  1. Hi, got a question...It takes 3-4 years to get a consultation in Canada? Can you explain?
I had heard that Canada had a socialist medical system, but it seem ridiculous to have to wait that long to get medical help. Sorry you had to go to Mexico and pay out of pocket just so that you can start to get healthy, but glad you didn't wait.
I live in the US in Pennsylvania. It only took me a few weeks to get an initial appointment, 4 months to get through pre-op requirements, then 2 days to get approval from my insurance (but already knew they would approve before I even started all of this), then two weeks later had my surgery - now 1 week out from being sleeved. If I had to wait 3-4 more years just to get started, I don't know how much heavier I would be or even still alive. Good Luck with your weight lost journey and in starting a family.

Yeah I'm with you... wow. That's a long wait. My process from first consult to surgery was 6 months. I'm in LA, CA.

  2. I'm hungry all the time. I have been lucky to be able to eat solids since day 4, as per my program, but I still get hungry after like 2-4 hours, depending on what I eat. I could never go half a day without eating.
At 6 weeks I got cleared to eat everything, and first thing I tried was salty licorice (favorite). I have tried different things, some has failed (dairy based ice cream is a big no no), some, no problem.
My surgeon/NUT team state again and again that I'm no longer on a diet. I should focus on Protein, the rest is up to me. And in order to get my protein in, I'm not able to eat a ton of carbs and sugar, but I still have some. This past weekend I had sushi for the first time, a whole 5 small maki. I just made sure my protein for the rest of the day was good. I'll be 5 months out on Sunday.

Looking forward to sushi! I'm a bit ways away but I'm patient!

  3. Surgery 7/18 and in a long stall!

Dropped 10 lbs by days 5-6 and now nothing. I get my Protein and liquids in pretty good. Just got green light for mushies! Soooo happy for it.. doing my greatest to remain positive! Slow loss is better than no loss

Can't wait to exercise hard! This whole process started for me because of sports injuries and lack of proper nutrition on my part. I use to skate, roller derby then grub on chili fries and Coke... exercising stopped but not the eating. After two broken ankles, blown out knees and a boyfriend who cooks very very well I ballooned 60 pounds and could not get down. I have always struggled with weight and I've managed to maintain good health and remain active but knees are so bad these days. Remaining as optimistic as my Ortho . Super excited for this journey! Enjoying the ride

  4. Hey bambam, me too! (11days post op) I feel amazing, though today I'm a tired so I'm taking in easy. I sip, but I can sip pretty fast. Meaning I can drink my Pure Protein Shakes in no time flat, less than 5 mins. When I take my pills in the morning, I take a little more Water [emoji97] Goes down so easy. I do have some extra gas in my stomach when I drink my 9oz. of Bone Broth. Next Wednesday Aug. 3rd I have my first post-op with my surgeon. [emoji67]🏻‍⚕️I will be asking lots of questions. The following day (post-op day 15) I start soft foods and I am looking forward to that. I walk for about 3 miles every other day. I can wait to get into the pool [emoji474] at 30 days post-op.

Just had my post op, on to mushies! My weight loss has stalled though! I am not even sure how that's possible! But I am pleased and excited too! 2 more weeks for pool! Only change my Dr implemented was to stop BP meds, its super low and I'm soooo tired these days! We can!!

  5. Also my throat was really sore from the breathing tube but I was allowed ice chips the first day and it really helped! And fortunately my leak test was just Water with blue dye which went down easy, and they checked my drain after 30 mins then I was cleared for clear liquid diet. And the last thing was I didn't realize how hard it is to swallow crushed pills, they didn't taste good with anything. I ended up skipping a few doses of blood pressure meds and after I started full liquids, I just started swallowing them whole.

Same! Same! From throat irritation to the pain.. yes! We got stabbed 6 times.. this is what it feels like. I had a great nursing staff. They were at my bed side every 3:45 for med checks!
    Day 11 down 12lbs

  6. Hi Lillie Lou I'm not a doctor so I don't want to give false info but my doctor told me once I felt ready for the full liquids I could move on. My full liquid phase starts Tuesday. So I am slowly starting to incorporate some of the new things I can have such as non fat vanilla Greek yogurt and it was delicious. My husband and I will start making Soup purées with our ninja tomorrow and then Tuesday I start the full liquid portion. I'm also extremely excited for sugar free pudding!!!!!!!!

    Day 10
I had my first sugar free puffing today!
    Down 12lbs
    Surgery Date 7/18

  7. Tommorow will be one week out and I too can take large sips . I am not having any issues getting Water down ? All liquids go down very easy , I can drink a liter of water in 15 min . I starting to get a little worried.

As far as I hear... we're good. Swelling must be down. but i was advised to take it slow.. water is way more easier than Protein to get down especially ice cold water!

  8. I don't think so. I don't have to sip either. I can take pretty decent swallows. I just think its less swelling than others may have post op. Thankful for that because it has gotten easier everyday but I know my stomach is different but just adapting pretty well. You'll probably notice it more once you go to solids since liquid goes through so quickly.

Thank you! I sure do appreciate your response!

  9. Day 5 I'm drinking good... a little scary. I'm not sipping!!! My BT told me to sip sip, shorten time until I cannot tolerate and now I'm scared! I'm taking regular drinks!! I'm the complete opposite! Any ideas on my situation?! I'm so scared I stretched myself out! At first I said cool... then I said oh crap!

  10. Today I've been drinking not sipping?! Is this normal. The nurses told me to sip until I can't tolerate. Well. I have definitely met my quota today for liquids!! IS THIS NORMAL??! Did I already stretch my stomach out? At first I thought good I can drink and then I panicked. Any thoughts... appreciate all responses! Surgery was 7/18 down 10lbs
