I finally had a fill! YEAH!
Went in last night and the dr gave me my first fill. Man what a weird feeling that was and holy crap that is a long needle! It really didn't hurt but just looking at that sucker freaked me out a little! She put 3cc's in the start and when I tried to drink Water it wouldn't go down so she went back down to 2 cc's. I am supposed to go back in a month or so for an adjustment if needed. She told me to be on fluids for 48 hours - which seems like a long time - but I am not even hungry although my last meal was yesterday at lunchtime! I may change my tune by the end of the day today, but so far so good! PS - She said I have lost -24, and I only had myself down as -20! I like her number better, but I am still going to go by my scale after I weigh in on Wednesday like I do every week.

Eating/drinking on day of fill?
I had my first fill last night and the dr didn't even ask me what I had to eat that day. I had a normal lunch and drinks during the day. She did tell me to be on liquids for 48 hours after the fill however.

First month of life with the band
I had what felt like some restriction for about 3 weeks maybe then I entered bandster hell and have been there for 3 weeks. I go to the dr today so I am hoping to either get a fill or set up an appt for a fill very soon!

Check in Febsters!
Hello! Well my appt is on Monday and I can't wait. I need my first fill so badly. I am really struggling some days with my eating. I mean I am really trying - but I just thought this was going to be differnt, kwim? I didn't expect to be starving all of the time. I know the first fill won't cure me, but at least it will put me on the track to the sweet spot, instead of the starving spot I am in. I have increased my food a little more to compensate, which I guess is ok, but not what I thought I would be doing. On the exercise front I have been doing well. I either do a 20-30 minute video every morning or walk on the treadmill for that time. I try to mix it up a little when I can. Other than being in bandster-hell - all is well here and I hope it is for all of you also!

Birth Control after Lap Band
I never stopped. I even took mine the day of surgery. My dr never mentioned stopping.

What are you eating in a day?
Can you post what you eat in a normal day? I am wondering how I compare to others at the same stage. I obviously am not good at eating healthy/balanced meals (or I wouldn't be fat!) so I am trying to figure out what I am supposed to be watching....is it more important to count calories? count carbs? Fat grams? what????? What is your normal daily intake of each of those (if you know it)? Any advice/input would be appreciated!

Holy moly!
So I posted the protein shake recipe that I have been drinking EVERY SINGLE DAY for 6 weeks in the recipe section....and someone told me it is almost 800 calories! Holy crap. I never even THOUGHT to check the calories, I was just making the shake that my dr had recomended. No WONDER I have been somewhat of a slow loser. Holy smokes....that was on top of me eating. Ouch. Today is my official 6 week post-op day....I think today is my last day drinking those!

Homemade protein shake
Well crap - I never even thought to check that. I am just at 6 weeks today and have had one every single day since surgery. No wonder I am a slow loser...I was just doing what the doctor suggested! Oye vey.....

Homemade protein shake
(This may have been posted before.) My surgeon gives out this recipe.... 32 oz skim milk 1 cup powdered milk 65g of Protein I mix a little Lite Hershey syrup in it and I don't mind it at all. Seems like a lot to drink but I spread it out thru the day. I have also put a little sf Kool-aid powder in it which isn't too bad as well.

What food/drink do you miss the most?
I am jonesing for Diet Pepsi right now. I really think that is the one thing I am missing the most. How about you?

I need help. Lets Low carb it togethor here. VV!
Hate to say it but I don't know HOW to live w/o carbs. Seriously I think carbs are why I am fat. I like sweets, but can survive w/o them....it is the carbs that get me every dang time.

Support groups?
Do any of you go to support groups? I went to one last week and it was a "newbie" class (2 - 12 weeks post-op only). It was basically just questions and answers. The down side was that out of 24 patients there, only 2 were bandsters - the rest were gastric. I felt a little bad at first because the gastric people had lost such GINORMOUS amounts of weight already. But the leader reminded me that you cannot compare the 2 surgeries, and I knew that - but it was hard. They are supposed to start up a bandster group in the near future. I hope they do because I could definately see a difference in the questions being asked. Just wondering if anyone else goes to support groups and what they think of them.

List your lapband confessions here.
I went to Pizza Hut with my family last night and was bad and feel like crap about it. I had a plate of salad from the bar.....and a piece of pizza.....AND the crust end of my sons. It was like old times and I actually felt a little full for the first time in 6 weeks. I feel horribly guilty about it and ended up with a stomach ache last night. Man, I need a fill.

Is there room for one more?
I go back to the surgeron on April 7th. I am dying for some help and am really hoping she will give me a fill or at least schedule one. I am so frustrated at how hungry I am ALL THE TIME. I did this surgery because I really thought I wouldn't feel this way all the time. Hell I could have saved myself the surgery pain and starved myself to lose some weight is how I am starting to feel. Sigh. Maybe once I start on the fill track I will feel better. Thanks for the replies. It helps to hear about people who have lost around the same amount. Some of the losses here from those who had surgery around the same time are so huge I feel like I must not be doing something right.

And, just like that it's gone!
I don't have any advice about your food issue - as I am a horrible emotional eater myself....but I wanted to say how sorry I am for the issues with your niece. I hope she comes home safe and sound really soon.

Is it possible to PM someone?
Thank you!

Is it possible to PM someone?
I want to contact someone but not in an open forum so I was wondering if it is possible to PM them? Thanks.

I just really wanted to share
That is great! Congrats. I am in bandster hell now also - praying I get a fill and that it helps at my next appt. You are doing great!

how long do you wait for a surgery date
I have a different ins co but I had my seminar in Nov, submitted the paperwork in January and had surgery in Feb.

Length of Hospital Stay?
I stayed one night. I think that was probably enough for me, but I was was complication free. I think 2 nights would have felt really long. If you don't have anyone to be with you when you come home for a day or so, you might want to consider staying the extra day. Good luck!

Is there room for one more?
I have been lurking here since before I had my surgery and finally decided to take the plunge and join you! I had my surgery on 2-20-08 and other than being in the depths of Band Hell - starvation right now I am doing really well. No complications so far and I am looking forward desperately to a fill. I feel like I have zero restriction and could eat a horse if I wanted to. I actually slightly increased my food on my own because I was feeling weak and sick from not eating enough. I am feeling much better now and really am still eating about a 10th of what I did pre-band and making much better choices, although not 100% of the time! Hope you all don't mind taking in one more. I could use the support as well. Thanks!
