Hey there. I'm on the west side. My surgery was 6 mos ago and I'm down 25lbs. Not the best record [emoji19]. You?

    One month Post-Op...only 6lbs lost!

@amandaaok I lost exactly only 6lbs my first month too! I started out w a bmi of 38 and also started out weighing relatively less @ 212 on surgery day but if you ask me, you're doing well. I'm 7 weeks post op and I'm now loosing a little bit more weight overall. I still average about 2 lbs although I've miraculously lost almost 7lbs this week alone. I don't have any advice on what you need to do because honestly I don't track my macros religiously. I've just been listening to my body and trying to keep up w my surgeon's advice. Like you, I had no comorbidities and was a relatively healthy eater too. I'm not sure if there's a correlation there but I've been exactly where you are. I guess it might be a good idea to go over your numbers again w your doc and nut but not to worry, the weight should eventually come off. Best of luck.
  9. Woot woot!!! Check you out Ms. Hotness!!! Great job!!!
  10. I agree with Berry and Punkylynn. I only lost 6 lbs by the end of a month after my surgery. I probably like you didn't start off too heavy so we're gonna loose a lil slower than most. Your surgery is not a joke, you're actually doing rather well and will continue to do well if you do all that is required of you. I keep waiting to pull out that sz 8 jeans I have in the closet but I know it will not be till next year. Summer maybe. Keep up the good work. You're right on track.

    Surgery didn’t work?

I initially expected to lose a lot of weight too. I'm 5'2" and was 212 the day of surgery. 4 weeks later I had only lost 6lbs and now at six weeks post op I'm around 197 for a total of 15lbs lost. I average about 2lbs a week (a few fluctuations here and there) and my doctor says I'm doing great. I had moments of discouraging thoughts but I feel amazing and hopeful that the slow weight loss will equal better weight maintenance and no loose skin. Take heart ladies, it seems like you're well on track for weekly percentage of weight loss. I wish you all the very best.

    Head Hunger.....it's real!!!

It IS real!!! I'm currently laying in bed with full knowledge that I have no room for another bite but am still oddly 'hungry'. I've just told myself that the devil like my hunger is a liar and I will not pass anything through my lips that isn't water. To me it's beginning to feel like the period pre surgery when I gained the most weight because I very often gave in to head hunger. It's a battle and it's on!

    Bowel movement post surgery

I'm 5 weeks post op and still regularly face constipation. For the foreseeable future I'll continue my daily Miralax routine. I say daily because skipping it and trying to go is tantamount to me looking to pop a blood vessel which unfortunately has happened a few times. I used to pride myself on how regular and easy my BMs were, now I commiserate with those that celebrate a weekly poop lol. Oh, lots of water daily for easy passage [emoji12]
  14. It sounds like you have an awful lot to deal with. I'm so sorry and hope you're progressing better. I have no experience but well wishes. Heal up.

    Coffee after gastric sleeve

Before surgery coffee hardly appealed to me. I tried coffee less than 2 weeks post op and loooooooved it!!! I loved the way it smelled, its taste, the caffeine, the way it energizes me and mostly how it makes me not feel hunger at all. I still don't own a coffee pot or brewer but I'm beginning my research on what appliance to introduce in my kitchen. I don't have more than 1 cup when I do but I savor the mess out of that cup.
  18. I will look into it but honestly it has gotten easier. I'm clear to have soft foods now and I've found a protein shake flavor that works for me. I told my surgeon about my hunger fiasco and he got me on some vitamins which helps some. Also coffee is amazing at killing my hunger.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

Astute observation. My screen name was born from playing a Facebook 'What is your stripper name' game. I thought it was hilarious and just started using it for random things. I guess it could serve another purpose.

    Insomnia??!!

I can't sleep before 2am it seems. I'm about 3 weeks post op and I've probably only gotten 3 days of sleep since surgery without the aid of some kind of medication. I sleep long enough if I do eventually fall asleep but nope, can't fall asleep. Any advice? I wanna go back to being able to sleep by just thinking of sleep.

    I can cross my legs!

Congrats!! I'm looking forward to it too although even when I was much skinnier I couldn't ever comfortably cross my leg. I just assumed I have an unwilling pelvis.

    Surgery in 14 hrs!!!!

I was hungry. I was terribly hungry and more so because I couldn't eat until I realized all my body wanted was protein. Now I'm about 3 weeks out and I start my day with a few sips of my preferred protein shake and then a warm soup etc. I try to finish one protein shake a day and it helps with the hunger. I have developed odd cravings but the protein also helps. My hunger in general has abated somewhat but I'm almost never not hungry if that makes sense. I feel like my body keeps pushing me to find the right combination of foods to keep it happy. Now, I just began soft foods but don't have much affinity for the difficulty that comes with digestion so I stick more with liquidy foods. I suspect when I am able to eat a better rounded meal, I won't deal with the hunger and cravings as much. Everyone is different and I hope your journey is smoother.
  23. Stay strong. I'm currently 3 weeks post up but before surgery I kept myself from indulging and completely ruining my pre-op liquid diet by imagining food spewing out of my stomach during surgery and getting an infection from it and dying. You probably don't want to think such dreadful thoughts but it kept me in check. With that said, I did cheat on my pre-op diet. I only did 7 full days instead of 10 (I had put myself on a plant based and progressively liquid diet 2weeks prior) I had a real meal about 48hrs before my surgery. It was a rather small meal of quinoa , grilled chicken squares and bell peppers stir fry which I followed a few hrs later with magnesium citrate and a ton ( really like 2 gallons) of water. Fortunately for me, my surgeon after surgery told me that my liver was super small so I didn't need a 6th incision. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, yes, the pre-op diet is insanely difficult ( I couldn't watch tv because of food commercials) but you ARE ABLE to do it!!!! Good luck on your diet and surgery!
