  1. I'm wondering if the surgeon or insurance company provide a general out-of-pocket cost estimate prior to surgery. I know what percentage my insurance covers...but I'm curious how much I'll pay out of pocket.
  2. I don't have one right now. I just ordered the sample kit. Here is the link for the chicken flavor. https://www.unjury.com/chickensoup-protein-container.html
  3. Unjury makes a delicious chicken protein soup. Tastes just like chicken soup. I'm attaching the nutrition label.
  4. Of course talk to your doctor but what I've read is that hair loss may happen post surgery. Because your new tummy with be very tender you have to treat it like you would an infant. My doctors say post surgery will be 10 days of liquid, 10 days of pureed, 10 days of soft food then slowly adding in solids. Hope that helps.

    Just Starting This Journey

I'm not at the beginning but 2/3 of the way through my required 6 month required pre-op work. I have my first meeting with the surgeon in September (he is going on a 3.5 week vacation...must be nice). Anyway, I just wanted to say I've actually enjoyed the monthly visits with the weight loss specialists MD, the nutritionist, psychologist and believe it or not the exercise physiologist. I'm learning a lot from all of them...well maybe not so much the MD. With their help I've already lost 20 pounds! I live in Michigan and Beaumont has a fantastic program that guides you through the entire process and beyond. I hope you have good support like that throughout your process.
  6. I completely understand where you are coming from RSM. I too am very worried about this "new relationship" with food. I've been joking saying it's like getting divorced from an abusive spouse. You know he's bad for you but you keep going back for more...and one day he'll kill you. Okay that was dark but you get my meaning. I'm hoping to have my surgery in October so I've got a couple of months to go still. A couple of months to worry about not only the surgery itself but also this new relationship. How will I get through that first two weeks? How will I get through the following weeks without solid foods? For someone who's life has revolved around food...celebrated with food...how am I going to cope? So my point is I feel you RSM but if everything I'm reading is true I think it will be worth it!
