  1. Hi - I had my surgery mid August so I guess I'm a relative newbie and I'm sure that more experienced people will be able to give sound advice. All I can say is that I too read loads of horror stories but I can honestly say I have had very few problems since my surgery. Sure, the first few weeks of pureed food were tough and I did suffer from Constipation for a while. Other than that I have been pain free from the day of the operation. Now, 11 weeks after I feel pretty much normal. I haven't lost tons of weight but I have lost inches and feel so much better. I can walk for hours without knee and hip pain and can play with my grand kids without pain. I go out for dinner with family and friends and enjoy the experience just as much as before. In fact its great because I don't worry too much about what I order - just the amount. I also drink wine with meals without problem and one glass of wine is enough. I fact now I'm a pretty cheap date! :D. I haven't had any noticeable Hair loss, I'm not pre-occupied with Protein and the only real difference is that I am satisfied with much less food. Other than that life is back to normal with the benefit that I can already fit into smaller size clothes. There have been weeks when I haven't lost weight (probably because of the cheats!) which is disappointing but I know this is a long game and I can't live my life by the rules. I know that the fat will go, maybe it will take longer than other more disciplined people. I have never regretted the decision to go for WLS, just wish I had done it years earlier.

I hope that my experience helps you decide what to do. Good luck, whatever you decide.xx

    Hey everyone!

I'm exactly two months post op and down 56lbs

I haven't had any trouble with eating or drinking and have been slowly going at my own pace, but I can essentially eat anything with no side effects

Anyway, considering my bounce back, I feel like I can easily manage a couple drinks and I'm absolutely dying to go out and relax. I thought it would take 6 months, but I honestly can't see how 4 months from now anything would be different. I'm healed and cleared for all foods, so if I feel ready isn't that enough of a reason to try?

So, when did everyone have their first drink after their op?

    No negative comments please (:

Hi - my surgery was mid August and I have had alcohol ( mainly white wine) on a few occasions without any side effects. I was told that 1 drink post op would be equivalent to 4 pre-op but I can't say I have noticed any difference. I'm certainly not squiffy after one glass! I would say "a little of what you fancy etc, but then that's probably why I needed wls in the first place! ;)

It's funny thta you wrote this. My surgery was on August 1st, and I've lost 30 pounds. I know tha sounds like a lot, but it was all in the first 2 weeks. I haven't lost anything since. I'm following the diet, but not losing. I saw my doctor on Monday. He said it happens and not to be concerned. Just keep doing what I'm doing and maybe up the exercise to give my weight loss a boost. I want that scale to move! I feel like I took this major step in having this surgery and now I need results. I'm so afraid to fail at this like every other diet I've tried.

The same thing has happened to me. I had surgery on 11th August and lost 25lbs in the first 4 weeks and nothing at all since. It is so depressing! Everyone (including me) was expecting the weight to fall off steadily but no. I am eating on average 800 calories a day but the b***** scales haven't moved for two weeks! I know a lot of people report this stall but can anyone tell me what the real physical reason is for this? I really don't understand what is going on with my (still fat) body!

  4. Hiya - I'm on chewy centrium vits and ad-cal (although I'm not taking the adcal at the mo cause they made me constipated. Thanks for the tip about the noodles - I will try them. I quite like the M&S Soups too - expensive but they last for ages! Only have 2 more injections to go which I'm so happy about as my tummy is covered in bruises. Weight loss has slowed right down which is a bit of a bummer with all this effort! Hope it picks up again or else I'm going to get REALLY peed off. Hope you're feeling well xx

I'm eating a lot of fish, eggs, diced chicken and Protein Bars. I Have just gone into week 4.

I think the dumping was because I ate something too fast and it came back up. And another time I ate an oaty choclate buiscuits. I ate it then ran to the toilet and lost it immediately. Still eating 6 smallish meals a day and looking forward to eating normally 3 times a day. Have you drank any alcohol? I had a very small glass of wine and was ok.

I had my surgery in Kent on 11th August. Just finishing week 3 and really fancying a curry! Getting desperate to chew something :) and drink a glass of wine! Did you have to have daily injections?

Help! I slipped and had a couple of bites of food twice. I'm 10 days into my pre-op diet. Should I be worried? I've lost 10 lbs so far and still have 4 full days to go.

I don't think you need to worry. I had my surgery a week ago and i'm feeling really good. Here in the UK my pre- op diet was restricted (800 cals) but not liquids only. Probably not as difficult as a liquid diet but still ok for surgery.

  7. Hi August friends. I'm having my op on Friday (11th) and I'm full of nerves and serious second thoughts! Will I ever be able to eat 'normally' again? Will I ever be able to enjoy a curry (my fav)? How awful will my saggy skin be?

Is anyone else having second thoughts through blind panic? Can any old timers help to ease my mind? HELP!!!!!
