    Just Banded 01/19/2005

Hello everyone! I was banded on Jan 19 06 too. I am doing okay but someone mentioned gas and bloating pain. I am having lots of that. Still on liquids only. What is up with that. No pain meds today at all. Feelin fine!!!!
  2. I was told to do liquids the day before. I was spose to be able to see throughit before I should drink it. Like apple juice, jello and broth. For two weeks before I was on 2 protien drinks per day, and 4 oz of meat and 1/2 cup veggies. I guess that was to shrink my liver. I am sure you should follow what your doctor says to do. Everyone is different. Just a thought though, if you consume less for a few days pre-surgry, I would think you would feel better after anesthesia.
  3. Hey, you folks are all such an encouagment. I was banded two days ago. I am very hungry and can hardly wailt till tomarrow. I go to creamy soups etc. I have been on the clear stuff for what seems forever. Actually only 4 days total. Pre-surgery diet before that. I am having a fair amount of pain yet but hate to take the pain meds. They make me feel sleepy. My husband went to get me some liquid tylenol for pain. Will try that next. Took a shower today. That felt good. One step at a time. One step at a time. I have a positive attitude and will do this. With your help, my band and family and help from above!!!

    Where are the happy bandsters?

Hi everyone! I am two days out from getting my band. Surgery went well and I am sore but dealing with it. Staying close to pain meds. I am very hungry. I try to sip all day long but doesn't seem to help. Will this get better? It is very uncomfortable. I wonder if it is hunger or pain? I am on clear liquids today yet and tomarrow I start on full liquids.

    Starting Up

Well, I am home and all went well they said. I have been running a slight temp and they say that is normal. I have some pain but mostly when I move up and down from chairs and bed. Staying close to my pain med bottle. I seem to have a fair amount of gas in my tummy. Is that normal? can't imagine why. I have only had broth jello and ISO drinks. I do feel hungry most of the time. Hope that goes away. I am sure a few days will make all the difference. I told my husband I am pissed at myself for letting my weight get so out of control I had to resort to such extremes but I guess it doesn't do any good to complain over that now. Obesity is such a hard thing to suffer from. Thanks to everyone for supporting me. I know this is going to be where I go for support more and more. Darlene

    Starting Up

I am staying at a motel. He asked me to stay in Bismarck so I said I would. I kind of would hove liked to come home to my own bed but I am also wanting to be close in case. I plan to take pillow and a blanket for the trip. Sweats were the fashion statement I plan on for that day. I am fairly big busted too so I will cross that bridge when the time comes. I am sure if I wear a jacket no body will notice. Thanks for the encouagement!! DArlene

Thank you for the reply. I am not sure where he will do the fills. I think tthey said it was up to me. I need all the support I can get so I may drive down for a support meeting or two. Still in the stages where you are not sure of how things will work out. I would love to meet other banders though. I have two days left of the pre-diet and one day no food only clear liquids on Weds. I bought a case of broth so it will be nice and handy. Just wondering what to take along for food. I spose only iso drinks. I also was thinking some pillows for the trip home? Darlene

    Getting Closer!

We are kind of walkin in the same shoes. My date is set for Jan 19. I too am nervous but kind of excited. I am nervous because I will need to find a huge support network. I have hesitated to tell many folks because I don't want all my customers and friends watching me and watching every move. I am gonna follow directions to the letter and don't need any watch dogs. BUUUUUT, I have decided I need the support and maybe even folks who are watching to help me through this time. So tomarrow I will tell people around me. I am counting on this site to help me along the jouney. I have really learned a lot reading these posts. I too have everything I think I will need. If I don't have it my husband will get it for me. I live a ways away from the hospital, 112 miles in fact so they have asked me to spend the night at a motel. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to take with me? Dr. Schmidt in Bismarck ND is my surgeon. He is great too. Three days and counting. Thinking about this seems to totally consume me!!!

    home from the hosiptal

Wow! I am looking forward to being able to say I have made good progress toward my goal...Getting my band with Dr. Schmidt in Bismarck next Thursday the 19th. Nervous and wondering how I will control the "grazing" I do with food on a daily basis. This pre-surgery program has pointed out the out-of-control eating I do. I am glad to hear others are successful, I will be to. I WILL do this. I WILL, I WILL, I WILL!!!

    Complusive Overeater!

Oh man!!!! I am getting my band on Jan 19th. I am so worried the same old life style will haunt me too. I have some important re-learning to do. I am on the protien drinks 2 times a day and 4 0z protein and 1/2 vegies. I am struggling with the hunger big time. Drinking water and some tea to help me past the rough times. I have been distracting myself as much as possible. Soooooo glad I saw this post and can be prepared for the days ahead. Like someone said earlier. If you need help get it. We (I) am worth it. I think after carrying all this weight so long my self-esteem is in the crapper. Can't wait to have some success and positive results.
  12. I am on the schedule for Jan 19. Had a date for Nov 10 but my Mom passed away on that day. I started the pre-op diet today and am feeling deprived but am dealing with it. I noticed on some of the post that loss is not what I hope for in some people. I can see it takes more self control than I had thought it would. Glad to know that in advance. My doc told me it is a tool not a magic bullet. Looks like he is right. I will rely on many of you to help me get on track and stay focused. I know the clinic I go to has great follow up too. Gonna have a new attitude!!!!:nervous

    I have a new date!

I hear ya when you talk about having to re-schedule. I was on the schedule on Nov 10 and then my Mom passed away that day after a huge stroke two days before. Now I am on for Jan 19. I have great faith in my doc but am concerned about some of the posts I have read on the boards here. Like some floks with almost no weight lost in a YEAR!!! :eek I have hopes set higher than that. I want to lose at least 100 lbs and I will die of old age at that rate. I started the pre-op diet today. Last time I lost 13 lbs but found all of them again. I think they were lurking in the fridge waiting to find me again. Best of luck in Feb whereever you decide to go.
