  1. Hey everyone i’m super excited to share that today I stepped on the scale this morning and the number I saw surprised me! I finally hit a normal BMI. And I’m super close to my goal weight (I even surpassed my doctors goal weight which was 72 kg)

I know BMI is just a number but It‘s been over 25 since i was maybe 14 years old. it’s amazing and I’m super happy.

I’m 6 months post op gastric by-pass surgery. My highest and starting weight was 120 kg, my surgery weight was 110 kg, and as of today I’m 71,6 kg.

  2. Don't get discouraged, if you do some research on this forum you'll find thousand of posts regarding this topic. You are not alone, we all go through stalls, some people lose weight faster than others but that doesn't mean the ones losing slower are wrong.

Make sure you are drinking enough Water and reaching your Protein goals. If you are doing things right you will continue to lose weight.

  3. Hey everyone! I'm almost 6 months post-op Gastric By-Pass, very close to my goal weight (7 kg/15 pounds) and I'm already thinking about plastic surgery. My arms and legs are pretty ok, my butt, breasts and tummy not so much.

I am 26 years old, single, no children but I do plan to have some in the future. My concern is: should I get these surgeries done right after I turn one year post op? Should I wait more? THinking that I want to have children in the future, should I wait after that happens, specially the Tummy Tuck surgery. Has anyone gone through this? I need opinions before I start thinking about a consultation with a plastic surgeon.

  4. I've yet to reach my goal and I'm not very far, but I still have like 12 kg to go and people are already telling me I should stop losing weight. I think everyone's shocked about my quick weight loss but years ago when I started to gain and I was at this exact weight people (family specially) used to tell me I should lose a few kg bc I was fat. So why is it different now?

I'm decided I want to get to my goal or at least as close as I can. My brain hasn't adjusted to my new body yet and when I go out to buy clothes I always have to downsize the stuff I pick because I see smaller sizes too small for me. So maybe they are right and I'm not seeing it?

What do you do when people tell you that you should stop losing?

  5. For those whose period stopped as a consequence of being obese. I had high prolactin levels before surgery (i have to wait 3 more months to get that checked again)
How long after surgery did it take to get back to normal? Im almost three months post op and i haven’t gotten my period since long before surgery, my gynecologist wasn’t worried back then and still isn’t, my endocrinologist says it could take up to 6 months for the body to normalize, and then one of the doctors of the team where i got surgery thinks i should have gotten it already.
I’m confused and a bit scared i’m only 26 and i plan on having children in the future.

  6. Does anyone want to start a small group? I have a lot of questions and I want to get to new people that are going to go through it, That have been through it and folks that are thinking about getting the gastric bypass done even.... I want us to be able to support each other through thick and “thin” lol.. does anyone want to grow skinnier with me???

Sounds like a great idea! How would that work?

  7. My doctor told me I was welcome to flat Diet Coke - no bubbles! I shake and release a plastic bottle until completely flat and then enjoy a glass every few days. Some people think that’s disgusting but I missed Diet Coke!

My three months is next week. I am a much slower loser. *sigh* But it is coming off steadily so no complaints.

Hmm [emoji848] i’ll try that someday.

You are losing and thats what’s important so relax, do what you have to do but enjoy the journey.
I decided pre-op that I wasn’t going to become a scale-crazy person, i used to wait for my appointments to get my weight but now that they are one month apart I weigh myself once a week only to keep track of my progress.

  8. Wow u look amazing... my 3 month surgeversery was yesterday as well. Congratz! I had sleeve surgery however. I lost 38 pounds 45 with preop... what are your stats?

My highest weight was 120 kg right now i’m 86,4 kg. I’m pretty tall 1,70 m (im sorry I don’t know how to do the conversion to pounds and ft)
My bmi when i started the process was over 40.

  9. Its incredible how fast time passes, yesterday was my 3 months surgiversary and I couldn’t be happier.

The results im seeing amaze me, every day i’m more and more in love with my surgery, i became a new person, i’m happier, been going out a lot more, i can walk all I want and don’t get tired, i’m still working on some things like my laziness (the couch calls my name and i can’t resist it) luckily i lost my love for fries and chicken nuggets but i do miss diet coke

So far i lost almost 34 kg which I couldn’t have done without surgery.

Surgery was magical for me and the only thing I regret about this is that I didn’t do it sooner.

I’ll leave you some pics of my highest weight compared to what I look today and some stats.

  10. So far I've gotten a lot of comments and I really don't mind them. People are really happy to see my progress friends, family, co-workers and even patients at the clinic I work, when they ask how I did it I tell them the truth, I had Gastric By-Pass. Some of my co-workers even came to me asking about the surgery because they are thinking of starting the process themselves, and I love to help them.

I've never been able to lose weight easily, trust me I know I won't be one of those people that gets magically skinny in 6months, I just want to be healthy for my family. This isn't the magic fix it's just a tool in my opinion.still excited

I wasn't either, in fact I was insulin resistant and couldn't take the meds which made it even harder to lose weight. I never lost more than 5kg dieting and I regained them every time and added a few more kg.

Each body is different, it's not important how fast we lose the weight as long as we lose it. So whether you are a fast or a slow loser be happy you are losing at all.

Right now I'm not losing as fast as I did the first few weeks but I keep seeing the scale go down and for me that's a win.

  12. Hi! I'm 26 years old and almost 3 months post op. I can only talk to you from my experience with this surgery so far and I hope that helps. I got the gastric by-pass on Aug. 14th 2017, and since that day my life has improved in so many ways. You can see my stats on my profile but I started with 120 kg and I'm already down to 89, i feel lighter, i can walk all i want and i don't get tired, i am more socially active than i was a few months ago, i have more energy. I never had any regrets, except that I didn't get the surgery sooner. Before this I failed every diet I tried.

I'm not saying everything with this surgery is great, it's hard at first, you have to learn how to eat again, there'll be times when everyone's eating burgers and fries and you'll be having a tiny container of broth, but things get better and you get used to eating less than you did and less than everyone else. You will miss some foods (you'll probably be able to eat everything again down the road but it will take time). And some of the foods you love won't taste so great after surgery.

Just think about this will you be able to lose those 80 pounds by dieting and exercising? Will you be able to maintain that lifestyle? If you think so why haven't you done that already?

For me surgery was what I was expecting, hard, not fun at first but totally worth it.
