actually, interesting note, acid reflux can come across to Sleevers as hunger because the body misinterprets the sensations. I upped my meds and the "hunger" and acid went away. Don't know if that will help you but I read your post and thought it might.

it comes on when it is typically time for me to eat. i get the sour taste coming up my throat. Which meds are you talking about?

  2. Everyones experience is different. Personally, I burp and pass gas alllll the time. i only get acid reflux when i get hungry (i know its weird). The main thing that happened to me after surgey is it totally ruined my relationship with food. Which at first i was mad about but now i know thats really what i needed. My taste buds have changed and i dont enjoy eating or having sweets anymore. However, i feel good, im looking good! I sleep so much better, i dont get winded easily, back pain has decreased, i enjoy going out and doing things, i dont dread getting dressed in the morning. the pros outway the cons!

  3. I havent had my surgery yet but I used to do Hot Yoga. Ive been thinking about starting again about a month before i have my surgery so i can get in some more weight loss. Has anyone tried doing it after their surgery? How long should you wait to start to do hot yoga after surgery? It only concerns me because you burn a lot of calories in just an hour class and since we wont be eating many i dont want to be too depleted.

FYI, i believe my surgery will be sometime in January

Had my sleeve one week ago today and feel great. Each day is getting better. I have no problems getting my fluids in, and mixing up my full fluids to keep it interesting with creamed Soups, yogurt, etc. Protein Shakes are getting easier to tolerate each day as well. On day of surgery, I was 283.1, and this morning I was 266.6! Looking forward to continuing the journey

Ive heard each day gets easier and easier so i will have to remind myself of that! Congrats on your weight loss!!!

Hi All, I am new to this so bare with me. I have gone through my labs YAH!! I had my consult and approval from the Doctor down here at Kaiser San Diego. Had it last week 10/10. I still have not heard of when I can star the 24 weeks of classes. Impatient right now. I just want to get it started.

I have read some of your stories and advice. It helps me stay focused and pointed in the right direction. To know that there are so many people out there going through or have gone through the same thing I am about to go through.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Welcome Hanna,

Have you tried calling Kaiser and asking them whats the status? I know a few people have had to call kaiser and try to see whats going on.

The surgery itself went well. The day of surgery and yesterday I was light headed or dizzy every time I stood up or sat on the edge of the bed. That started to wear off over time and last night I was finally able to move around, use the bathroom on my own, etc. I haven’t taken pain meds since the day of surgery. All in all, I feel pretty good, stomach muscles are just a little sore now

Thats great!!! Im glad you are feeling better and are up and moving around!!!! keep us updated!!!

I've done all tests, nutrition classes, support groups, etc. with Kaiser in Northern California. I did my blood work and EKG this morning, now meeting with the nurse next week to discuss surgery date! All other pre-op requirements have been finally met! So excited to get this done...sooner rather than later.

Awesome!!!! Did you get your date?

i didnt have to do the Health Information Class but i think i did that a few years ago. You will recieve a packet in the mail. It basically talks about the different types of surgerys and a phone number to call to set up an appointment to go to the next Orientation class. After the orientation class, you will need to go get your labs, EKG done as well as provide a stool sample (i know, gross). Once all the results come back, they will call you to schedule an appointment with a Physician Assistant to go over the results. If the P.A. gives the ok, then they will contact you to schedule you for the next Options Session.

I personally didnt start losing my weight until after i met with the P.A and she gave the OK. But I believe they use your weight from your referrel date.

Oh yea, you have to go get a nicotine test before you can get into the orientation class.

  10. Im going to options in Orange and i know they tested when you do the initial labs. When i met theh PA for a Medical Clearance to start the Options classes, she told me they can do random drug tests throughout the 12 weeks. I am not sure as far as them testing anytime between your last options class and yoour surgery date. I guess that would depend on the Surgeon

  11. That's great! Yes I am going through Kaiser in Orange. They told me the 12 week classes start the first week of every month and I was hoping to start them in the beginning of August but she said I prob won't make that one bc I need to do my labs, ekg and consultation first. Did they have any earlier appointments for your consultation or was that the earliest?

  12. So, it's 11:43 pm right now in California, and I am so excited that I cannot sleep! I have my orientation tomorrow morning at kaiser in Fremont, ca. I know it's only the first step, but I feel as if have waited my whole life for this. Has anyone else gone through orientation with kaiser recently? I understand every kaiser has a different program; what was your next step after orientation?

How did it go today? I have my orientation next friday
