    Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to this site but I love it, and you, for bringing out so many great topics. I've scoured the internet for information for months, read the Big Book on Gastric Sleeve, and I feel ready for this. But then again, how can I know if I'm really ready. I suppose you can only prepare mentally and physically so much and then turn yourself over to the universe. I started my pre-op diet today, which is 3 Protein Shakes and meat/veggies for dinner. I'm really glad it's only one week. You all that have done 2-3 weeks of pre-op are real troopers. I'm trying my best to practice all the new skills: timing my meals, not drinking for 30 minutes after, getting all my fluids. It's a lot to work on.

Any suggestions on how to make this week easier? I'm trying to get in the right head space over the next few days so I don't freak out next Monday, the night before surgery!

    Thanks!

    ~S

You get to eat food on the liquid diet? Mine is nothing buy liquids & the only calories I will get will be from the Protein Drink which only 150 a drink. If, I could eat meat & veggies, I'd be over the moon! You are the lucky one! Tip= chew your food a long time before swallowing it, this will help with the time needed for meals. ............. Hope that helps.

Thanks Deeme! Hopefully your surgery will no longer be delayed. I'm getting super excited but this liquid diet is very challenging. The headaches that come with it. I'm managing to hang in there. Good luck to you!

It's looking like 9.25.17 might be a go! Trying to stay positive! Yeah.... the Liquid Diet is no fun at all. Kicking coffee is worse for me..... I've drank it since I was born....well, a long time! lol Try to take it easy, try deep breathing & meditate, read a book or just try something new. Did you start a journal of this new chapter in your life? ................... This too will pass, as they say! ................... Praying for you! ☺

  3. Hi........ I bought EAS Soy powder, my Dr. said "Soy" is better on you & has the Protein you need. I was told by my dietician to use Flavoring like orange, pecan, etc.... the ones you use to make cakes? But, I would buy vanilla so you can use them. Probably not so good with chocolate. And, if you get the 1 % milk really cold, you will get used to it just fine. You just need to make up in your mind, this is a step to the new you, like I did. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone! I am new to this blog as of 3 min ago. I want to start off by saying, prayers for all who will be getting sleeved in the near future. I know you will do well. As for me, my sleeve was scheduled for today but got postponed until Sept 6th because the Dr. is on vacation. I'm actually having my lap band removed and converting into the sleeve. My lap band experience was horrible and the acid reflux I developed from the band was not worth it. So I decided to convert to the sleeve hoping to get better results. I never lost much weight with the band. I've started my liquid diet 3 days early with yesterday being my first weighing in at 223 lbs. Yesterday was a struggle. Today was better so far. Is there anyone else on their 2 week pre op liquid diet? Would love to hear your experience thus far and any pointers from being bored with the same foods.

Hi Marina............... I've just recently joined this forum too! My Sleeve has been postponed 3 times due to my Cellulitis.....hoping for surgery on 9.25.17 this time around. I had started the Liquid Diet, was into the 2nd day & I was in bad shape, this last time..... I was so light headed, dizzy & sickish.....just hated it! Since then, my dietician told me getting over that second day is when your body starts to actually burn the stored fat in your body.....good news, huh? But, getting past it is the next thing. There must be some foods you can actually eat when on this Liquid Diet or so it seems to me. Wondering if anyone else can give us some ideas.

Good Luck!!!! I will pray for you, hon! ......................... Deeme in WI

  5. Can anyone tell me why there isn't a "REPLY" tab for each comment in this whole forum? Submitting a reply is very odd. Is anyone updating this website to make it more user friendly? I hope so.

Also, using this light back ground & light colored text is not fun either, especially for people like me who have a hard seeing. Anyone?

  6. I had a skin infection on just the left side of my stomach called Cellulitis. I spent almost a week in the hospital, in June, on 4 antibiotic drips & have been on others every since that time. This comes & goes....and.... can happen to anyone at anytime with a bug bite, itching, etc. They really don't have a definite answer, except that...... antibiotics don't work good like they did 20 yrs. ago....... which is a scary thing, when you think about it. It looks good now, let's hope it stays that way. I remain on the antibiotics until the day of my surgery.

  7. Hi everyone! ....... My Sleeve surgery was postponed for the 3rd time. Looking ahead to a 9.25.17 date now.

I had previously started the liquid diet for the first 2 days & thought I was going to pass out or die! I was in bad shape & won't lie..... I was relieved that my surgery was delayed another month. Little did I know then, what I know now............. getting past that second day is Key........ that is when your body starts burning off stored fat! Now, I look forward to the next time I do this diet before surgery. They don't tell you everything......... I've read & learned so much since joining this forum. Thanks everyone! :)
