Well here is what I am like. Pre-band, but scheduled. Doing the atkins diet until surgery. married and mother of two. And 29 years old. Also, I live on the east coast in Florida. Don't know how much someone wants to match up with me, but I would really love having a "bitch sister" (what we used to call friends when we were doing studies at my old school. Someone like you that you could "bitch" to about all your upsets and anger.) I am aslo kind of crude and cheeky with humor. LOL That might make a difference with someone. Amy

Ok, I am checking in again. I have slacked off terribly!! This last weekend was my birthday and I cheated terribly!! I gain 5 pounds and I am disgusted! So here I am, back in the swing of things, back on atkins. Reporting for duty and bound and determined to make this work! I have my tae bo videos and will be doing one hour of tae bo every day. I will drink my gallon of water everyday. I will stay at 20g of carbs each day. I will lose the weight before surgery!! I will do this. I will. And I will no longer make excuses. Amy

DH is down to 200, and his goal is 185. I tell ya what...that inch per 35 pounds is just about right. He has gone from 250 to 200 (quickly too. i hate him for that.) and he has grown some definitely! Plus, as I lose there is less cushion and, boy howdy, sex is like being with a completely different person!! I told him when he gets to goal he will have to shave his beard off, then I can pretend I am having a fling! LOL

After my kids I thought my sex drive being gone was a medical issue. That it was a low hormone level or something. But I was not allowed to take the pills because of a blood clot history. Since losing the weight I have lost so far (pre-band) my sex drive is insane!!! At least twice a day, unless hubby will come home for lunch. Sex is amazing now! And will only get better. Amy

Woke up this morning with the carb withdrawl headache. I am hoping this means I will go through the withdrawls sooner during induction than later. We'll see... Amy

How many of you did atkins before surgery? and how successful were you? I really want to be below 300 if possible before surgery so that my BMI is as close to 50 as possible, and my mother loves atkins and swears that will help. But I want to hear how it went after the band. Did you have trouble with taking in carbs and such? Was there an initial weight gain after the surgery? Thanks!! Amy

I have, and I am going to have them all removed. then when I am down to goal and surgery is all done I am going to get a butterfly my husband drew on my hip/back area. symbol of my change All of the tats I have I got when I was very young and stooooopid. And all of them are in areas that make it hard to wear summer clothes or sexy clothes without the tats showing. I don't even know what it is like to wear an evening gown without a really high neck and a skirt that goes all the way to the floor, and long sleeves. My wedding was awful trying to keep the neckline in place so that my tattoos didn't show LOL double sided tape doesn't work all that grand. Amy

Ok, trying again. This time I went to the store and bought a variety of Proteins, from lean to fatty. not just steak and bacon. so hopefully that will help keep me from feeling so greasy. i got lots of fish and poultry, and specialty meats rather than just a bulk pack of steak. I also did not buy so much cheese, as that can be a huge pitfall for me. i am a serious mouse!! LOL And I bought some special dressings for my salads to help them seem nicer and taste better. Hopefully all of this will help things taste better, and help me stick with it. i just have to get through that nasty carb withdrawl time, and i am good to go. As for the site, there are a few different sites with Atkins folks on them. there is a discussion forum on atkins.com under the guise of their "university", and there are many other high protein/low carb diet forums out there. Some are full of tough people to deal with, but you find that everywhere. I'll stick with this place here much nicer people. Amy

I would actually be on it for 3 months. I assume it would be quite a bit of weight i could lose during that time. I am going to create a meal plan for starting on monday, and my workout schedule and Water intake should work for the diet. If I can lose at least 30 pounds before April 28th I will be sooooo happy. If I lose more than that, it will be orgasmic! LOL Amy

yeah i am gonna give south beach a try maybe. ifelt so greasy afterall the fattening meats. i think this next time around i will stick to chicken and fish and leave the steaks to the weekend bbq. Amy

I agree that even counting crystal lite as Water is good because then you get some water in you, but I am wholeheartedly with the "water is water" camp as well. I asked my doctor about this, and he said that while it is good to drink thosethings to remain hydrated, to actually flush the system of toxins, and boost the metabolism i should be drinking pure, filtered water with nothing added. not even lemon juice. it was hard for me. i hated water. but i am up to a gallon a day. Here in florida the water is VERY hard and heavy chlorinated. I filter my water TWICE and keep it in a gallon jug in the fridge. everyday I force myself to empty that gallon. I have found that using that as a basis for measuring makes it so I barely can get in anyother drinks. I have also found that my skin is clear, my energy level is up, and my joints feel looser. i didn't feel or look that way when i was doing a gallon of crystal lite a day. Amy

WhippleDaddy, thank you for sharing your loss with us. Mr. Whipple gained his strength from your love. He was a handsome pup. We are a border family as well. Our first was lost in a house fire after helping me to get out. He actually went in to get the cat herded out, then went back in. We found him and our new puppy together. We can only think of the protection and strength he brought to that pup. It took us years to get over that and bring a new friend to our family, but even the cat (who was saved in the fire by Clyde) seems happy we have added Cosmo to our household. Hold onto those pictures. And dream of him often. You were a fine daddy, and was very lucky to have a fine teacher. They really do have a stength and wisdom that can, at times, be astounding. Amy

I know I will try it again. After my birthday. And after more planning. I had a very hard time with it, and was having a very bad day the other day when I posted that. LOL I hate how much food controls me!! It is awful! To make me so upset that I am crying over not being able to have BREAD! Are you kidding me??? I am determined to get passed this, and I know that the lap band is for me, after this little episode. Amy
