  1. LOTS and LOTS of water has kept me feeling full. One of my friends who had the sleeve told me to take advantage of the highest calorie count your doctor will allow. She kept it on the light side and said she felt so weak going in to surgery and it made the recovery harder. I'm trying to experiment in an effort to see what I like and to keep it a little less boring. I've ordered two sample packs of protein powders to help me figure out which one I prefer before ordering a full container. So far the Celebrate brand has been my favorite. They don't clump when you shake them and taste good mixed with water. I have Unjury too but I don't like how hard it is to shake up and it has that protein shake smell I don't like. I am trying their unflavored protein powder in jello and pudding today. My husband uses Muscle Milk and I like their taste and consistency too. I'm allowed some veggies so I have been roasting them to give them some extra flavor. I REALLY look forward to those each day. :-) Also try to keep your mind busy so food is you are not obsessing about food (or the lack of). Every time i start missing food I tell my self that "Food is no longer love and life. It is simply the fuel to get me through the day".
  2. What are alternatives to walking after surgery? I have peroneal tendonitis and am currently in a boot to restrict movement. I will force myself to walk at the hospital, but I won't be able to take walks on a regular basis. I do have a stationery recumbent bike. Would that be okay to use? I'm going to talk to my surgeon on Tuesday but also wanted to get thoughts and suggestions here.
  3. My husband told me I am over reading about the surgery. [emoji849] However, I feel like all of the information and stories are helping me to go into this with realistic expectations.
  4. Pinterest is a magical place for recipes. Personally I would start there. Good luck!
  5. Less than two weeks away! Eeekkk!! How are y'all doing? Are you surviving on your pre-op diet? How's the mental preparation going?
  6. I'm in Richmond. I'm having VGS and my surgery date is 8/10. My doctor is Dr. T Jayakumar and I'm having surgery at Hermann-Mermorial City. For those that have had surgery at MHMC, how was it? How was the staff?
  7. I just tried the Unjury strawberry sorbet and it was really good. I'm not a fan of artificial strawberry flavors but I'd buy this one.
  8. I bought the variety pack from Celebrate and liked all of them. I'm going to try my Unjury sample pack tomorrow. I've always liked Muscle Milk.
  9. I have used a CPAP for years and had several procedures with full anesthesia. I have never had any issues. Just make sure the anesthesiologist knows. Unfortunately I don't think my apnea is weight related but it qualified as a co-morbidity so I'm not complaining.
  10. Here is the link to Pinterest. Hope it works. http://pin.it/fbvoeuX
  11. My surgery is scheduled for August 10. Now that I have a date I'm getting very excited about the journey and can't wait to see how my body changes. I'm terrified of the recovery process though.
