  1. No one should be attacked personally or make anonymous comments like that. I guess I'm not familiar with the specifics of her situation. I know we all should be treated well and advice given in the right way will not upset the people looking for advice. Sometimes it's all the way it's delivered.

I've seen it in other forums, not naming names, where advice was given in a pompous way and the verbal fights start and then they get down and dirty and go into the private messaging and I've left a previous forum for just that petty reason.

I truly have no idea what went down with situation with Ch... and of course I love her avatar, best TV show ever, so I can't believe she would do anything like that. But people are sensitive on both sides and both sides need to communicate in a way that is not insulting. I know dream on but I do......

  2. I think we need a new airline for fat people and it will be comfortable for our size whether it's horizontal or vertical or both! I bet thin people would fly on it too because it would be more comfortable than what we have already. Plus who wants to use one of their bathrooms, it would be much nicer! They would also bring back the lunch cart and movies anyway in a perfect world......

  3. ReadySteadyGo,

I see what you mean now and it's true. I just hate the "ex-smoker" mentality that some people get. I guess what you're saying is there is a "smoker" mentality too and both can be demeaning, am I right?

Thanks, brandyII, not perfect but trying!

  4. PEOPLE, let's stop stalking each other just because we have differing opinions! It's not mature and these forums were meant to be used as a tool in order to help oneself and others. Not do demean each other.

Also, we're all here not because we are Star Trek fans or like baseball, we have weight issues and either want to learn about Lap Band, had Lap band surgery or will have it. Demeaning others because you are now "thin" and others are "obese" is not something that should be done here either.

Trust me, whether you like it or not sometimes fat can come back and where will you be then? Looking for "SUPPORT" here like everyone else is and everyone deserves.

    Thank you, brandyII:eek:

  5. susan4794,

You're right, like flying isn't stressful enough to have to worry about that BS! I'm personally built more like an "apple" but still have a stomach but have never had a problem fitting any seatbelts or armrests but still I feel self conscious about my size and usually get a window seat so I can shove my whole beautiful God given body against that window. Besides I can watch what's going on and that entertains me more than the people on the plane. I can see where you've gotten paranoid but try not to worry, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Also sometimes they don't sell out first class seats and have asked people if they want to upgrade, usually for around $100. Once when I was flying back and forth taking care of my dying father I decided to treat myself to first class thinking it must be "amazing" and it was larger, not so amazing and all we got was a bottle of Water, not Figi, and a packet of cookies! I thought they rolled out the red carpet for first class but I was wrong. My daughter says it's much nicer when you're on flights overseas, I don't know but it definitely gave me more leg room and that was the nicest part. Have a great trip, brandyII.

  6. Wheetsin,

Wow, I know there are a few who may say that the treatment of your parents was perfectly "okay" but I disagree. It was totally disrespectful and makes me sad and angry. You have to remember that we're dealing with corporations that have strict policies on weight for their own stewards so we shouldn't be surprised that they're so disrespectful to the public who pay a lot of money to fly with them. I believe we have to be more choosy as to which airlines we do fly with and I choose not to fly with companies that have strict weight restrictions on their stewards as it probably is a reflection on many other values they have. Whether we are POS or not we are human beings and are to be valued and respected as such!

Yes I have flown on one of those one seat-isle-two seat planes where they shifted us all around to balance it out and that was much less offensive to me because they didn't call people out on it they just did a basic add more to the other side kind of thing if that makes sense.

Anyway that's all I have to say for now, brandyII.

  7. I've seen that Airline show and SW does call people over to tell them that they need to buy another ticket if they're considered a POS. Do they wait until you're to sit down to see if the arm rests go down or do they do a "look-see" and make a judgment for themselves before you board?

    Anyone know?

  8. Boo Boo Kitty,

I got so engrossed with this battle going on that I started going back to previous posts to see who "G" was and saw your post about being named after that song "Brandy". That's so funny, it was a really popular song in the 70s, I think that's when it came out. My husband named my daughter Jessica after a song too.

Anyway I thought the "Thinner Times Forum" was rough but this one is pretty rough today!!!!brandyII (who was a fine beagle)

  9. Yes, I am a foodie too! I know more famous chefs than presidents. I don't go out to eat as much as I did prior to the band and am focusing more on getting my Protein in as I'm still considered a newbie in terms of getting the lap band system down and working.

I have noticed though because there are foods that I'm not eating that my tastes have changed and I like stronger flavors and use more spices etc... and maybe that's to make up for the lack of variety that I eat now.

PS. I did put Chinese food in the food processor right after surgery and it was not a good idea, but it kept me from craving it for a long time!!!! brandyII.

  10. cthomas.....partII

Also, I was given the option to spend the night in the hospital and chose that since I had complications prior to a varicose vein removal surgery and didn't want to take a chance. I should have taken the chance and gone home because I was fine except for gas pains which supposedly walking helps relieve that and I got no sleep in the hospital and would have been taken care of better at home in my own bed! Just my opinion, brandyII.

  11. cthomas...

I've had two c-sections plus a variety of other surgeries and by far the c-section was the toughest, most painful and harder to recover from. Not to mention you had to take care of a new born baby on top of it! Plus the nice part was they actually put me to sleep for the lap band and not the c-sections and that's not very fun! Good luck, brandyII.

  12. I think that WLS or no WLS we all should be treated as humans just as we are. We shouldn't have to wait until we lose a certain amount of pounds before we think of ourselves as worthy enough to join the human race. We are a big part of the human race like it or not. We're the only group that people can still make fun of and get away with it. We are discriminated against and that's wrong! You can't do that with religious groups or race, cultures, or religions, you can't even do with with blonds, hey I am one.

Anyway, I don't mean to get on the "high horse" or be a bore but whether we lose weight or not we need to feel good about ourselves. And if we don't we need to focus on that. Health should always be the main focus of weight loss, we live in a very shallow world, all you have to do is turn on a TV or read a magazine to know that. The more consumed this nation has been with dieting the fatter we've become and why is that? Because it doesn't necessarily work. Maybe some of us are really size 18s, and if we try to go under that our body will fight it. I just picked that size at random but I think you know what I mean.

Everyone is focused on weight, our family, our friends, EVERYONE! Let's focus on our health and being good people and as hard as it is we have to either fight or flee the people that abuse us for our size.

Sorry for venting, maybe I should have posted it elsewhere but I was here and it just came out, brandyII.
