I know you are getting so excited as you should be!! Your life is going to change ina BIG way!! As was said above it is normal to be nervous. The fear of theunknown. But you have already got a jump on things and you seem to be leaning the new way of your life. Hang on HON, you are going on one heck of a journey!! I look forward to following your journey. One thing that I didn't do and I am so sad about is: TAKE your measurments before your surgery. There may come a time that your weight oss slows down but you will still be losing inches. Good Luckand one last thing, KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

Since surgery is only a few days away, I would recommend three things.
    1. Take a good before photograph of yourself, so that you have something to compare to after surgery. Many times we are blind to our obesity. We do not see ourselves. Therefore when the weight begins to drop off rather dramatically, we question if this is really happening. Photographs are a good visualization of our success. Many people carry a before and after photo with them, just to remind themselves of their success.
    2. Walk 30 minutes each day, every day until surgery (or equivalent exercise). Walking helps the recovery process go smoothly and minimized the pain levels from surgery.
    3. Wean yourself from caffeine and carbonated beverages now. After I gave up my 6 diet coke a day habit, I suffered from a week of severe withdrawal syndrome consisting of severe headaches and body aches. I was miserable. You don't want to combine the effects of caffeine withdrawal with the effects of surgery.

My surgery is August 14 as well. It's normal to be afraid of the unknown. You have already developed better habits than you had before so only good things can happen from this point. Keep your eye on the prize and there's nothing you can't accomplish. #150

HIII everyone my name's Adriana I'm 26yo and I'm finally ready to share my journey. I started the process feb 2017 and I will have my surgery August 14th ( yikes, 8 days away). I chose to have the rny gastric bypass. I've been overweight FOREVER, I've never been skinny or under 200 which was my lowest weight at around 16-18 yo and that's because I started suffering from hyperthyroidism, as soon as that went under control my weight kept going up to about 240 last year it went up to 265 and felt horrible, so uncomfortable, out of breath and just unhealthy. I've changed my eating habits and started eating healthier. I've started swimming and aqua Zumba classes and I love it. Right now I'm on my pre-op diet which consists of 2 shakes and 1 complete meal which is pretty good to me. I have fears of doing this and not losing a pound, I've just been fat for so long can't imagine myself any differently. Please help me with these fears. I'm in NYC would love to have a buddy going through the same thing nearby. My husband is probably tired of hearing yap about my fears/expectations of the surgery lol.

Hi all, so i'm nearly 11 months out and so far lost 141lbs but the last 3 week i have hit a brick wall and struggling to to shift any more now, i'm really careful with my intake with volume of food and carbs & cals etc, i'm tempted now to go back onto Protein Shakes for a week to see if i can kick start the loss again, my partner doesn't want me to as she thinks im becoming obsessed with it now, other than the shakes can anyone else recommend anything for me to try, im at the gym 3 times a week.
    Cheers.

I have to agree. Ten years ago I was a size six and I was regarded very differently than I am now at size 24. People do sometimes act as if you don't exist. I'm a pretty friendly person so I often find that if I smile at someone or say hi it's fine but just walking through the world is very different when you're larger. People avert their gazes and it feels awkward. At least that's been my experience. It's possible OP just went to a very snotty church!
