I had that in combination with a horizonal thigh lift last September. It was about $15k here in Chicago. I know I could have done it cheaper elsewhere, but I liked the surgeon and am happy with the results. Be prepared though - it's not fun!!!

May I ask who your plastic surgeon is, from another Chicago-area WLS patient? :)

Looking good @kristin30! How did you get on at your follow up @yes_anastasia? I've only lost 1lb this week so I'm at 159. At least it's still going down I guess! 🤣 That's 103lbs in 6.5 months so I'm not complaining! Xx

Thanks for checking up on me, @MsTipps - you are doing so well! I was officially down 81.4 lbs at the Dr! Very pleased with my progress, and warned me that weight loss will drop from 2-4lbs a week average to 1-2lbs a week average. Ugh! I really want to lose 10 this month so I can get under 200! Fingers crossed that I lose 9.5 more lbs! The only thing I'm still not doing great with is exercise. I just need to make that happen

  3. Hi again, friends!

Tomorrow will be the six month anniversary for my surgery! I have my 6 month follow up and I'm REALLY hoping I'm down 80lbs on their scale from the day of surgery. If not, it'll be wicked close. I can't believe how quickly 6 months has gone, and how much my body has changed. I am now a lower weight than I've been since probably Junior High. Sometimes I don't even recognize myself in the mirror!

I hope everyone else is doing well! :)

  4. Ughhh.... scale hasn't budged in over a week. Trying to be patient and trust the process, but I am SOOOO close to "new territory" weight-wise as an adult. It's like my body is playing some head game! I've not been under 220 since Junior High! C'monnnnn body, lets goooo!

Being real though, I know I haven't been drinking enough Water every day so I could be doing a better job on my end. I think my nutrition is mostly on point, I consistently meet my Protein goals... so I'm hoping consistently upping my fluids to at least the 64oz mark every day will help me break through and continue losing. I only lost 10lbs last month, so I'd love to see at least another 10 this month before my 6 month follow up on August 1.

How are all my other January surgery buddies doing?

  5. I've been MIA for a bit but I am LOVING reading everyone's updates and progress!!! :)

I'm 6.5 lbs away from the lowest weight I've ever been as an adult. I think being under 220 is going to make me cry... probably not as much as seeing 199 will, but I'm so excited for these milestones I never imagined possible!

  6. Hi all!

Pretty sure I'm experiencing a stall at the moment, which is discouraging so early on but it's not going to change what I'm doing! I'm only down less than 5lbs so far for the month of April which kinda stinks not even 3 months post op. I'm hoping one of these days I'll step on the scale and see a big drop. I was banking on 15-20lbs per month for the first 3 but that just isn't in the cards. Sitting at 36lbs down at just over 11 weeks.... Just gotta keep truckin'. <_<

  7. I've found my weight loss to be a bit slow, especially for as high as my surgery weight was (291.5) on 1/31/18, but I believe it is due to the fact that I lost 57 lbs during the 3 month supervised diet + 3 week pre-op diet. Today I was 270.6lbs.

I'm honestly just telling myself I've lost more weight than I would have without surgery - that's 1-2lbs a week tops. My average is about 3lbs a week, maybe a little more, and I'm really happy about that. Would love to see the scale drop quicker though!

  8. I'm so glad to have this group to relate to!! Today I'm 5 weeks out. I saw my nutritionist yesterday and asked about my (what I perceived as) slower weight loss. She said what they expect is 2-4lbs per week, so I'm right on track at 3lbs and change per week average. I was also told to try to up my calories to at least 600. I'm cleared to advance to a general diet as tolerated. I had 1oz of strawberries with my dinner last night and it was delicious! I was really hoping to be 20+ lbs down by now, but I did lose 50+ lbs in the 4 months prior to surgery.

    HW: 348.6

    SW: 291.5

    CW: 272.8

Hope you are all having a tremendous week!! :)

  9. Just had my EDG done earlier today. I was sedated but still conscious. I gagged the whole time. They had to basically hold me down. It was kinda terrible... but I'm thankful it's over! One step closer to surgery! They said I had a 3cm hernia, which is crazy. I had no idea. So, they'll fix that during surgery too.
I feel nauseous though. Is that normal? [emoji20]

I had a similar experience pre-op. I totally gagged and felt my stomach contracting, it was completely brutal. They found Barrett’s Esophagus during the EGD and now I need another one in a year and plan to go to a Dr that will put me under. I can’t go through that again.

  10. Hi friends!!

I'm 3 weeks post-op today and trying to feel good about my weight loss. I'm down 13.5 lbs and feel like I'm at the slower end of things. I was really hoping to hit 20lbs my first month but I'm not seeing that happen. I am very thankful I've lost this much, believe me, I know I wouldn't have lost this much without surgery. My concern comes from knowing these are my "golden months" where I'll have the most success. I need to lose anywhere from another 100-120lbs.

    How are you all doing?
