I came out of my little band closet

I feel the same way as most...Take it on a case by case basis. What you did has me in tears, because it is the same way I found out about the band. It has just taken me a long time to get over the hump But the only people who know I have an appt are my mom and my husband. Both for moral and physical support. I would much rather have it just be my husband and no one else. My inlaws know I have thought about it because I asked my brother in law for information (he is a doctor). Blabbermouth LOL But I won't tell them until after I have had it done, or maybe let them figure it out for themselves. Amy

That is fascinating!! I have never heard of a calf lift. I am so happy that you found a procedure to make your life work!! My thighs definitely will need work after. Not looking forward to that. Amy

    The Great Skin Debate

If only they would come out and say a milk bath is good for the skin as well. Then my DH would allow me to waste that much milk. LOL Amy

    The Great Skin Debate

What is the definition of require? I know there are several factors that go into it all. How the weight is held, muscle tone, skin type, quickness of weight loss, Vitamins taken during weight loss, condition of skin, age of said skin wearer, etc. I think because there are so many factors that it is really an individual thing. I know there are some things you can do to help minimize the need, or minimize the amount needed after extreme weight loss. Take your vitamins!!! And make sure your Protein intake is good. A good body scrub will keep your skin healthy and regenerating, and a moisturizure with no alcohol in it (a VERY common ingredient) for all over the body. And LOTS and LOTS of water!! Water is essential for good skin health. These things are good for you no matter what, but they will at least help to make the surgey less than originally needed, should you need some. HTH!! Amy

    Tried to warn this person

I'm done with this thread. My standpoint is pretty easily summed up in a few points. Don't email people. State your opinions and facts on the board. Emailing is rude and invasive. Making a blanket statement about a country is pretty hinky, but it is your right to do so. So don't have a surgery in Mexico. But if someone thinks differently there should be no problem on your side. When you want to state "facts" about erosion rates in mexico, other countries, and american doctors, make sure they are hard facts. Blanket statements suchs as yours about mexico having more erosions due to surgical technique are silly. Thanks all for the discussion. Heated topics can be fun! Amy

    relief for skinfold rashes!

Oh I have used baby diaper rash ointment for heat rashes between my thighs from walking around for a long time. I am assuming this is similar to that? Balmex was always a staple for me when working as a bartender. Great for apron rashes as well. I will have to get some of the burts bees stuff and try it out. I just found a place that sells it. Amy

Okay people, let's make a cookbook!!

Fabulous Protein smoothie 1.5 c Skim Milk 2 Bananas (previously peeled then frozen) 1 c Strawberries 2 scoops Six Star chocolate whey Protein Powder Be sure to peel and freeze the bananas ahead of time. This gives the smoothie a thick and frozen consistancy. Put the milk and protein powder into the blender. Slowly add the bananas until completely blended. Then add the Strawberries. For a thicker, more frozen smoothie you can use frozen strawberries. This makes two large smoothies. For a crunchy Fiber add 1/2 cup of wheat germ. For extra Vitamins add vegetable powder, or crushed Vitamin pills. You can also add Benefiber powder, or any other supplemental needed. I do not freeze the strawberries, as my teeth are sensitive to the cold, by DH likes his that way, and it is a frothy frozen treat that he just loves!
  13. I have sensitive teeth so I can't make up smoothies or shakes that often. I got the chocolate Protein drink from wal mart. 20g protein in each 4oz serving. Only 110 calories. I am a bartender so I use my mixer shaker. It mixes it up so well, plus is filters out the big lumbs if there are any left over. Amy

LOL The hospitals obviously use Water that is not full of parasites. It might be another country with different plumbing systems, but they aren't in the dark ages. The medical community there understand the concept of being sterile. Amy

    Exercising??

At least 3 times a week. The amount of time is crucial too. 3 times a week at 45 minutes is actually better than 5 times a week at 20 minutes. Amy

    Great site for cheap clothes!

Holy cripes! those are some good prices. My DH is going to hate you! LOL Amy

    Exercising??

uh that is my most difficult issue. I could get so much more of a workout done if I did it in the morning. No kids interupting me, no excuse of being too tired from the day to make me skip it, yet i can not get my fat butt out of bed before 7:30. Even that time kills me, but if I don't get up the kids trash their room. Amy

The one piece of clothing every plus size girl needs?

On the outside, I would def go with the well fitting, slimming jeans. Essential for all those quick change occasions. Under that, the right bra!!! Without it the girls just look funky, get squooshed, are too pointy, etc. Ya gotta have a good over shoulder boulder holder. Amy

Question for all you Moms & Dads out there....

I wish the sling had worked for my kids. They were little heaters and would over heat in those things. I would feel so bad putting them in and having them just drench themselves in sweat! It runs in the family. DH becomes a heater when he sleeps too. Amy

    Water! Water! Water!

i used to be so bad about Water, but after a UTI I kept increasing my water intake. I am up to about a gallon a day. My skin is clearer and it glows, my breath smells better (funny huh?) and my pee seems crystal clear LOL I drink a lot of hot tea in the morning (teavana is my friend) with nothing it in, but the rest of the day it is only water. Great site I found

food you are looking for (everything you can think of) in the search bar on the upper right hand side and hit search. You can also change the display according to serving size. And it also shows where the food falls on the pyramid and the breakdown in fats, carbs and protiens. Really great for figuring out what your home made meals "cost" in calories. Just figure out how much each ingredient is, and approx how many servings you have total. We just figured out a chili dinner from my husbands homemade chili is 390 cals. That is with brown sugar and ground beef. We could really cut that down substituting beef for turkey, and brown sugar for rum. Amy

Question for all you Moms & Dads out there....

oh my...every baby shower i go to i bring the same gifts. And I tell the mom they are going to use them like crazy. But they just smile and nod. Then the baby comes, and they are praising my name!! BLANKETS!!! The thin ones that you drape over your shoulder, lay on the floor, roll up to prob up toys or mirrors or for around the head in the baby carrier, for wiping up spit-up, for wetting and washing off dirty faces...you can never get ahold of enough blankets. You can get them in 3 packs. They are thin and sometimes called swaddling blankets. get 3 3-packs and explain that they will thank you for them after the baby comes. Amy
