  1. I finally finished all my requirements! Everything has been submitted to my insurance..... The wait begins! This is going to be the longest 2-4weeks lol. To be honest before I started this process I never thought about WLS, then my doctor recommended it due to my PCOS, insulin resistance my heart condition (leaky valve), family history of diabetes (I'm pre diabetic) and heart attacks (my dad and uncle had one last year, both my grandfather's died of heat attacks) . I always thought it was the 'easy way out' but seriously since going through the last 5 months of nutrition visits, Trainor visits, changing my eating habits, logging my food, all the tests, the support groups ect... it's def not easy, its a complete lifestyle change. You gotta be 100% committed. I'm glad I started this journey. I'm thinking surgery will be sometime in April. Anyone else waiting for approval!?.... Impatiently haha
  2. Crossing fingers and toes for you!! One step closer 😁
  3. That would be awesome! I just noticed my thread posted 3x haha wierd! Best of luck to you!!

    Recovery

I plan on taking two weeks off, I only work 2.5 hours a night delivering papers so I'm just sitting in my car, no heavy lifting involved so I figured two weeks would be enough time.
  6. Interesting, But I'm not too concerned I've been with my husband since we were 14....22 years later still going strong and I haven't always been overweight and he's always been my strongest supporter through all my health issues. My guess is if your relationship is rocky before hand chances of it getting better after are slim but ya never know. May be a good time to have a nice sit down with your significant other to voice any concerns either may have. Communication is key!
  7. I have PCOS with insulin resistance and all the fun stuff that comes along with that, along with a leaky heart valve, pre diabetic, and fibromyalgia. I'm thinking March /April will be my surgery, I'm waiting on approval.

    Submitted to Insurance

On January 18th my nutritionist says they were just waiting on my psych evaluation then they'd be submitting it to my insurance, I had my evaluation on Jan 16th which went great he said it was the shortest evaluation he'd ever done and it wouldn't take him long to write it up. So hopefully they got it already. I have another nutrition /Trainor apt Feb 8th so hopefully I'll know more. I'm getting anxious.... So close! It consumes my every thought. I think I'll feel more relieved when I get the actual approval.
  9. My amazing husband, my mom, my in laws and one of my close friends know. That's it. My kids ages 11&13 know I have surgery coming up and have asked why, as far as they are concerned along with everyone else who may ask I've told them I have stomach issues and it will require small procedure to fix. I don't see many people in my family so it's not any of their business.
  10. Its a beautiful state, born and raised here, If you love the outdoors there's always something to do lol

    Stomach infection after egd

I ended up with H Pylori, two weeks of antibiotics and I was fine didn't delay anything.
  12. A super tiny town in Northern Maine 😀
  13. That's awesome!!! PCOS and being insulin resistant is such a pain I also have a leaky heart valve so I had to get clearance from cardiologist and did all the required testing. I'm thinking if all is approved my surgery will probably be the end of Feb or sometime in March. It's been a long road but worth it!! Good luck on all your testing, you've got this 😀
  14. My insurance requires at least 6 months of nutrition visits and 3 Trainor visits, I'm on month 4 my nutritionist isn't worried much about weight loss just maintain and not gain. I've lost a couple pounds which for me is good, Having PCOS and being insulin resistant makes it hard. I was told last visit they are waiting for my psychiatric evaluation to come back then everything will be sent to my insurance for approval. Good luck!!
  15. I'm on month 4 of nutrition/trainer visits, only two more to go. so close but still feels so far away! next week I do my evaluation to see if I'm mentally prepared. I am so ready for this. I'm getting excited and nervous. did anyone need to do the full 6 months of visits before getting approved? did you struggle with the two week pre op liquid diet? In one of the support groups I attended they talked about Last Meals and what people had on their final night before starting the liquid diet prior to surgery.......What was yours or what will yours be? me? I have no idea I've been so focused on trying different protein shakes, tracking everything and chewing slowly LOL I haven't thought about it until now!
  16. My Insurance requires 6 months of visits. I'm almost there! it's been a journey but well worth it. I'm thinking my surgery will be some time in march . still thinking of my last meal...maybe my moms amazing meat loaf LOL
  17. Today i picked up some ensure protein shakes the pre mixed ones (milk chocolate) I'll try the powder as well in time. They are a little too thick I think with the next one I'll put some ice in it to thin it out some. Has anyone tried different brands? Do you prefer powder over pre mixed? I've never been big on shakes so i figured I'd start getting used to them now. But any advice on making them More tolerable would be great!

    Protein shakes

I had someone else say they liked the premier shakes as well i couldn't remember the name of them when i went shopping but I'll give them a try. I'll be attending a protein night support group this month where I'll be able to sample several different brands.
  19. I haven't had the surgery yet and I'm nervous as hell too. The reason being is the last big surgery i had (breast reduction) i was one of those rare cases....figures right? They hit an artery didn't know it until i was in recovery had to go back in to fix it. The doc said he hadn't had a case like mine in 30yrs. The recovery was longer but it was worth it to not have any more horrible back Pain. I don't regret it. It does make me nervous about this surgery but i focus on the positive because there will always be a million 'what if's' . you've got this! Congrats on your date and please keep us updated!!
  20. So had my endoscope, got a call saying i had H Pylori i just started the 14 day round of antibiotics. Anyone have this to? What a horrible taste it leaves. Blah! I have my 2nd nutrition apt on Thursday I've been doing good getting my protein. I never realized how much bread i ate until i stopped eating it.
  21. I have yet to have surgery and I was wondering the same simply because my hair is already thin and I have PCOS which causes hair loss. and for me I've never been a fan of short hair on me, love my long hair. has anyone tried prenatal vitamins? {if you're allowed to take them}
  22. So I've had my first visit, got the letter of support from my PCP, last Monday I went for my endoscope, the other day I had my first nutrition and Trainor apt, I'm waiting for my TSH test, and have set up my 3 support groups, all being done this month. i also have an apt with my cardiologist this month to get the clearance for surgery from him. things seem to be moving along quickly. However because I have Mainecare they require 6 months of nutrition visit. has anyone here had mainecare and had to wait the full 6 months before being approved for surgery?
  23. so what are people telling their family/friends when they find out you've had surgery? like a cover story? I'm trying to figure it out, I have two young sons ages 12 & 10 so i know they are going to question why I had surgery and why I'm not eating the same things as they are and why I'm only drinking my meals for the first several week and my meal habits will forever change. they are impressionable although my youngest is a toothpick but my oldest son is starting puberty so he's going through many changes so I don't want them knowing my surgery is for weight loss I've never done the body shaming or anything like that around them. so I was thinking of telling them I had to have gastrectomy surgery so I'm not completely lying to them I will have a portion of my stomach removed but for other issues and not weight loss. if my kids were younger I wouldn't worry too much about it but they are at that age where everything is questioned and simple answers will not due.
  24. same here. my mom, husband and a couple very close friends know, but that's it. My family would have nothing good to say and frankly it's none of their business. so you're not alone my friend!

    newbie here!

Hi Everyone! I haven't been on in awhile, we bought a new house and spent the summer moving! I was contacted in july saying my seminar apt was aug 24th then they changed it to the 31st which was great because i ended up in NH the week of the 24th for training! so I just went to the bariatrics seminar this past Thursday my next step was to contact my PCP for the referral so I did that first thing Friday morning and by that afternoon the bariatrics office was calling to set up my first appointment of course I was working when they called and with today being labor day I have to wait until tomorrow to call them back. I'm excited to finally be moving forward!
