  1. My RNY was 11.13.17..... I've been coughing, gagging & vomiting this White Foam that everyone is talking about here. I didn't sleep at all last night & gagged all the way (20 miles) to our Dentist this AM for our cleanings, which I didn't think would be possible! Thank goodness my hygienist let me control the suction machine.......wish I had one of these at home!!!! Again....all the way home, I was gagging & continuing all this. I don't know how much more I can handle.

Thanks to everyone who posted what helped them..... I will be surely trying each/all of them!

Happy New Year to all!!!!! ................. Deeme in WI

My Bypass was on 11.13.17 & I've been coughing so much....I gag & up comes this White foamy spit like. I haven't slept at all this past night & have done nothing else all day except gagging up this stuff. It's really wearing me down!!! My surgeon just says, the body is still getting used to all the changes & this too will pass. WHEN? Is my question. Anyone else doing this?

    Looking for help................... Please!!!!!

Hi......... I know how you feel! ..... I'm on day 2 also! My dietician told me it was ok to had "flavorings" & it does help, some. She also said, if we can make it through day 2, it will get easier! (Wondering if she had to do this....lol) .... that is when our body starts to burn stored fat. Well....that part sounded good! .....<smile> .......... Hope this helps! Sept. 25th is my surgery.

I haven't felt like I'm losing much. Doc says I will lose slower because my BMI was 42 at surgery. I'm 48 down right now....was 46 down in this photo. If you are starting this journey - take progress pictures!!! I have a whole new motivation, now!

Tomorrow is the big day. I'm having the SIPS DS in the morning! I'm excited but getting quite nervous!

Breathe! .......... Read a book, do some binge watching on TV, pack your bag, keep busy. Praying helps me! I don't get nervous until minutes before we go down the hall into the OR. Then.... I get a little nervous. I've had 28 surgeries so I not new to this.

I'm not sure I know what kind of surgery you are having. Mine started with the Sleeve, then, last week we changed it to the By~Pass on 9.25.17. I'm so excited! ***Sending all good/positive thoughts to you!

Is anyone else out there dealing with any pre-surgery depression? Any idea on overcoming it prior to D Day?

I'm excited! ..... It's been since last Oct. since I began this journey! I thank God for my upcoming By~Pass surgery on 9.25.17. Without it.... I will die. I'm insulin resistant, so the shots really aren't helping me much at all. I want to live & will do everything in my power to make this happen. Maybe it's not so easy for some to 'deal', but I look for the positive in things & it has helped me, more than I can say.

    Sending positive thoughts your way!

What were the first steps anyone took to start the process, both of getting approval from insurance company and how to get started with a bariatric surgeon ? Also how & who decides exactly what type of bariatric procedure you get? Also I have Maryland medical assistance, and my mco is priority partners , has anyone who has the same type of insurance as me, had any issues with getting approval to cover the costs of the surgery and any other things that are required bloodwork & tests , dietitian services , etc

As they say......... do your homework! Attend those free seminars! You can actually talk to surgeons, ask questions & learn a lot! That is what we did! I say "we" because my husband is my support team & always is with me for everything. Reviews about surgeons are important also.... just more help in your decision. Of course, there are many Labs to do & all kinds of specialists to see & be tested. The worst for me was the 2 day stress test.....that was no fun! I started this journey in Oct. 2016, so almost a year, however, Dr's have different requirements....mine just happens to cover every single base & leaves nothing to chance. We just last week changed mine from the Sleeve to the By~Pass, which will be on 9.25.17, not far off. Not looking forward to the liquid diet, but, we do what we have to, right?

If, you have any questions that I might be able to help you will, just ask! I think my email somewhere around here, too. Take care! ............... Thinking of you!......................

Just yesterday.....wow! How are you doing?

I start my liquid diet this coming Monday & my By~Pass is on the 25th, the following Monday. It was just changed from the Sleeve to the By~Pass. I'm so excited!!!!!! We are lucky that we live in this day & age when there is such surgeries to save our lifes.................. Thinking of you!

Im September 16th....I havent been in hospital for 22 years to the date and that was for the birth of my twin boys who were born 09/16/91.

This surgery will also be a life changing experience for me!!

Wow.... they do surgery on weekends? That surprises me! Won't be long now. Did you have to do the liquid diet for the prior week? My surgery was changed last week from the sleeve to the By~Pass. What will yours be?

Sending all good thoughts your way. Try to relax & remember, do what they tell you to do!

I am seriously thinking about switching from sleeve (which is scheduled for Sept. 18th) to a bypass. Any reasons why I should or should not?

I KNOW it is an individual decision, I would just like some experienced feedback.

    -Thanks-

Because I've had 28 previous surgeries & have a lot of adhesions, my surgeon thought the Sleeve would be a better choice for me. Hope that helps.

That is why I wrote in the original post ---"Of course it is 100% recommended to follow your Dr.'s instructions."-----. This was just a reference guide, as every Dr. has their own instructions to follow. Just some info to give newbies or someone interested in having this procedure a idea what they will have to do, ,,,,, and for life to be successful. It is not meant to be followed to a T.

    -Thanks-

I replied to an Email message.....never seen your first post. Guess, I won't be doing that ever again.

  12. I ran across that too.... but, my Dr. wants his patients to follow "his" directions. I questioned my dietician about some things in that website & she said to follow their instructions. So, I would say...... follow your Dr's orders & talk to the professionals you are using to verify & answer all your questions/concerns. ..... Better to be safe, than sorry. ......... Hope that helps.

    Hi everyone!

My first post ever. I went to an informational session a month or so ago (required to start) and I have my very first appointment with a doctor to discuss everything on September 8th.

I was told by my insurance that they no longer require the six month plan, they just require the written previous diet attempts and the numerous tests. I have Independence BCBS PPO. Does anyone else have that insurance?

I am desperately hoping I can go through the program so I can get surgery as soon as possible! Did everyone have to go through a pre-op diet months before surgery?

    Thanks!

Are you talking about the liquid diet?

  14. Eating "food" will not shrink your Liver, which is the whole reason for the liquid diet, my surgeon & dietician tell me. Just liquids pre-surgery makes the operation much easier for them to see in there & do the surgery. I'd be very leery about eating food prior to surgery for a whole week, at least. I hope, you are sure about this. I would be curious to know what they say about it. Hope this helps!
