  1. My first week I would measure everything in 2oz servings into a small glass or little condiment-like bowl. I kept an eye on my clock on the wall and knew that I needed to finish those 2oz each 15 mins. Sometimes I would substitute 2oz of Jello just to have some mouth feel. That got me on track very quickly. At the top of every hour the 2oz were Protein drinks - either Isopure the first 3 days, or Premier Protein once I moved to thick liquids. I stopped measuring on week 2 as I know how much I can sip. I know I can take 1oz sips now and do my 2-3oz in just a matter of a couple minutes at the most. I am still hitting the top of the hour with protein, although now I can mix in hummus, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.
It is very easy to slip and get distracted and lose track of time. Just keep on it. The more you set a schedule and routine early on, the easier it is to keep up with and will establish automatic reminders for yourself.

Thank you so much for the tips!

  2. Definitely contact your doctor and make sure they do not have any concerns. They told me as long as I am passing gas it is not a blockage, just more of a slowdown. Definitely is uncomfortable and makes it very hard to go as you aren't supposed to push hard. I definitely see a stall in daily weight loss if I don't have a BM. When I was on clear liquids only, I was going as much as 3-4 times a day - liquid lightning! Granted I was also on a antibiotic for that week as well. Once I moved to full liquids and more Protein it backed me up a bit and slowed me down on going.
The weight stalls I see go away each time I get a BM if I get stopped up for a day or so. I am averaging 1-2lbs a day easily. Some days I swing as much as 3-3.5.

This is really insightful, thank you! Yeah I was the same, I was averaging 1.8-2.5 pounds a day.

  3. Did they tell u to weigh yourself daily? It fluctuates so much, I would do once or twice a week. Don’t worry! Hang in there! Drink more water! [emoji4]

No, the recommended weekly but I get too excited! Definitely need to start weighing in once or twice though so I don't freak out. And you're so right, more water!! Thank you!

  4. So I've been on a 3 day stall now and can't figure it out. Well, it might have to do with not having a BM in a while. I took some milk of magnesia this morning I pray it works. It's been 2 weeks and I take a stool softener every day so I'm starting to freak out. Any advice?

  5. I'm 3 weeks post op and 1 week into "Stage 2: pureed Foods" and let me tell ya: I DON'T LIKE IT! I'm over it. My nutritionist has advised no carbs, so I'm not eating delicious mashed foods like mashed potatoes, any baked cheese dishes, etc. Just pureed turkey, pureed tuna AKA tuna Soup and pureed chicken. I did purée a couple Soups that were high in Protein which were actually good. I'd rather go back to liquids for the remaining week! Looking forward to "Stage 3: Soft Foods" and I am desperately craving a salad. Raw veggies might be later down the road, though. But I am ready to try more foods! Thanks for listening, apologies for venting :)

  6. Odd issue. I just on the scale and found I weigh 6 lbs more than the day of surgery. I’m assuming this will go away quickly and that it is due to all of the iv liquids than gave me because of my blood pressure. Did anyone else notice that?

Yup, I weighed myself the day I had the surgery when I was walking around with the nurse and it said I gained 4 pounds. Took a few days to lose it but totally normal. Lots of swelling and fluids going on!

  7. Hey all. I went to the store today and saw all the tables filled with pastries, pies, cakes, and cupcakes. Not to mention the carts full of food for the meal. I do not regret getting my surgery on the 15th, but I am experiencing a sharp burning pain to the left of my belly button and I am afraid I wont be able to go Black Friday shopping! I know how shallow that sounds, but since I dont really have any family near me or parents who have passed, I have really focused my excitements on Black Fridays. But now I may have to give this up this year too! I had a mini cry fest today, now I'm just bummed. But can anyone confirm this deep burning sharp pain is normal? I did text my surgeon who said its because its the largest incision and takes time to heal. I lifted my chubby frenchie to give him a bath and I'm afraid I may have pulled or torn something! Anyway thanks for reading my multi vent!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. God Bless

I feel the EXACT same way. I was sleeved 11/9 and I have the same burning sensation in the same spot. Then I twisted wrong last week and have so much pain between my rib and hip on the same side. I called my surgical team today and my nurse practitioner said it's all normal. We just had major abdominal surgery and healing is going to be painful.

I had a cry-fest today, too. Not because I'm missing out on food. But the socializing aspect. Everyone's drinking and having a great time around the holiday and I just feel so alone and sad. I don't want to sit at a bar and drink Water when I'm in pain and can't enjoy myself. I do not regret my surgery, I just wish I could heal faster so I feel more of a normal person. Getting a little depressed but I know this is temporary. I start pureed foods tomorrow and I don't even care. I'd rather just stick to water :(

  8. Ugh guys, I twisted wrong today and feel like a pulled a muscle in my waist. It hurts to breathe out and move around. I'm obviously trying to lay low but I hosted a bridal shower today and somehow managed to overdo it YET AGAIN! I can't stand this, I just want to be healed and do normal things. The world doesn't wait for us to get better! So frustrated :( trying my best not to feel defeated but today was the first day in this journey that I was really sad and felt left out.

  9. " userid="142306"]Happy Friday all yesterday I had my 1 week and 1 day post op! I have been doing wonderful I am down 17 lbs 9 of those pre-op today makes 9 Days post-op I start taking my chewable vitamins and 7 days of Purée food! I’m excited to try a scrambled egg and maybe some Soups but not everything blended excites me at all! 🤪 I’m thankful to have full energy since like day 4 by day 5 I was off pain meds taking my kids to/from school to get out of the house and I have been getting in over 5,000 steps according to my Fitbit! I thought I was going to hate my surgeon on my birthday 11/15 one week post-op but I felt normal even went to the movies! Everyone is different some will struggle with nausea and vomiting I’m thankful I never did others will struggle with having no energy or pain I did the first few days recovery is swelling and hell! [emoji49] Each day does get better! Happy Healing to all November Sleevers!!

That's all so amazing, congrats! I just met with my team today, 1 week 1 day post op. Looking forward go moving up in this journey with puréed starting on Thanksgiving!

  10. My incision pain is at a 2½ now compared to the 6 it was in the hospital. I too am moving around more. Just last night I started rolling over in bed. Can't stay in that position for very long but it's something. I am getting my fluids in I have an app I put in how much I've been drinking and it's been keeping "score" for me. I'm managing almost 50 oz a day of Water give or take. I'm also having popsicles and Protein drinks as well as yogurt and Jello. I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week. I don't want to think about cooking. I'm still a bit too tired for that activity. These healing naps are for the birds and I miss out on all the good stuff. Anyone else napping?

I work from home so went back to work yesterday and I miss the naps! By 4:30 I'm drained. Ugh I wish I didn't pinch this nerve I would be right with you on the pain scale!

  11. Ladies I feel great my incision is no where near as painful. Found this out yesterday. I am moving. Getting up and down almost normal. Drinking is a different topic seems like I am moving backwards with that. I am just always full. I think my surgeon took to much from me. I talked to my team they assured me it’s in my head [emoji23]. How is everyone doing.

You're doing so great! I'm struggling with getting up and down with this pinched nerve - I keep laughing and it's making it worse! I can't help it! But doing the heating pad as recommended. Fluid I'm doing about 40oz but I don't feel dehydrated or light headed. Getting my little walks in, too! Can't believe tomorrow will be a week. One more week of liquids and then I can start my pureed on Thanksgiving. Is anyone hungry? I'm not really. food looks good but the thought of having to eat makes me kinda sick.
