  1. I had a significant hiatal hernia repaired with my VSG, and there was minimal pain. BUT, at 10 days, I developed fairly severe pain at one of my incision sites that lasted for about a week. Go figure!
  2. The one thing that tipped the scale for me and led me to me surgery was the number of people in medical fields that have bariatric surgery.
  3. I feel like I'm following @Creekimp13 around the message board and agreeing with everything she says, LOL. This is what I am doing. I'm at 8,000 steps a day now. I need to add an actual walk to meet this goal. All three of my current paths are 1.3 miles. Two of them are fairly flat and the third is very hilly -- I do the hilly walk every few days. Map My Walk is a great ap if you have a smart phone with GPS. And, get a Fitbit -- I ordered the new Versa and its coming today!
  4. What she said! Stalls are frustrating and a little scary. You are definitely not alone.
  5. Why? Are you below BMI 40 with no comorbities?
  6. When I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, I kind of freaked out thinking about how serious the condition is. I've lost ~30#s so far, and the amount of pressure I need has dropped almost in half. Sorry about the seizures --my 26 yo son had one last week after several years without one.
  7. Population 3! I'm an engineer, so no detail is too small For my sig line, the 14th of every month (surgery day) is the start of a new month.
  8. Its hard to believe it has been 8 weeks already -- you are doing great with weight loss and walking, too!
  9. Looking back, I see that my stall started on the 7th (Week #3.5), and this morning I weighed the exact same amount (on the 17th -- 10 days later). I've checked in with the measuring tape, and I'm not getting measurable losses there, either. Stalls are demoralizing!!!! The one thing we have to remember is that they are common and they end, eventually. Here's hoping ALL of our stalls end soon!!
  10. Its called the week three stall -- or the three week stall. I've seen it both ways! Its normal/common. It generally happens between weeks 2 and 4. I'm on day #10 myself.
  11. Its hard! I had surgery 5 weeks ago. I eat 4 times a day: 6am-10am-2pm-6pm. Today's menu (61g protein, 18g carbs, 585 calories): Meal 1: 1 lg egg, 1 slice bacon , 1 wedge LC asiago, 1 oz. half-n-half: 12g protein Meal 2: 2 oz turkey, 1/2 oz alpine lace swiss, 2 oz steamed carrots: 19g protein Meal 3: 3 oz. 2% cottage cheese, 2 oz frozen cherries: 12g protein Meal 4: 2.5 oz. flank steak, 2 oz asparagus: 18g protein
  12. ...what does your diet look like? How many calories and carbs are you eating in a typical day?
  13. I am 5'5" and my goal weight is 144 lbs.
  14. I lost 18#s in the first month, but now I am also in a stall. Its been 8 days and I am up 0.2 lbs from the start, bouncing around the 198's. I started Phase 4 of my diet yesterday, with no more protein shakes (unless I need a few grams of protein to meet my daily target).
  15. I'm intrigued by this. Can you tell me more about how they did the metabolic analysis? Was it Dexa scan?
  16. In my mangled post above, I didn't mean to denigrate 160 as a goal - I meant to say that 260 isn't a good goal. I will be satisfied if I end up at 160-180, but I am hoping for and shooting for 140-150. My PCP encouraged me to aim for the high end of normal. 8 days, +0.2# << stalls are the pits
  17. I'm sorry to be a dissenter here, but I think 260 pounds could NOT be possible be comfortable at 5'4". I'm 5'5", and 228 lbs was NOT comfortable. My PCP would be happy with 180, so that might be reasonable, but I'm sure I -- and you -- could do better.
  18. Yup. My instructions are 4 meals a day with 2.5 ounces lean protein, plus fruit/veges. I'm not sure, but I think at 3 months we drop to 3 meals a day.
  19. 30#s is great!! I had my surgery a couple weeks after you and I have only lost 18#s since surgery. Hang in there, I hope the hunger goes away for you. :-)
  20. I'm off the smoothies altogether -- onward to 4 meals with real food. Its tough to get the protein goal in when I'm limited to 10 ounces of lean protein a day, but I can squeeze it in. I had reg coffee with half and half this morning, so no judging from me, that's for sure. Pretty cool that you lost weight -- lots of reports out there on the benefit of switching thing up now and then!
  21. I third, plus most have SPF to protect your skin, too.
  22. I wonder if it might be time to eat more real food, less protein shakes and pudding?
  23. I think Dr. G uses a Size 32 bougie -- its in the online FAQs. I have an appt next week and I'll double check this. Are you hitting the water goals? Are you not drinking 30/30? Are you eating fruits & veges? I've heard reflux can mimic hunger, so is that a possibility? Just spit balling. I am sorry you are frequently hungry, that stinks.
