  1. Hi! I'm 2.5 weeks post op. The first week was rough everything hurt i used a walker the first 4 days. If i stood to long it felt like my stomach was filled with bricks. Walking and sipping is what my days consisted of, i had to do 2 weeks of clear liquids i could not tolerate the protien shakes our powder so getting my protien in the first 2weeks was really hard. I just went to puree/soft food 3 days ago i can only eat about 2tbsp each meal, i did get a whole egg in today. Eat slow chew well. Good luck!

    Had my surgery yesterday!

Congrats!! Welcome to the losers bench!! I hope you have a smooth and speedy recovery.
  4. So i was cleared to start eating puree foods. I started off with blended canned low sodium chicken that was on my list of foods. So far so good with it. I didn't dare eat too much i started with a table spoon and ate it with a baby spoon over 30 min period. I'm trying to listen to my stomach i don't want to over eat. I didn't think eating for the first time would make me nervous but it did lol. Was anyone nervous the first time they ate? How much did you start off eating? I know everyone is different but just a general idea. I'm just thrilled to finally have food!! It tasted like heaven haha

    Pooping is stressful!

I use a step stool, works great! I wish i had used one during my first BM after surgery. I was so afraid I was going to damage something. That's why i said it's stressful! Lol

    Pooping is stressful!

I was 8 days out without having a BM so i called my doc and they said to do a suppository that day. Dulcolax. That would be your best bet 11days is a long time. They like it to be 3-5days after surgery.

    PCOS

Hi! I'm 14 days post op. I have PCOS with insulin resistant so far since March 20th I've lost 32lbs which honestly shocks me because it's always been such a huge struggle to lose weight. I know with PCOS the weight loss May be slower than others but I'm ok with that as long as I'm losing. Medication wise it think it's too early to know weather they'll be any change, the only meds i take is for my heart. Best of luck!

    2 days out of surgery

What did your doc say? I'm not allowed to start my vitamins until week 2 post op. I'm on day 12 right now.
  9. I'm day 12 days post op. I was in a bit of pain the first 4 days i actually had to use a walker the first few days especially to get up and i got tired very easily. If i was on my feet too long my stomach would feel like bricks. I'm still on a clear liquid diet until my 2week check up this Wednesday. I didn't poop until day 8 i ended up having to use a suppository. I'm feeling much better still some mild muscle pain in the lower abdomen area. And i do have hunger pains, i can't wait to move to soft foods. Lol i hope you start feeling better soon!!
  10. I'm 11 days post op. Been feeling pretty good all my incisions are healing great. Since yesterday I've been getting this little pain right above my belly button usually only happens when i sit, get up or bend over, there's no fever No vomiting no severe pain just an annoying poking pain. I'm thinking it Maybe be the muscles since its right between two of my Incisions so I'm thinking they got disturbed during surgery. Anyone experience this?

What is your post op diet like?

I'm 12 days post op and have to do 2 weeks of clear liquids although i can do the shakes but seems like any type of shakes or protien powder really upsets my stomach so getting my protien has been really hard. I'm trying to get my protien through the premier clear liquid drinks, that's going ok. I move onto puree foods this Wednesday for two weeks then soft foods for 2-4weeks. Introducing one new food at a time.

    Pooping is stressful!

I think because is everything they give you in the hospital before and after surgery. And everything kinda had to 'wake up' after. Some people use miralax some use milk of magnesia depends on what your doctor advises.

    Pooping is stressful!

So i checked out the squatty potty. And realized i had a step stool the same size so i used it as a 'squatty potty' worked great!!! And cost me nothing! I feel relieved haha

CALLING ALL 2 WEEK PRE-OP DIETERS.

I've already had surgery I'm 10 days post op but wanted to say Good luck everyone!! The pre op is super important but can be very challenging. I had to do a 14day liquid only pre op it was very hard and there was days i wanted to give in But i kept reminding myself it's better for surgery to follow the diet to the T. My surgery went great and trust me they know if you've followed the diet or not. My surgeon said my liver looked awesome he could tell i followed my pre op diet and said my surgery was the easiest one he's done in awhile. So keep your eye on the prize! You've all got this!!! Best of luck!!!

    Pooping is stressful!

My surgeon recommended milk of magnesia over miralax. Which i took daily but i don't think it helped. I naturally have IBS issues anyway so I'm used to the whole cramping thing i just was afraid to over strain with it being the first BM after surgery. I have never been one to take BM's everyday i normallyonly go 2 maybe 3 times a week when eating food. so this 8 days wasn't unusual for me since I'm still on liquids. My friend and i was just discussing the squatty potty. Lol!

    Day 8 post op update

I was approved today to drink sugar free hot cocoa as long as i put protien in it. I just haven't been able to reach my protien goal so hopefully this helps. When i side sleep i use a pillow to help support the side I'm sleeping on, yes it def feels like all your insides are shifting lol. I'm still on liquids i can't start the puree stage until the 25th. I'll have to ask about the bowl movement issue. When i was on the 14 day liquid diet pre surgery i only had 2 BM's during that time.
  18. Oh let's see, day 8...I'm feeling pretty good for the most part, I never had any nausea or vomiting. incision are healing great they're starting to get itchy. The protien intake is going terrible i just can't take the shake no matter how i prepare them. Yesterday i tried again ended up with a bloated upset belly most if the day. I've been adding protien powder to my broth and having some protien water as much as i can tolerate. I haven't had a bowel movement yet the last one was the morning of my surgery however I've never been ' daily' regular more like 2x a week regular, i don't feel constipated or that i have to go just yet and pass gas regularly, I've also been taking milk of magnesia to 'help things along'. I'm finally able to lay on my right side for a short time which is great because it takes pressure of my back. I have fibromyalgia so this whole back sleeping thing has been miserable lol. I'm looking forward to stage 2 the puree! It will be a month since I've had food that isn't considered a liquid. I'm down 26 lbs from when i started the pre op diet on March 27th to now!

    Now on the bench!

I was sleeved on 4/10. I'm feeling pretty good i have a Minor back ache from sleeping on it. I've never been a back sleeper and a pulled muscle feeling on my lower right side because i prop myself up on my elbow on that side to get up out of bed. Sleep hasn't been the best lol. Lots of. Walking and sipping. The protien shakes are so hard to get in they make me gag so I've been adding protien powder to my broth and i have proven water. Congrats on making it to the bench!!!

    I'm Home!

Had surgery yesterday. Just got home. Belly is still very tender and bloated. I have pain when i breath in deep but I've been using the spirometer talking my walks and sipping my water. It hurts when i have to burp. I didn't get any nausea so that's a plus. Hopefully in a few days I'll feel better.

    I'm Home!

I'm on day 4 and honestly i can't really tell what's pain from surgery and what's pain from the lovely monthly visitor that showed up yesterday (i know tmi) between the cramps backache and over tenderness of the abdomen area I'm just miserable today. I think I'm going have my husband get me a heating pad for my back. Hopefully that will help some.
  23. Oh yes I've had the same thought cross my Mind a few times. I'm hoping tomorrow the chest and back pain ease up a little. I've been keeping an eye on my urine color still light in color just trying not to get dehydrated. I'm looking forward to the puree stage starting the 25th! It'll be a month since I've had real food! I need to put in my stats on my profile once i figured out how to do it lol but pre op diet i was 229 surgery day i was 215 today I'm 213.
  24. I'm on day 3 I've had no problem passing gas but when it comes to burping ing it hurts so bad! And i have a terrible back ache but i think that has a long to do with the fact I'm sleeping in my recliner. I feel like i did a million crunches. Just sipping and walking all day lol
  25. I'm on my 3rd day, I'm not having issues with water but the protien shakes are very hard to get down at any temp. They want 90g of Protien a day but i haven't come close to that I've like 30g but plenty of water. I've been literally sipping all day and night. I work nights but I'm out for two weeks. I'm used to getting up at that hour so i usually get up take a couple walks around my house and sip water. And boy does my back hurt!!
