking my shakes. That was a relief! I was prepared to say "I'm having some food intolerance issues so I'm doing an elimination diet with the help of my doctor." In terms of restaurant eating, cup of soup/chili, side of cottage cheese? Can you eat those? Eat slowly and chew. Listen to your body and don't drink any liquids. And if anyone says anything you can tell them the truth or always claim you're just recovered from a stomach bug. No one can argue with that! Best of luck! We can do this!! [emoji173]️
