I really think its awful that a doctor or nut would make anyone feel that way after all, you just took the biggest and main step into your journey and towards your future goal. Dont let anyone distract or discourage you. Your body will go at its own pace. Drinking lots of Water and getting your Protein in will aid to losing more lbs.

You have to eat a proper diet with protien to increase your muscle mass. If your definitely wanting to target fat loss...look into a the ketosis lifestyle where you switch your body from burning the normal sugar and carbs as fuel and start burning fat...even stubborn fat. It Works!!! Especially when you've hit a plateau.
This link might help you also speak with your Dr or Nut about it.

I am 62 and had a lower BMI of 35 w/ sleep apnea, arthritis, Gerd, post menopausal & asthma. I had my surgery on 7/10. Today is my 1 month anniversary!! I have lost 27 lbs so far. I am not suffering from my arthritis pain, my sleep apnea has improved, I haven't used my asthma meds since the surgery. I am gaining energy and have started walking again slowly but with No pain! My joints aren't killing me now. My inflammation in my body has gone down. This was not for cosmetic reasons this was because I wanted to live longer, be active and have a better quality of life! Do not let anyone judge you for your reasons to have this surgery just do it! My life has improved in the last month alone. I feel good!!!
Thank you for that input...i too am now at 35.1bmi FROM 39.6.bmi. Going from 201 to 176 pre op! Im 4'11 inches tall. And due to 3 spine surgeries, right shoulder Arthroscopic surgery. Gallbladder surgery and heel spur surgery a Spinal fusion and spinal implantation, I had gained the weight from steroids and other meds and not being able to do effective exercise...inwhich I'm limited to doing. And if I continue on that path will have to do hip replacements due to degenerative cartilage. My sleeve date is this coming Monday and I get happier each day it nears because I know that getting back down to my ideal weight will free me from the daily chronic pain I endure and I can finally start to live a healthy quality of life again. So my reason for this decision is for medical reasons not for cosmetic purposes and refuse to allow anyone to dictate or make me feel any way about my decision.....after all I have to live in this body, not them!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, you only see your surgeon prior to your procedure to finalize and sign paperwork and that's normally done once approved!!!! I'm getting sleeved on 8-21 next Monday. My paperwork was submitted to my insurance (Fidelis) on last Friday and approved on Tuesday and my appointment to see my surgeon is 8-17!

Hi all!!! Im due to be sleeved on 8-21-17. Im excited and a lil nervous but am anticipating the out come. I just wanted to share some information per the Keto Lifestyle. I practiced the Keto lifestyle and it worked very well. My challenge was getting into ketosis, (keto flu) and staying there to become fully fat adapted. By the time I got to that point I began having issues with heel spurs and from the pain and stress, was knocked out Ketosis. But it really works if your disciplined. I definitely am continuing the Ketogenic lifestyle along with (IF) again full blown after surgery when im fully healed since I will already have began 2 weeks pre-op. I think it's great for those who hit plateaus in losing. Below is a link I believe will give you more insight. Good luck with your journey!

Hi all!!! Im due to be sleeved on 8-21-17. Im excited and a lil nervous but am anticipating the out come. I just wanted to jump in on the IF...It was one of the the methods I used along with the Keto lifestyle and it worked very well. But then I developed heel spurs and had to have foot surgery and was in bandages and a cam boot for a while and was knocked out Ketosis. But it really works if your disciplined. I am considering the Ketogenic lifestyle along with IF again after surgery when im fully healed. I think it's great for those who hit a plateau in losing.

Thank you for sharing and I too have similar issues as far as the pain as same to well as trying different diet approaches. You absolutely have the right and same mind set as I, to believe this will work and succeed at it!!!! I've read in some posts that some sleevers lost only small amounts of weight even after some time had passed also some had regained their weight. Hopefully that won't be the case for me.

Hi all, my surgery date for the sleeve is August 21st. Excited and nervous at the same time but anticipating getting this weight off! Since my spinal fusion in 03 and my spinal implantation in 2016 I struggled with my weight going up and down from 187lbs to 201lbs standing at 4'11". My mobility is limited due to my back. So some exercises are off limits for me. Prayerfully this will help and I can come off the most of the meds I consume.

Im 3 days out too. Not too concerned about my weight at the moment but at the fact that I need to heal properly. The only thing I struggled with is the pain. Had to be re-admitted yesterday and was advised after cat scan all is well then released with a stronger med than Tylenol!!! Also trying to find a system to get all of the liquids and Vitamins in daily!
