Just now, ummyasmin said:Dunno about anyone else, but it isn't so much hate as bemusement and pity for the ordinary peeps - same sort of emotions as towards Kim Jong Un, Berlusconi, Ferdinand Marcos, Gaddafi, Nixon, Mugabe etc. Mind you, Oz has Scott Morrison currently at the helm, heaven help the Aussies.

I truly don't care what anyone's take on politics is when I'm on this site. Stifle the urge to delude yourself into thinking your opinion on the prez matters here. Let's try to be adults and stay on-topic.

I was sleeved in Mexico and, while my surgeon did provide consultation, information and support, some info was conflicting or incomplete. For that, Google is a wonderful thing. ObesityCoverage.com has a wealth of information. When I need perspective from others, I come here. Everyone's experience is sooooo different, no doctor's office can replace those personal stories.

"... you guys are taking it waaaaaay too personal ..." "you're taking it too serious ..."
that would be "personally" and "seriously."
Clean up your adverbs, then you can wag your finger at others for their grammar.

Actually you guys are taking my post all too serious. Never thought it would be so offending for you honestly.lol and my replies were harmless and I'm not making fun of anyone. I am an ESL teacher and this is a pet peeve of mine. I'm sure you all have some type of pet peeve. Jeez..

"Seriously," not "serious." [emoji4]

BunnyJean, try serving hummus and just licking it off a carrot or celery stick. In a gathering that size, no one will notice you're not eating the veggies.
As for not telling people, the only snag I've hit is in the short-term. I'm only 10 days post-op, and my husband and I get invited to stuff all the time. I'm trying to lay low until I can ingest something other than liquids because I don't want to answer questions; the hubby, on the other hand, thinks he's being tortured if he spends a weekend at home! It's going to be a long couple of months for him if he doesn't learn to enjoy a little down time.

6 minutes ago, kidchick said:I've told my husband and oldest son - no one else. I'm still struggling with if this is the right way to go - surgery is scheduled in October. My biggest concern is how do I share in holiday meals without being questioned as to my food choices based on where I am post-op and food amounts and if I am questioned what will my cover story be? I'm not worried about weight loss being noticed, just how slow I will be eating, what I will be eating and the amount I will eat....any thoughts
I'm in the same boat. My surgery is October 6, and I should be more or less eating normal foods by Thanksgiving. I'm just going to put a modest amount on my plate, swish it around for show and count on no one noticing. Of course, my family is huge, so it's a lot easier to do things no one notices in that situation.

I haven't tried the rice ones. These do smell like fish when you first take them out of the package, but if you rinse them really well, that'll take care of the smell.
In my opinion, they don't really taste like semolina Pasta, but they have a satisfyingly firm texture and you can use them everywhere you would use pasta. Just my opinion, but I think they work better with Asian sauces then they do with Italian sauces. Stir fry sauce, voice in or some other Asian stir fry sauce are really good on these. They're perfect for Soup too. I hope that helps!

That should say hoisin sauce, not voice in. Talk-to-text has a mind of its own!

I love them, and I'm a die-hard pastaholic. They have a somewhat neutral flavor so they taste best with flavorful sauces.

That's a great strategy. And, definitely, if someone who needs help asks about it, I'll tell them everything they need to know. I do think it's a positive step toward healing and long-term success to help others along the same journey.

I'm not telling any of my family about my surgery either. One of my sisters is going with me and is having her surgery the same day I am; other than that, no I'm not telling anybody. If they ask, I'm not going to lie to them but I don't feel I need to tell them.

Absolutely no offense intended, but I could not possibly care less about anyone's point of view on American politics (or any other nation's politics) when I visit this site. I will enthusiastically entertain all input on bariatric issues till the cows come home.
Anything of a divisive and completely off-topic nature, no thank you. We don't want or need the mud-slinging here.
