  1. Tomorrow is the big day for me. Just got my hospital arrival time...5:15 AM. Glad to be the first of the day so that I don't have too long to be anxious.

I report to ambulatory surgery at 7:15 tomorrow morning. I am so ready for this 15 month saga to be over and for the next stage to begin. It has been a long haul but just several more hours and I can see where it goes from there.

  2. This has two consequences: the first one is that you lose weight quickly, the second is ketoacidosis. The latter is the process that makes you produce energy (and live) starting from fats. It is not the primary/natural way to produce energies and this process causes the Generation of ketones. These substances make you feel with a lot of energy and they suppress the hunger working in some brain centers. They may also damage some organs after a while, that is why this kind of regimen must be temporary.

Hi there. Just to clarify, you say this kind of diet means one experiences ketoacidosis. This is incorrect. One experiences Ketosis. Ketoacidosis is a very dangerous life threatening condition that can affect mainly type 1 diabetics. I understand that it is a simple word swap but a very different issue.

    Best of luck.

  3. My surgeon shared that he wants me to stay away from Premier Protein because it has too much Protein and won't shrink the liver...has anyone else heard this? I like premier and struggle finding others I like...any suggestions?

I have to ask... not to be a cynic but does your practice sell a particular brand of bariatrically advantageous powder and supplements? (See what I did there?) I have friends who have gone through this with other practices, where they discourage all the other stuff but the type they sell. My practice does sell BA stuff but they recommend premier by name as a great choice pre and post surgical.

  4. not 100% sure but I more than likely will have a September date as well! anyone of you all start your liquid diet yet? hows it going?

Haven't started mine yet but I am on my own modified prep diet. Protein Shake Breakfast then high Protein low carb low fat meals and not anything over about 1200 calories per day. I am not adjusting that for exercise so I am really getting a lot less than that. Taking my blood glucose like a nut.
I go to my pre-op meeting on the 28th. So that is the start of my actual liquid diet. Then the last two days is clear liquid.

  5. Hi there. Congrats to you! I am scheduled for Sept. 13. I will be one day ahead of you. Our support group leader advises everyone to keep the circle of trust very very small and then gradually expanding it or not as you see fit. I am of the other view. I will let people know what they want to know. Perhaps my situation will help someone make an important decision. I admit that I am naturally a "who gives a rats ass what anyone thinks" type of person. That is a luxury not everyone has.
Anyway, best of luck with your journey.
